      Is there a difference between tbe American Eskimo and Japanese Spitz?
      Both are White Spitz dogs just wondering

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, there is a difference. They’re different breeds of dog, differently sized, different personalities, each breed is used for different types of activities/work.
      My family had an American Eskimo when I was growing up. He was smaller than a Samoyed, a medium sized dog.

      @@YetisPlace Thank you so much for responding!!
      Cause i know the fur repels dirt on Japanese spitz but
      Eskimos dont have that kind of fur
      Also google has some misinformation calling them the same dog!!
      Also didn't want to possibly get Scammed
      do you know how one would look into getting a Japanese Spitz or reliable ways to look for dogs?
      Also apperently they dont shed too much but im allergic but i still really want one!! i took some shots to get rid of my allergies so i should be good

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A reliable place would be to go to a dog show. Reliable breeders show their dogs there.

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could Google dog shows. I’m unsure if those shows would list the dogs competing and breeder names, but in the age of Covid, that might be a good place to look. Depending on your country, there could be audience limitations for attendance. Perhaps the dogs competing, would list breeders names, email, phone numbers. It might be worth looking into.

      The Japanese Spitz is an offspring of a German Spitz. I have an American Spitz also known as Eskimo dog.
      Pomeranians is it offshoot from a spitz.

    I don't think those are Japanese spitz in the intercut videos? They look more like Pomeranians, having said that I bet it's hard to get stock footage of Japanese spitz dogs

    Funnily enough…. We have both, and somehow they are the reverse of what you say here. Our Sammy boy slowed down and became mega chill after around 2 years old. Almost a bit lazy even. He enjoys long, calm walks and the occasional play, but he is okay snoozing a good chunk of the day. Our JS girl is compressed energy and needs a lot of convincing if you want her to settle down and nap. Unless I sit down with her and rub her tummy, she never stops. She also love pulling scooters (gently downhill mostly, never up), mostly because she needs to RUN. Our Sammy just trots along, doing the bare minimum.
    All dogs are on a spectrum and our two are just in the opposing limits for their breed 😂

    First, I watch all your TH-cam videos. You share so much value. Thank you so much. Secondly, I’m so excited! I finally just recently received/adopted my Samoyed puppy. Her name is Khaleesi Snow Bear. She’s 9 weeks young. After having her for only one day, we are having a challenging time crate training her! Although it’s only been one day. Any other suggestions? By the way, Your puppy potting training videos have been very helpful. In the second day, we had no incidents.
    Back to the crate training. She goes in and out her crate with the gate open. However, Again she just does not like staying in her crate. She howls all night (the first night). I’m hoping she settles down tonight. Any other suggestions will be helpful. Also, would you mind if I ask other questions. If so, how do I reach you. Thank you again.

      Thank you, Barbara for the compliments on my channel.
      Huge congrats to you on your baby fuzz, Khaleesi Snow Bear. You must be a Game of Thrones fan too! Khaleesi was my favorite character.
      All puppies need so much patience. Khaleesi’s adjusting to being away from her littermates, mother, breeder and is a new, unknown home, with different smells and environment. Please be patient and give her time to adjust. Glad to hear she’s doing great with potty training!
      Here’s a video on crate training to give you some help. Have patience, because it does take time. Khaleesi’s dragons took time to breathe fire, just as your Khaleesi will take time to become your perfect little Princess.

    • @YetisPlace

      That’s a great question. Puppies never empty their bladders fully with their first potty. When you bring her outside, make sure she goes potty twice. I would also bring outside around every hour, since she’s a little older, whether or not she has to go.

    how often do samoyeds need haircuts?

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never. If you cut a Sam’s hair, you damage their coats, make them prone to sunburn, overheating and freezing.

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sammies need to be brushed on a daily or every other day basis, but not trimmed. You can trim underneath their paws, in between their foot pads though.

    So why is the Samoyed ok for people with Alergies and the Spitz is NOT.. I have a 12 year old who is allergic that has wanted a Sammy for years. I have multiple 5 page papers why a Sammy makes a good pet, but the daily grooming seems Daunting

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sammies aren’t good dogs for people with allergies. My nephew is allergic to dogs and has terrible allergies when around my Sam and the other Sams in my family.

    • @YetisPlace
      @YetisPlace  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don’t have oils in their coats, but every single allergen gets trapped inside their thick fur and is spread throughout your home.
