    i've always been airdrying my hair and it always ends up in me having frizzy, uneven hair :\. I really wanna try out diffusing because it takes 5 hours for my hair to completely dry and it will speed up the process but also so that i can get a more even curl pattern

    my hair is low porosity and pretty thin so I find that everytime i air dry it i dont get as much definition or volume because my hair takes a long time to dry and because it's thin it also get weighed down by all the water weight. Just my personal experience for anyone who has the same problem. I often blowdry with a cool setting to avoid heat damage :)

    I actually really like both your diffused and air-dried hair! It looks great with both the smaller and the bigger clumps. But definitely, time is a BIG factor when deciding if you want to air-dry.

    Your channel has helped me so much - our hair is so similar and this is helping me figure out what to do/what not to do with my hair as I'm just starting the CG method. I haven't bought a diffuser yet and have been air drying, which definitely seems to make my hair stringier and stretched out. Also I had no idea you were supposed to put in that much gel! This explains a lot hahah

    I can say I air dry most of the times, except a little bit diffusing right now cause it’s so cold (and I wash early in the morning before leaving to work). And I think this is a better option to make our hair healthier, than diffusing, since I don’t have all the diffusing time which is normally needed. But although my high po hair dries completely in an hour, this time is longer the more product (most of all gel) I apply, so now I prefer using only conditioner as a leave in, or a true leave in, then I let air dry: best and faster result (and don’t mind a minimal frizz)

But don't give up! Hang in there! For me what helps is finding new tips, like the rice water rinse, for example. I tried that once and it did wonders! I don’t do it very often but that might be why I struggle with stretched out curls. 😁

  • @hardenzielig
    @hardenzielig 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Same here ;) with diffusing I have more curl and volume, which I personnaly like more.... it's just that water is weight, and weighs the hair down so fine haired (and higher porosity) people can benefit by diffusing to get rid of this extra weight so it won't stretch the curls out.

I normally apply soaking wet, plop for a min of 20 minutes and air dry. Then scrunch it out. Works pretty well. When I try to diffuse, I can see little frizzes pop up almost immediately. I get no cast.

    • @hardenzielig
      @hardenzielig 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elizabethpassini9271 when you have good results with the products combined with airdrying, I guess it might be the way of diffusing that causes the littles frizzies. It's normal though that with airdrying the cast can be harder/better. When I diffuse my hair is going through a stage of wet, slightly cast, cast , and how drier it goes the cast releases to soft curls...the clumps itselves have more body in comparison to airdrying is my experience. Last couple of months I started using way less leave-in then before, now I only use the smallest amount just to get a bit of slip which provides me to get my hair clumped nicely, and not more... reason is to get more body and volume in my fine hair. But when it comes to diffusing: have you ever seen the following video's , may be you could watch it and try the technique that's used in it..

    Do you always use a hair oil to dry scrunch or only if theres a gel cast/crunch?

    • @rachellep2581
      @rachellep2581 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should always apply a sealent oil at the end of your washdays styling. It is great for the health of your hair. Using a oil at the end of washday is a great way to lock in moisture and maintain it for day 2 and 3 and on. The oil is used to set your style and stop friz it does this by locking out humidity, and sheilding your hair from environmental factors. Their are many sealant oils from super light to the more heavy. I believe their is one for every hair type!❤. Important note Make sure to use a sealant oil, also sealant oils should only be applied to already moisturized hair. A sealent oil is used to maintain moisture and set style, it should never be mistaken for a hair moisturizer.

    I need to figure out how to air dry my hair 😅 it's nearly to my waist, so I can't just let it sit and air dry because it touches and rubs on literally everything and I'd love to find a way where I can air dry it without leaving it down. I also can't plop because it makes my hair so frizzy, even with a t-shirt, because my hair is so damaged and I find the plop takes too much moisture out of my hair. Would love to have any suggestions that won't take my hair 8 hours to dry

    • @SwavyCurlyCourtney
      @SwavyCurlyCourtney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ohhhh so this is kinda tricky for sure. What you might do is is drape a scarf around your shoulders while you dry. Then if you sit somewhere you could drape the scarf of the back of the chair or couch and "prop" up your hair. I tend to sit under a ceiling fan while I air dry to help speed up the process. What do you think?

    I have to air dry. My hair gets way too frizzy diffusing, even on the lowest air flow with no heat. I don't think putting my hair in a pineapple at night works for me either. I just started the CGM on my 2B hair three weeks ago. The first week my hair looked great! Now, I got some funky Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman thing going on! Not. Good.

    What is a cast?

    • @Ann4U2000
      @Ann4U2000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A cast is what most gel products give(hair feels crunchy when dry) that help with definition and hold. after your hair is totally dry, whether air drying or diffusing...you break the cast by scrunching upwards and it makes the hair go back to soft mode...and it holds those pretty waves and curls.

    Have you ever tried Monat hair products? I have a friend that sells it and she is really pressuring me to get some. I’m just scared to spend THAT much money on hair care! I just can’t spend that much without knowing if it’s good or not. So, just curious if you’ve tried it.

    • @Steamed1Veggies
      @Steamed1Veggies 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Monat is a MLM(uses shady business practices imho) and their products are known to create hairloss. You can read more about multi level marketing(MLM) on reddit antimlm or do your own Internet search. PLEASE do an Internet search about Monat hairloss. Do not ruin your hair by using their products. Also, I hope your friend stops selling Monat products. MLMs are notorious for causing financial hardships/bankruptcy for a lot of their distributors. Hope you find a healthy hair product that works for you.
