I've been living in South Korea for 2 years now and I've gotten 2 tattoos whilst I've been here. The tattoo industry is still very new here and it seems to be a very female dominated industry. I follow tonnes of Korean artists on instagram and I haven't encountered a male artist yet. The studio I went to for my last one is very big and all the artists I've seen there were women. I love it.
I’ve been having the complete opposite experience lol
I had all my tattoos done in Korea half done by men half by women and everyone was always suuuper sweet, even the scariest face-tattoos having dudes were always the most polite, but I also pick not that "famous" one that usually are cheaper cuz they wanna build up their portfolio so maybe that's why
Honestly i’ve seen a p equal amount but it also depends on the style and the fit b/w u and the artist! I got my latest tattoo done by Oozy and he was amazing. His studio was rlly nice as well (artist and environment). When I go back/for my next tattoo, I def want to have a female artist tho
I thought it was illegal to get tatted there? If it is still then hey…badass
@@Shellsterxx it's not illegal to get a tattoo, it's illegal to give tattoos unless you have a medical license. Most tattoo parlors operate under the guise of something else, like the one I go to is a "cafe". However, the law isn't really implemented these days as most public opinion towards tattoos has changed. Many Korean celebrities have tattoos even if they do have to cover them on TV shows, and many young people have tattoos too. But I can get as many as i like. If something were to happen it's the artist who would be in trouble not me.
Every tattoo artists I’ve had a tattoo from has been great, however there’s a few studios that have made me feel uncomfortable and I’ll admit a huge part of that is them being mostly if not all men even the other people being tattooed. I’ve recently found a fantastic place in a nearby town that’s all women and I freaking love it 🙌🏻
Last time I went to get tattooed one of the owners made me super uncomfortable 🙃 I was showing him my depop and literally explaining that it makes me uncomfortable when people try to hit on me in dms and then he just defended it like "well when you're posting photos like this all you can say is wow" like BROOOOOOOOOOO 😪 I love this shop too and my artists there don't ever make me uncomfortable
I picked a studio with women artists purposefully 😭 there’s both men and women that work there but I had a woman tattoo me bc yeah no not comfy otherwise.
Agreeeed! My tattoo artist who’s doing my sleeve is a woman (and my first time with a female artist). it’s been so eye opening how different it is! Shes so much kinder and empathetic, and her work is stunning. She’s ruined me for future artists 😅
Saaame! Went to three different places to get my first, two of them were male tattoo artists and even though I admired their work, they were terrible tattoo snobs and made me feel really shitty. Third studio was owned by an amazing women, the young female artist that ended up working on me was incredibly talented and I was really comfortable the whole time.
I did my biggest tattoo in a studio where artists were only men. It was 6 hours tattoo and 4 hours making a design so i was there for a while and the things that i heard during...gurl. I felt so uncomfortable, so sexist and disgusting stuff. I really love my tattoo and he is a great artist but the experience was awful.
totally get the ‘male tattoo studio’ one, years ago i went in and explained how i wanted to start my sleeve, but that i didn’t want to go all in at once because i wanted to be able to adapt it as i grew as person and a mom etc. Artist tells me he can’t piece-meal a sleeve and only does “coherent” work. And he wanted like $300 an hour, in 2007! thankfully i’m still going on my sleeve today and SO glad i didn’t give in to his pressure, ive got beautiful and thoughtful pieces that reflect things AND best of all- each artist has totally loved and admired the work i’ve already got and had no problem adding to my dream!
I had a similar experience and it almost put me off wanting tattoos all together
Wow 300/hr back in 07? Dude must be charging 800-1000hr now. I’m paying 200hr for my sleeve and I think that’s fukin a lot
I have a male tattoo artist and have always felt super respected by him. To be fair he runs his own boutique shop so it’s literally the client and him so it’s a super chill atmosphere.
Love small studios so much for this reason, and where i am the work is usually 100x better than competing walk in studios in the area
Same, love my artist
Saaaame.
The cliche tattoo one was hilarious, and very true. I've got an eastern style dragon in my thigh. I'm aware it's a very common tattoo. When people ask me why a dragon, I just say "I like dragons." 😂
That's like when people ask about my elephant one. Why not
I hate when I'm asked does this have meaning to it like no it just look cool and if it did its between myself
I want to get a european dragon tattooed for the same reason but it's do hard to find a design I like :/
I got a jackalope cos I just like it.
I got all my tattoos in all/mostly female tattoo studios where the girls were absolute sweethearts and now I’m kind of afraid to go elsewhere to be honest 😅
Same , I didn’t have a good experience in a male shop and I don’t ever want to return .. I love female artist ! 💕 maybe I’m being biased
Most of mine are from female artists too :)
My tattoo artist is a cool 50 year old guy but my first was a girl and she scarred my wrist up. So I’m more inclined to male artists now.
I’ve never really had bad experiences with male artists but honestly females artists are the best!
Was triggered by the "male shop" video. I recently had a similar experience. I left the shop super bummed out, without a tattoo and scheduled with someone else. My appointment is this Thursday :)
Hope you have a better experience!
You were right to walk out! Good on you keeping your boundaries. Hope your tattoo went well!
Howd it go
The place I got my first tattoo had a person in the front like this (still does) who also works as a piercer there.
Anyway the tattoo artist (also male) was very polite and didn’t up the price and I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. Even gave me advice on something’s if I asked.
I got pierced twice there as well and it was fine. even got told I was a good client by the female piercer!
But; I really don’t want to go back because the front desk guy just doesn’t like his job.
Side note: found out a few months ago I’m dating this guys nephew I think, and all front desk guy cares about is his cats.
Y'all, my tattoo is more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. The artist I went to was kind, collaborative, and so incredibly talented! I could not be happier that I waited until I was comfortable and found the right artist for me 🥰
That girl who was doing the male tattooer perspective thing. MY. GOD. That was scary accurate. I had a guy quote me $150 and another artist told him to drop it $100 because it wasn't that big and his hourly was 100. Glad the dude looked out for me 😂 still got scammed on how shitty the tattoo is 😂😂 I was dumb and 18 tho 🤷🏻♀️
her: what's the movie where there's a pregnant lady and her demon baby is trying to kill her
me: *twilight*
my exact thought lol
The deer skull story reminds me of my mum getting a bee tattoo then getting attacked by a swarm of bees the next day
ur mom's manifestation powers are strong
That is a scary and oddly beautiful story.
Imagine the pregnant woman going to all her pregnancy checkups and the reaction from the doctors 😂
As someone who assisted at an OBGYN, the doctors have seen a lot of real life shit. And if they're professional about it, there's usually very little leeway to comment on a patient's appearance. Unless a mother is super buddy-buddy with their gyne I guess. If everything is a-OK with the patient, pregnancy checkups are kept as short as possible anyway lol. Doctors don't have much time to spare on these routine things. My two cents :)
The baguette suck is so cute.
Male tattoo artists, in the same, voted best tattoo shop in my city (this is over the years)
Didn't follow the tattoo I drew specifically so it would perfectly fit around my ear, made it smaller and now it looks like a slug
Went back 10 years later with a new design to cover it (with way more visible tattoos on me, that one was my third hidden one) with a big one. Male tattoo artist told me to get it lasered and to "put more thought" into getting tattoos, ect.
Got my ribs tattooed, had another guy come in and loudly tell the artist how unfair it was that the rib tattoo wasn't hurting me more
Artists being mad that I bring in exact designs, which I do because those are made from math and physics concepts, so if you alter them, it it's the pattern
Not informing me about what a good size should be, ect.
(Some of these I didn't realize until years later)
But the one that made me leave was super gross sexual harassment, which I reported. The owner said he was strongly against it, and if he had any proof he would fire him. I told him I had it in my texts, because he and I were supposed to be collaborating on my next tattoo. He came up with a new excuse. That was the day he told me to get my tattoo lasered
Do artists ever use a design you’ve drawn? I thought the whole point is that a tattoo artists puts THEIR art on your body. Please correct me if I’m wrong
@@maijashea it depends on what you want. Really good artists (there aren't many in my area... I found a new shop that used to be terrible but brought in new talent that is ok) or even just good artists whose work you trust to design for you with just a general idea, go for it, 100%. That is how tattoos are generally supposed to work. MY tattoos specifically need exactly what I have sketched out, because (to get more technical) they are created using 3D adjustable simulations of different concepts in chaos theory that have specific variables and are rotated onto a specific x,y, and z axis to create the image. So, no, they cannot take my idea and make it on their own. I use two and one real world example of the Lichtenberg fractal to make up just one tattoo. Some of my tattoos are very complicated. I have one in Vulcan calligraphy. I'm a huge nerd and they can't double check the languages I bring in, the references I bring in, the symbols from mythology and tv shows I bring in, or the extremely complicated equation I brought in that you would need a PhD in fluid dynamics to quickly identify. The one time I told the artist to make a black hole look however she wanted and she copied it out of the book I had with me that I used to show her how to tattoo a 4D cube onto me. So yes, ideally it would be artistic. I am going to be getting some soon because they aren't math or science based, they are based on my beliefs on equality and civil rights, but this time it is in English and one is a coverup for the LGBTQ equality part. But some tattoos need to be technical.
@@maijashea it's not unusual to bring in a specific sketch for them to copy exactly. Tons of people who want a particular artist's unique style will commission a sketch from them and just bring it to a tattooer to copy directly. It's no different than bringing in a portrait you want them to copy exactly. I can't imagine why any tattoo artist would have a problem with that since it makes their job easier, seems like a red flag.
@@maijashea of course they do! How would you get something specific if not? For example people who want their children's drawing tattooed. Of course that is if you or a loved one draw it, is unethical to tattoo something another artist did
You should’ve left and never went back
I'm a careworker and seeing that girl stick and poke her nana annoyed me, a lady I look after wanted fake tattoos one time and I did her a fake sleeve it was so wholesome😭❤️xx
Oh my gosh that is so cute 🥺
@@treacletatts she was so sweet bless her 😭xx
As a sepsis survivor it angers me that people are so quick and just stupid to put themselves at risk and all for a really shitty tattoo
Right!! I had a really awful staph infection once I was in the hospital for a week and then I had to basically drop everything for a month for very painful recovery. It’s not like a fun time.
Im very unfamiliar with sepsis, would you mind explaining how it effected you? Howd you get it? Also im so happy you survived i hope youre okay!
@@vevvish504 I got it hours after giving birth. Basically I had an abscess that burst. My organs had already started to shut down and I was rushed into the icu fighting for my life. I don’t remember too much of it as I was in and out of consciousness. I do recall vomiting a lot and having the worst temperature I’ve ever had and just feeling really awful
@@neetbleat6306 I ended up in the icu because it had got to the point my organs were shutting down. Not what you want hours after giving birth. It took me over a year to fully recover and even now 2 years on I’m still effected by it
@@spud6195 I just got mine randomly got sick but I stayed sick and then I broke out in hives the doctor at the er the first 2 times said it was nothing and then they realized I had one abscess like several inches into my body and wasn’t reacting to antibiotics at all and then they let me in
But that sounds horrible!!!! I’m so sorry! Yeah like why do people do this stupid stuff
Cute little tats aren’t even that expensive if it’s what you want
I have a professionally done tattoo I got for 30 bucks
Been a victim of a shitty artist who was acting like they were a Rockstar and so rude. They had like a 6 month wait and I thought it would be good. It turned awful i even told the artist I went to her because my friend who died went to her. She was so rude. I still think about it to this day. I had to have the tattoo redone because she completely ignored what we agreed on.
Oh man that sucks so so bad! Sorry you had that kind of experience ☹️
Oh that's awful, I'm so sorry ❤️
@@Rose-jz6sx thank both of you for your kind words. I really think it is not talked about enough within the tattoo industry. I had a lot of artists who has such a shitty attitude towards client and not even listening to what they want. I have a lot of tattoo's now, but I had some experiences which sucked, one of my tattoos left huge scars on my shoulder too. This was done by a artist who is hugely popular where i live. I have always gone to recommended artists after checking out their portfolios etc and still ended up with some bad tattoo's. :/
My daughter had a shit experience her first time too. The guy made it hurt, dug into her skin, gave her scars in it. All because he wanted her to know tattoos should hurt... She has a high pain tolerance so when she didn't react he just went deeper. Some of the black ink didn't stay due to bleeding and scabs. I felt so bad for her. Her second tattoo I had her take her dad and they both got one at a different shop. Much better time.
I have only been tattood by men( I only have 2 for now) and they have honestly been amazing. They were so kind and nice and really made sure I was comfortable the whole time
The one with the “when you’re a girl 18-30 and walk into a predominantly male tattoo shop” one of those happened to me and my friend! We both are photographers and thought it would be cute to get the word smile on our “trigger” finger. The guy at the tattoo studio pretty much said that it wouldn’t stick and that it would just end up looking like shit in a few months and that he wouldn’t give us a free touch up even though the shop said on their website that they gave one free touch up. Even though he was kinda right about the tattoo not looking good after a while he was still rude about it. My friend and I decided not to get the tattoo and got piercings instead.
Soooo as someone with finger tattoos on the sides of my fingers I highly recommend doing it on the side that is touching your other fingers.. not facing out to your thumb. It will last sooooo much better being protected by your other fingers. Hope this makes sense. Plus if you’re doing a close up shot the client will see the “smile”
That’s a really cute tattoo idea tho
Before I had bunches of tattoos, the artists would be complete assholes. Now they’re very very nice. Not okay.
Eeeesh that isn’t fun at all! Sorry you had to deal with that 😣
Ew that's so disrespectful. I had heard some act like this but I thought it was a legend. I remember seeing an Ink video where the artists actually said that you kinda have to "earn" your place in a tattoo shop. I was appalled by it.
Pick 👏 your 👏 artists 👏 carefully! I walked out on my first tattoo appointment after paying the down payment because of shit like this. The vibes were WRONG. Went to a different artist and have had four great experiences with him.
I was an apprentice at a shop in Australia for 3 years and one guy who pretty much had his entire body done from toes to his eyelids came in one day and was so excited to tell and show everyone that he had his sphincter done with a mandala. That’s one image that’s never going to leave my mind.
When people see my butterfly tattoo, they assume it's a total cliche, but the body is a semicolon, and my sister and I got matching ones for mental health. One of us was struggling with self harm and the Butterfly Project is a mechanism to help stop an fight the urges to do that. And the semicolon was to magnify the message for us, that we don't need to self harm because this isn't the end, life is still moving forward. But that first time people see it, I get an eyeroll.
My boss said she’s getting this with her daughter and I’ve seen it for maybe... 10 years straight now?
I used to draw butterflies on myself for the same reason when I was 13 (8 years ago) so I’d say it’s a commonly known tattoo.
I have a semicolon butterfly as part of my hand piece. Lost my ex girlfriend to suicide and I myself am battling with CPTSD and BPD.
I have a semicolon that’s been turned into a cat for the same reason and I love the meaning it has to me and others! We’re stronger that we may think! Though I will admit that mine is awfully done and I should have ran out of the shop the second the artist said her eyesight isn’t what it used to be 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I mean, it still is. Semicolon butterfly isn't a unique take.
Whenever people point out the huge rise in popularity of butterfly tattoos lately, I remember the Butterfly Project.
The male tattoo artist thing is so true! I went to a popular shop and they charged me $160 for my first tattoo (black outline, words in persons hand writing and binoculars, about 4inches probably less in length.) and I asked if he could go over a tiny moon tattoo not even an inch long and he said it would be $40 extra. He had inc out already and the tattoo I had gotten only took about 30 mins. I haven’t gone back…
I'm not a fan of tik tok but I can't get enough of this series 🤣❤
im too obsessed with you, literally this is the earliest ive been to anything. i'll prolly be late to my own funeral 💀
LOL I feel this in my bones 😂
i'm so glad that i've been blessed and only had the kindest and most professional artists, it's so sad how many people haven't had the same experience.
I have to say, my fiance and I both LOVE your videos! We recently both got baby footprint tattoos 👣 to represent our beautiful baby "bean" who died about 4 months ago. We had the best experience, and even our tattooer had gone through the same thing. Anyways, we both really love your videos! Keep up the amazing work hun! ❤
Oh my gosh I’m so so sorry!! My heart hurts for you! Sending the biggest of hugs to you and your fiancé 🧡
Thank you so much!! 😢 ❤
I'm sorry for your loss, but that sounds like a beautiful tribute ❤️
Thinking of you ❤
@@slinkywhippet thank you love 💘
I've had bad vibes from male tattooists before, heard them making sexist or racist remarks, I left and found someone that I trusted instead.
The whole booty hole conversation has me in tears from laughing. No tattoos in weird places but thanks for making my morning.
I've never had a tattoo experience like that but I also scoped out the shops I was interested in HARD I actually loved my first appointment as the entire shop kept on checking on the tattoo as it was one of the first bigger projects they had come in after covid restrictions lifted
One of my forearm tattoos was basically a hate tattoo. The guy just tattooed so deep into my arm it hurt.. I KNEW he was pushing in too deep. I did change the design on him, but I asked if it was okay repeatedly, said we could reschedule if he didn't have time that day and offered to pay way more than he quoted me. he said he'd blocked out time and it was okay, he said he didn't have much issue with the design change (just needed to get a reference for gears) but like.. you could tell the way he tattooed he was mad. I never went back to him. He also had a condescending attitude when I first went in (second tattoo, first large one. I was still green). Most tattoo places I've been to aren't a great experience. A lot of 'bro' like guys working there, blaring rap-metal (I don't mind but if I can't hear you talking when were a foot apart, turn it down) and just ignoring the client and talking to each other or not talking at all. After my second forearm tattoo, I was put off tattoos for a LONG time because of it. But I went to a 'shittier' shop and got a candle done, it was so nice and everyone there was pretty cool. Went back and got my septum pierced too.
yea i dont know how i would feel going to a male artist. especially cuz im darker skinned i really have to watch out who i go to. i found my artist cuz my boyfriend goes to her and shes literally the sweetest..the last tat i got from her was the word "Awesome" in red right below the base of my neck and at first she wasn't going to do it because she only does neck and hand tats for ppl with full sleeves (and this is my 3rd tat and my first two i got at the same time which are also just red script lmaoo) but i asked nicely. its my dogs name who is now 17 years old and i wanted to get it while shes still with us and i fully plan on getting way more tattoos ,so she made an exception...but next week we're going on vaca to NY and im getting a flash from someone else and im very nervous but excited at the same time cuz she seems like she knows what shes doing by her insta. this will also be my first illustration tattoo...wish me luck!!!
Ah have the best time 😄🧡
I got my first tattoo in an all male studio, i was the only female during my appointment but my artist was so nice and reassuring. He kept checking in on me, how i was doing/feeling through out the whole session. Wonder experience 🤗 i couldn’t have asked for better
First off: You look like a sexy lumberjack and I am here for it. Second off I live for your videos / especially the tiktok and vlog ones ♡♡♡
Well thank you 🪵🪓🧡
Sad to see so many girls have similar stories... My first tattoo was a nightmare too, the guy was rude, dominating me, he hurt me on purpose and laughed about it... It took me 8 years to overcome this experience and pursue my dream of beeing heavily tattoed.... Lucky me, I found a guy who was THE BEST. He checked up on me, was incredibly soft and became a very good friend.
Maybe it's because I'm older now, I'm more assertive and I know how things work, I never had any problem anymore with the many artists I've met....
Whenever I see these untrained people in gross places giving tats that turn out actually OK, I just hope that maybe they'll actually consider a real apprenticeship, because they're clearly talented, they just need to be more safe. I was telling my artist for my most recent tattoo (a tribute to my late grandmother, incidentally, so oddly relevant to the end) about your channel and this particular series and she said of these people doing unsafe tattoos, "like, at least take a blood pathogens class"
That Powerpuff Girls tattoo is gorgeous and I’m so jealous!! 😍
The Powerpuff Girls tattoo reminds me of two embroidery commissions I did a while ago. Love your videos because I get to know about the industry 🙂. I can’t get tattoos because of skin issues and allergies, but I love the art🙂
I'm so glad that the guy I went to for my first tattoo was amazing. He did exactly what I asked (even though he said he rarely did that style, but said that it would be fun regardless), said that if I needed a break to just let him know, and when I said that it didn't really hurt and I was good, we just talked for about an hour about life, family, and random stuff. Definitely super chill and I definitely would love to go back to him in the future. Very that TikTok, I must have been very lucky.
Concept that I can't stop thinking about: you finally get your knees done with a matching tattoo on each knee. The one on your black and grey leg is colour and the one on your colour leg is black and grey. Thoughts?
I do like this idea ALOT but I already have my knees planned !! (Bat head on one and a panther head on the other) 🧡
@@treacletatts ooh, can't wait to see those! Never seen a bat tattoo I didn't like and panthers are such a cool classic :)
the male dominated tattoo shops one is so so accurate i’ve only been tattooed by men and it’s makes me sad tbh they were all assholes
I was triggered by the male artist pov with my first tattoo experience, except it was a woman, she was horrible 😭😂 at a later date I got the tattoo covered up at a shop she used to work at (coincidentally) and the guy asked who did it and he instantly said like "oh she's a moody madam isn't she" like yeah understatement of the century 💀
You are becoming one of my favorite channels! Saw you uploaded and I audibly went “Ooohhh yes!!” so just wanted to tell you! I am recovering from wisdom teeth surgery this week so thank you for gracing me with your lovely face and personality. ☺️

@@treacletatts Aww thank you! ☺️ Surprisingly, it’s not too bad! Your videos make it better! And ignore the haters, you have a strong fan base and we’re here for you. Omg the pov one is so correct.
I showed a man the elephant line tat I wanted done and my ideas and he changed everything and could not just take what I was so easily explaining and showing him. Belittled me so much.
Tattoo is alright, I still like it. Just not what I imagined
I’ve been tattood by two separate male artists, one of them literally ignored me for weeks, and then scheduled me for an appointment that I didn’t even confirm with him first, and came to me to have me pay a deposit after I hadn’t shown up for an appointment I had no idea I was supposed to be at. It was even more frustrating because by the time I had gotten an actual appointment set with him, I gave him total artistic freedom and told him I wanted it in black and grey, that was my only request. I come in day of the tattoo, and he has a color portrait tattoo set aside that I frankly was surprised to see, but I figured it would look cool anyways and decided I could always get another black and grey portrait somewhere else. So we get into the chair finally, and I try talking to him to which point he completely ignored me. Asked me to stop talking so that I’d stop moving so much. I was completely silent because I wanted my tattoo to turn out well, and when I was getting to a point where I couldn’t take the pain anymore, I asked him if we could take a break to which he said “just give me 5 more minutes.” Nearly ten minutes later I asked him to stop again, and he said “I’m really almost done, just wait.” I started crying and I was physically shaking from the pain and he still wouldn’t stop, so when he went back in for more ink I literally had to pick myself up off the chair to get away from him. He expected me to pay him 100$ more than what we agreed and it’s not even finished yet, because the design is huge. I’m not even really a huge fan of the tattoo anymore, but I figured it would be strange to let another artist finish what he had started so I’m going back unfortunately.
My second tattoo that was done by a male artist was a traditional rose on my calf, and we completed the linework, but he said he wasn’t looking to stay any later that night, (it was only 6 o clock and we were 2.5 hours in, which took him way longer than it needed to) so he made me come back in two weeks later. I told him after the two weeks that it wasn’t fully healed and I wanted to wait until it was fully healed to finish it. At this point, his linework was extremely sloppy and I hated it. He kept telling me that it was fine and that I should just come in so he could finish it. I had to basically tell him off because he wouldn’t listen to me, and we eventually rescheduled after a half hour of arguing about it. When I finally got back in for it, I told him to fix his lines and if I was okay with his work, he could put in some light shading, but there was no way in hell I was going to let him put color in the already shitty tattoo. So he fixed the lines, and they were mediocre I guess, not amazing but better than before. So I told him he could put some light shading in there. I shut my eyes and laid down, letting him do the shading, and after a lot of pain and realization that he had been in the same spot for a while, I got up to look and noticed he had been shading it so dark it was nearly black. When I tell you my heart sank, I was so pissed, but I wasn’t about to have half of it shaded that way so I let him finish it. He was so heavy handed, it was the most painful thing I’ve ever been through. I left with uneven shading and random black spots everywhere. And it’s huge too. I hate it to this day just because of the experience
Sorry you had to experience such a shitty tattoo Artist
I went into an all-male shop with my boyfriend for his first tattoo and the artist totally acted like that one TikTok, to a T, this made me laugh out loud at my job lmao. Such bad vibes.
i'm honestly so thankful that the male-owned studio i go to is full of warm and nice artists. i honestly love everybody there, even though only two of them have tattooed me.
I've had the male tattooist issue, at a studio I went back to about 11 years after I got my first tattoo. Most of my tattoos are covered and I wanted a small memorial tattoo so I walked in to book and he treated me so passive-aggressively. It wasn't until the owner came out and recognised me that this tattoo artist calmed his shit down.
I have a very high pain tolerance when it comes to tattoos, I even like to think of it as a therapy session cause everything is chill for me, makes me feel totally relaxed.
My last tattoo artist was a very nice young guy, he was one of the most polite people I've met, the session lasted for 4 hours and since he was a smoker I thought he would take at least one break in between.
He took one only after asking me, around hour 3 and a half, because he didn't wanna ruin my experience. Like, that man was super cool, I still remember that and how nice he was with me.
Great artist too!!
I was lucky enough to grow up around heavily tatooed people and good polite artists. Ive never heard from any woman I know having a problem with artists but I cant immagine having to deal with this let alone trust someone who would treat clients this way.
Tattoo tiktoks. Never let the rabbit hole end. Tattoo tiktoks forever
I love your videos they are so informative!! I hope people can grow up and leave you alone, you’re always super honest and open and able to admit when you are wrong and also handle things like an adult!!! Love you girllll keep doing what you’re doing!!
Thanks my lovely 🧡
While watching the "haunted hole" clip I realized someone out there is now thinking: "I've gotta one-up that." Good luck, unknown adventurer! 😂
Great video, Lauren! 😊
Bahahaha 😂 I hope for all our sake and entertainment a TikTok comes out of that situation!!
Thanks Josh 😃🧡
Your desciption of the black sleeve pealing feels relatable to me even though I've never had a tattoo, because I have psoriasis so I'm always a walking snow fest.... hehe.
The guy who makes the animation tattoos is just plain WIIIIIICKED. Never seen such a sick concept. I love it.
I have a tattoo from Phil! Not one of the animations, but something from his flash. He's super nice and the shop rules! highly recommend
The first tattoo I ever got was done by a guy and I was spoilt with him because he is so gentle, so respectful, a fantastic artist and just absolutely loved being tattooed by him so much so I travel like five hours to see him lol
"if you have a bad experience while getting a tattoo every time you look at it you will think of that bad time"
100%. I have a lot of tattoos and I vividly remember the experience of every one of them.
The wonderful people who have tattooed me, I remember them, and whenever I look at their work it's a happy memory of a lovely experience.
The rude, rough, impatient, etc, people, every time I look at the tattoo I do remember that too, and it hurts all over again. The feeling of shame for not being able to or not even knowing that I was allowed to stand up for myself. There weren't many bad experiences. Most artist I have worked with have been wonderful! If I had it to do over again I would have walked out of one or two.
I got my first tattoo the other day. He thought he had someone else that night so it ended up being an hour late. But he was so chill and gave a good vibe to the room. Joking and banter. Even said the whole “feel free to call me a bastard” was so good. And had the other artists coming in and that after they finished and was just chilling and a lot of mucking around. For the first tattoo, it was an awesome first experience.
You should do a video on your female presenting audiences horror stories with male tattoo artists. Because i never realised.
I feel like this series really captures the best of you and this channel
OK no but the male tattoo artist is real. I went with a friend for her first tattoo. Her mom died from a brain tumor so she wanted to get happy birthday on her wrist from the last card her mom sent her. The guy was so rude, she told him why she wanted ut and he was like "you sure you just want HApPy BirtHdAy on you arm? People won't get it" and than after the stencil he "corrected" the hand writing. It was wobbly because uh you know BRAIN TUMOR. We were both 18 and didn't know what to do. So crappy
Love the content coming out way. Thanks for helping us survive covid xxx
And thank you for watching 🥰🧡
Okay you look amazing in general but your neck looks sooooooo good!!!! Why do you have so many good artists in the UK??? I'm so jealous.
As a professional tattoo artist, some of these hurts so much to watch. Its not just about the uncovered places are unsanitary, small bloodparticles splatters everywhere and also, SKINparticles which is another ordeal that can make you and other people sick except the obvious blood.
aww that french duck was so cute!
Love watching your vids Lauren keep smashing ittt 👊🏽👊🏽 on a plus note I have a big tattoo session starting in October I’m finally starting a sleeve Portrait 😝
Wooooo 🥳 go you!!
That one about the make studio hit hard. My first ever tattoo he laughed at it but did it anyway but when he started it didn’t hurt as bad as I thought it would and so I said “oh that’s it? That’s not so bad!” Well he took it upon himself to take that as a challenge and he literally held my arm down while I swore and cried because he was pushing so hard and it’s now fully 3D and super scarred
The male tattoo shop gave me anxiety, I'm already not that comfortable around new men and environnements so I'm pretty sure I would have had a panick attack on top of me being berated for my hypersensitivity I have no control over... On a more positive note I got my first tattoo 5 months ago, a snake on my ribcage and the tattoo artist was absolutely wonderful. She wasn't bothered at all by having to replace the stencil or scheduling another appointement to finish. She was also very understanding about my issues and was impressed me and my friend decided on such placements for our first time
The film with the baby killing the mom- twilight 😹
Good to see you. Hope you’re doing well. Always enjoy the content.
I've, thankfully, never had an experience like the "predominantly male tattoo shop". All the dudes that have tattooed me have been really chill
“Where did you get this talent from?”
…people practicing for a long time
Just got back from homesense where ive spent way too much on Halloween goodies
No such thing as “spending too much” on Halloween stuff 👀😂
Congrats on all your goodies 🧡
I wanted to do an apprenticeship at one point and finally got the confidence to give it a try, the fist place I went to was a shop full of guys- asked if they would consider taking on an apprentice to which he told me " I cant hire young attractive females, y'know dont want to get my boys in trouble with their wives". I uh havent tried again since then💀
That’s sexual harassment and I‘m so sorry for you! Maybe looking into shops that have female owners/ artists could help?
4:50 I'm so glad my tattoo artist is chill and so are the guys he works with. I've had most of my tattoos done by him, two of which are on my calf which involuntarily twitches ever so often when I get tatted, and he is so chill and understanding that it isn't something I can control. Even one of his coworkers told me not to worry about it or feel bad after I apologized because quote, "don't feel bad, its involuntary, we know you can't help it." its unfortunate that some artist treat their clients like this.
Your face on the thumb nail screams “DISAPPOINTED!” Lol!
I got so lucky for my first tattoo. My artist was actually floored when I showed him my outline sketch and it's exactly as I drew it, plus some beautiful freehand work. It's my favorite!
I remember getting my first big piece and it was on my ribs, the artist was a complete asshole, didn't let me take a single break in the 6 hours he was tattooing me - not even to go to the bathroom!! Then told me to stop being a baby cos I was crying in pain. So glad I found my forever artist now 🖤
out of all my 6 tattoos I have had 4 tattoo artists and 3 of them were females and the first tattoo I got was by a man. he literally gave me very similar vibes to that tiktok around the 5min-7min mark of the video.
in that he went soo deep for a first tattoo definitely compared to the other tattoos I have and it was my first tattoo. it didn't stop me getting more but it was my worse experience compared to the rest I've had in hindsight
My favorite tattoo story I have is actually from my most recent visit. My boyfriend and I were booked for the whole day for our anniversary. I was getting some more shading done on an old tattoo and then we both were getting ones from the anime 7 deadly sins. Mine went normal. But when my boyfriend was getting his done my tattoo artist was really struggling to get the ink to hold. It was in a very difficult spot on my boyfriend where his skin dipped quite a bit. My tattoo artist is really good and has never had any issues with any of my tattoos. But my boyfriends skin was for some reason just not wanting to hold the ink. So it took as long as both of my tattoos I got that day. He loves it and it turned out absolutely perfect but I remember my artist (who we are both friends with) had to go outside after and all 3 of us were dying laughing about it. Cause it was almost comedic how difficult his skin seemed to be.
I'm so glad my first tattoo was done by a guy who made sure i was 100% comfortable and has been so kind and fun the whole time. I'm very happy with his work too, and can't wait to go back in a couple of months 💛
But it's sad that i should count myself lucky too for having a good experience with a male tattoo artist.
I’m really lucky because I have a male and female tattoo artist that work together in the same shop and they are so amazing! They make you feel so comfortable and he has a massive tv with Netflix for you to watch. They both have really set the bar high for me as artists and I now refuse to go to any others 😂 they are so welcoming and calm as well as making you feel so damn comfortable and happy with your tatt, no matter how many times you change it or need breaks.
“Oh boy, we’re on number 8 now”
Lauren I’ve been watching you for years but I finally got my first tattoo last week and looking forward to getting many more thank you so much for all your videos you made feel so at ease before I even went! Love you xx
Ah YAAAY!! So happy for you!! Hope it all went well and happy healing 😄🧡
I’m just in love with that moon tapestry it’s just… I look at it every TH-cam video lol
I’m honestly shocked there are such judgmental tattoo artists out there like in that one tiktok you showed with the girl reenacting them. I recently went to a tattoo shop to get an appointment for my first tattoo and the tattoo artist tattooed my mom a few years back and he was really kind and even recognized me because I was there during my moms appointment and asked about her tattoo, how it healed etc. and asked half jokingly what she’s thinking of me getting a tat. Another tattoo artist that worked on her sleeve was also really kind. I tagged along for two of her appointments because it was far away and I wanted to help her a bit with buying snacks etc. and he was also really really kind and when I told him I considered becoming a tattoo artist even showed/explained to me some stuff about cross contamination. I’m so glad my mom and I have never come across such artists and everyone I’ve been in contact with has been so kind. You said it yourself as well, you’re honoured to have someone’s work on you and they are honoured to be allowed to get to tattoo you and have their work on you permanently
Thank god I have such a good tattoo artist that I still use to this day.
The mean old guy saying bad things about you in your back, when you can hear? Yeah, I've had that. Too real
Wow the male dominated skit was what really something that really worried me about getting mine. The studio I go to tho are lovely, like a family and wholesome I loved when id planned to get but suddenly when I got to the studio I suddenly felt really insecure i was just getting 'boring typical flowers' but then the artist a big block who i chose as i loved his execution of them cane to me and said with a friendly smile 'you want the delicate peony piece' and the way he said it instantly put me at ease as I knew one he understood what I wanted and I wasn't getting judged.
Hey hun. Watched this today and the second tiktok that u have watched on here I have the pleasure of knowing they are both amazing people xx
I'm so lucky with my tattoo artist. The guy is great, he's hella funny, he picks up on when I'm hurting and offers breaks. I love that dude and I'll probably keep going to him until he stops tattooing.
As someone who picks at my skin obsessively until I have massive scars that take months to heal on uncontrollable impulse, I wouldn’t be able to leave a tattoo alone. If I got one I’d have to have it wrapped up completely.
GIRL !! that’s crazy !! ur the first other person i’ve ever heard say that they can’t burp either ! LMFAO i have finally found somebody who gets me!
I love how the tiktok poking fun at cliche tattoos had "believe" spelt wrong 😂😂😂
My mum's old colleague has a care bear tattoo sleeve. And it is absolutly amazing!
That kawaii orange juice tattoo... omg so frickin' adorable!!
I remember I had gone to a few shops for price checks on a simple tribal lion head. This one, told me 300 for the piece (a 30 minute piece) and When I went to my car to go look at other shops, They followed me out, Told me they really wanted to be able to talk to me right them in there, And I felt pressured into doing it. It healed very patchy and ink came off in some places so I have to get it redone. But the whole situation honestly just made me want to cover it up. It was supposed to be a meaningful tattoo, But the meanings been covered up by the bad experience I had at that shop.
As someone who is dating a doctor, they have, in fact, seen it all
The believe lady spelt it wrong 😂. I was Triggered
