So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.

I think having it as an option is definitely nice, assuming the storage is fast. It will somewhat degrade storage life span, but it's not going to be significant for the vast majority of users. They just don't have the read/write cycles for it to matter, unless they used truly awful storage.

Spec-wise the OnePlus tablet has a much better screen (higher refresh also means more responsive for drawing), double the memory, presumably better speakers and I'm assuming cheaper storage upgrades.

Odds are it would be used so little that it's fine, but at the same time, I would never make a swap partition on an install that uses a SSD. 8GB should be more than enough memory, the battery would probably be degraded before the SSD goes bad due to swap space usage...maybe, we don't really have concrete numbers on either really. Windows uses a page file instead of swap, but it's basically the same concept. With LTE or 5G options available on all US carriers.
Yes I know the argument can be made that our phones are about that size. But the UI is very phone like on all of those screens that are roughly that size because they are phones. and the UA string of a lot of web browsers default to mobile web pages on our phones that are that size. Desktop web pages don't look great on a narrow rectangle phone versus a more squarish rectangle of a tablet screen. Yes I know aspect ratio has something to do with it. But a 16x10 aspect ratio seems to be the good happy medium between 16:9 and 4:3 of the iPad. For book reading and media consumption 16:10 would suffice. Obviously also with the latest version of one UI and Android with the new dock thing they do. I would buy one on day one of release until then I'm stuck with a crappy iPad mini 6 that I only really use for 8 inches of Google maps in the car. iOS is stale and boring even almost 17 versions into it.

Gawd, no hate to Reiley.. Riley? Railai... I can't spell names. No hate to moustache man here, but I cannot stand how everything gets compared to Apple. Oh, rounded corners? They're trying to be apple. A semi-transparent background? Apple, def. A floating dock? Oh, that's totally apple, no doubt. Like, just the most mundane, seen-everywhere-a-thousand-times-before-apple-did-it shit. I swear if Windows 11 lets users slap the taskbar on top again we'll see articles claiming Windows 11 is trying to be like apple..

I felt I was exaggerating here, but then they got into saying that the standard looking menu was definitely apple, the rounded corners on the notification is apple, and... having a notes app is apple, even though... like, are you serious? Or is the whole thing a bit specifically at my expense? If so, that's mean, guys.

To be fair to the stand, the picture on the box is exactly how the stand is standing up. The box doesn't show the tablet in the stand.

It’s a surprisingly realistic facsimile of an iPad. That’s an accomplishment. As an iPad user, I would feel comfortable switching to the Oneplus if I had to, and if that was their goal, they did it.

2:57 I have the new OnePlus 11 and it came with a similar charger but 80W .. and i can see the benefit of having an USB A charger, because I ca use it to charge some other devices with any kind of cables. - Yes, USB C is getting more and more popular and has lots of benefits over USB A, but for charging only, no data, I think the USB A will work for me...

May I ask if there is anything annoying about the software on that phone, I'm worried as I here about it online. (Also what phone your coming from)

@@northerner4995For few months this year I had a Pixel 7 Pro - which had many hardware issues with the screen flickering... until last week when I got the Oneplus 11.
      - Yes, I was also afraid that this phone will be far from the stock Android - just by seeing that it has its own android themed os - Oxygen 13 - which does have lots of useless preloaded apps for things Google is already offering - and that's relatively true with 9 Oneplus apps that I don't use and keep them hidden in a folder.
The overall Software is not far from Android 13 as I experienced on the Pixel 7 Pro, but there are few thing different, like the settings menu which is slightly different organized - in a good way, very apple like. One thing is missing and I can find it annoying is that there's no option to hide the pattern on the lock screen when drawing it. Hope it can be fixed with the next update. Mostly I use the Fingerprint scanner which works pretty good so far...
Other phones I considered with the Oneplus 11 were the ASUS ROG 6 and the Sony Xperia 5 IV. Which I didn't went with because Asus is way too expensive for what it offers and Sony is still running Android 11 - so OnePlus11 was the best performance for the $ spent... and I'm happy with it overall. This is my first OnePlus, in the past having Huawei P30, Pixel 1, Asus Padfone, etc.
Probably you've noticed that I didn't mention Samsung. Well, because they have the same problem as Apple - an amazing piece of hardware that has changed the Android dramatically, with lots and lots of proprietary apps that I don't wanna use - because I'm already using them from Google. So, no thank you!
Hope my opinion can help you decide! Don't rush and try to see them before you buy them! Good luck!

@@jbnelson but the phones don’t and I hate that, and do iPads still come with a charger? I know my current one came with one but at the time the iPhone were in the last year of chargers i think, therefore I am not shure, but when they still come with a charger it is nice, then I am only salty about the removal of the headphone jack until they remove the charger in the next like two years or so

You want more Android tablets, but the Samsung Tab S8 is better than any iPad (for my use case). I'd hate an iPad but I love the Tab S8

It's the top in portrait mode so the speakers don't blast into a couch or lap, and that's why the power button and volume buttons aren't on the top right in landscape mode. I don't mind that button and orientation layout overall. The lack of stereo speakers is somewhat disappointing though. I think the keyboard and stylus are overpriced, especially the feature limited keyboard, but I don't dislike the price of the pad itself. I'm not sure the relative performance of the processor in this one though so that would require some more looking into
