    All the fur I brush from my bunnies I collect and keep in a little bag so one day i’ll be able to make needle felt toys of them with their own fluff 🥺

      @Iuvryujin it’s wool thats matted together using a special needle to create models of things (usually cute animals) if you youtube or look up online you can find loads of tutorials 💕

    This video felt like a HUGE flex because our rabbit refuses to be brushed! LOL, we're still trying to condition him to enjoy it or at least tolerate it somehow though

      my two male 2 year old dwarf lops hate being pet and groomed. It's such a stressful experience for them and me. I try and try to get them to trust me but just as I build some goodwill in their eyes then I have to take them to the vet for their vaccine or something else happens and then they get angry at me and hold a grudge for ages ...

    Rabbits have a ONE way tract system so brushing is one of the most important care tips. Many different methods depending on who you talk to but I love that you say to make it an enjoyable experience for them. Once people establish that with their buns it makes it easier to do on both ends.

    • @Katesque
      @Katesque  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely! It’s a very necessary thing to do for them I can’t imagine they like eating all that loose fur 😅

    I find that a diy hair buster made from a flea comb works a lot more effectively at brushing the fur from my bun's butt and thighs compared to the hairbuster from small pets select. There is also a small pet furminator that is really useful for brushing out the top coat when rabbits shed but can lead to overbrushing if misused and also has small blades I think. To be honest hairball blockages aren't really a cause of GI Stasis but more a result of it. The cause would be not eating enough hay and water thus resulting in the slowing down of the gut system, and if the rabbit grooms themselves while experiencing GI stasis then fur can accumulate, same with veggies and pellets.

    • @cathyhuynh3339
      @cathyhuynh3339 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same the hair buster doesn’t even work on my rabbit that’s a mix of Havana and something else. idk why the flea comb grabs more and it’s more easy to work with. I guess it’s the type of fur that he has

    • @SammiJN1991
      @SammiJN1991 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What have you used for a hairbuster? I have a comb with an elastic band wrapped between the comb but it's useless on them! I have the small furminator brush and it works better on one than my other! I recently picked up another silicone brush and that works better than the other I have haha! Still not amazing though!

      @@SammiJN1991 I use a flea comb with a rubber band too lol I haven’t tried other brushes I might try rubber dog ones I heard is good

      Thanks for clearing that up and explaining the cause of gi stasis more thoroughly! And yes I totally agree the hair buster isn’t the only comb you can use especially for different fur types for bunnies xx

      @@SammiJN1991 u can go watch lennon the bunny's hair buster diy video! u dont have to have the one with 2 rows though, 1 works fine. i have one and it works really great! the cons of it is just it's a bit small, so i might buy a bigger flea comb and diy it again 😅

  • @siti-op1gb
    @siti-op1gb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    i've a rabbit and he's my first rabbit so i'm still learning but i've heard that you need to really brush your rabbit everywhere even their stomach and near their genitals, my rabbit doesn't have a buddy because unfortunately my mom doesn't allow it :( i tried to groom my rabbit there today and it seems really matted, i managed to get some out but i can't really get a good look at it, my rabbit's quite a scardy cat so when i hold him he curls his head to his foot, i was wondering if anyone has any tips for me to be able to groom that area? ❤️❤️

      Oh no, do not start brushing your bunny until they have a line in their fur sorta like a dent, I haven’t started brushing my bun yet, but I recommend starting to do it a 6 months of age or when their poop may be linked with hair. Hope this helped :). P.s my bun is 4 months old

    The more I brush my rabbit, the worse it gets. So no, brushing is not needed. Brushing disrupts the natural shedding system because good hairs will be removed as well. And the combs are damaging to the rabbits skin! It's a bad idea. The only way is using a wet cloth to get rid of loose hairs or a soft brush made of swine hair
