    I remember needing a noise filter on my car radio when I was in high school. Made a big difference!

      The best noise filter I could get would involve selling this Jeep.

      Usually a noise choke is nothing more than what resembles a transformer a choke one in one out wound on a standard small transformer core and an electrolytic capacitor wired inline on the (+) Hot Red wire side … I believe it to mostly be the capacitor doing most of the filtering however yes the windings of the coke cancel out that annoying turbo sounding whine in your radio speaker That only gets Louder & Higher in Pitch as the Engine RPM spins up the alternator faster … lil😢😮. Yes, they do work..!! On car stereos and amplifiers .. audio and RF ..!! Just be certain you install one that can carry the load .. or just make one yourself …

    I gotta get one of these for my President CB & Midland GMRS. My CB has a ton of engine noise, my GMRS hardly has any at all but it couldn't hurt!

    Thank you 😊 This helped explain the wire colors on the filter. Can the filter be installed (wired) starting on the fuse box and then to an aftermarket wiring harness to my new stereo?

    Where did you tap sir? Red wire from ignition or the yellow wire(constant) direct from the battery

    • @HNXMedia
      @HNXMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Red wire from the radio.

    Just curious does this connect after the fuses from the battery? Or bypass the original factory fuse?

      All my radios are wired directly to the battery. So, it goes Radio > Noise Filter > Fuse on Positive Wire > Positive Wire to Battery / Negative Wire to Battery. Hope this makes sense.

    Would this work better than using ferrite beads? I know the 980 has a noise blanker built in but it doesn't really help all that much.

      Noise blankers on modern radios in modern cars are about worthless (mostly a sales gimmick). NBs were designed for when cars made a lot more "electrical noise" back in the day (think pre-2000s, more so the 70s/80s). This filter helped me a ton, but snapping on a few ferrite beads is never a bad idea. Both in combination should work fantastic. Best of luck. Thanks for watching, stay well and I'll catch you on the airwaves.

    I had noise in my stereo so I read its from a bad ground I ran a dedicated line from the - battery to the stereo and no more ground noise. But when I get on the gas a bit now I hear a whining from the alternator I guess. My question is should I run a dedicated ground to this suppresor? Otherwise I would connect it with all the others to my dash ground. Thanks

      Dedicated grounds are always better when/where possible. Hope this helps.

      Not sure, but for the value and ease of installation, it is worth a shot.

      Heck, I just wish I had an Icom 7000 to put it on 😎. Hope the video was helpful.

    Hi and thanks for the video, just one question please: the noise filter needs a positive and ground input (you got the positive from the battery and the ground connected to the car’s body) in order to give a positive output to power the radio but the radio also needs of a ground in order to turn on…. Where does it gets that ground connection?

    • @HNXMedia
      @HNXMedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is hooked up only on the positive between the radio and the battery. The noise filter is "straight line" on the positive. It does not require a negative lead. You do not do anything to the radio's black wire.
