Hi Ian, I received my Hebridean including the remote control last week and have started making it, currently doing the trunk, I want to thank you for your videos as without them I think it would be beyond me. I sail my Jaguar 25 out of the Crouch so would love to buy you a pint at some point ! all the best Mark
Hi Mark, glad you are finding the videos useful, just make sure to read the instructions carefully, measure three times, cut once! We are based at Tollesbury in a different boat. We have a Moody 34 called Sun and Air and normally visit the Crouch two or three times in a season. If you see us about just make yourself known, if you have any problems or questions just let me know. Ian
Nice kit. I was thinking about building Walt Murray design but this kit would save so much time! I think I might order the hardware kit without timber. I hope you ship to US.
Hi, I'm just waiting for my H2 kit to arrive.....definitely inspired by watching your videos. Can you remember what size plywood sheet I need for marking out? Regards, Mike
I would contact the manufacturer for his opinion. My feeling is that it might be a bit lightweight, but it also depends on how easily the boat handles when properly trimmed. Any windvane can be overpowered if the sail trim is not maintained especially in high winds. Hope this helps.
Hi Michael, sorry, no. But the process is really straightforward. A couple of cuts with a hacksaw and chisel out the core of grouve, then I used a round rasp and a finger width belt sander to open it out. You can also wrap the turret with sandpaper and use it to sand with. All you need to do is NOT rush it. I tended to keep the camera away while sanding for obvious reasons. The instructions with the plans for this are really clear. Hope this helps, Ian
Knapweed, see my previous answers above. Sorry but I didn't video the cutting, but the use of the turret wrapped in sandpaper is probably be the best approach for the final fit
The pre-cut metal is a significant advance. When I made mine I had to spend several days hacksawing stainless-steel, which wasn't very fun! Anyone curious can find my construction blog and follow-up posts here tammynorie.wordpress.com/tag/hebridean/

You need to go to www.windvaneselfsteering.co.uk who are the manufacturers. I just assembled a kit and filmed it.
That rattly screwdriver sound takes me back to the days of Barry Bucknell. lol
Put a link to buy the kit.
Hi, the website to order from is in the title sequence. I have no other connection except building a kit

Hi Mike, I used a half sheet of 6mm ply that I had around. Glad you liked the videos.
What is the book at 2:28 ?
The books are the plans and instructions for the build
Would this steer a 35ft, 12 ton yacht?

Thanks for taking the time to reply!!
Do you have any video or pictures of cutting extension to fit the turret?

brilliant idea on wrapping the turret with sand paper... just starting my H1 ...
videos are awesome.. thank you
Michael
Glad you enjoyed them
@@michaelgoodwin8893 I second that. My H2 kit arrived this morning (Canada doesn't like importing wood) and these videos are a tremendous help.

Hi, I could not agree more. If I had to cut and drill all the metal I don't think I would have built it. 😀
