I don't know any other celebrity past or present who's as completely dashing, lovely, kind and funny as David Tennant. I grew up with him as the Doctor, and it feels so good to me that David seems just as brilliant and morally upstanding as the character he played.
Being a fan of a certain vintage (I'm only two years behind him) there was this sense of the lunatics suddenly running the asylum - which absolutely wasn't the case when I grew up with it. David was absolutely right to see it as a potential poisoned chalice because he would have been through the changes in perspective on what is now called the 'classic' series. Instead it really came to define him and I don't know how much he resents that. If I had to guess - and I have never met him - I suspect not much!
I like this part of your sentence: "lunatics suddenly running the asylum" because david's first big on-screen role was in a tv show called Takin' over the Asylum 😂
David has managed to forge a successful career off the back of Doctor Who from Broadchurch to Jessica Jones and Good Omens so he certainly hasn't been typecast from Doctor Who. Otherwise he wouldn't have come back for the 50th and the 60th. The show surged in popularity under him which I'm sure he'd never claim any responsibility for, as modest as he is. I expect he sees it only as a blessing as his career skyrocketed and he got to play the Doctor in the show that inspired him to become an actor as a kid. On top of that, he meets and marries the love of his life, who just happens to be the real-life daughter of one of his childhood Doctors. The man is seriously living the dream.

Wow, 2007. I really did enjoy David Tennants doctor back then. Was also great last year in 2023 😊
David Tennant is not only a DW fanboy who got to play the Doctor, but his wife is the Doctor’s Clone/Daughter & his father-in-law is the Fifth Doctor.
and his child is now a freak that has turned him into a nutter. I'm sure Peter Davison is not as vocal about his grandchilds ludicrous persona.
Capaldi was a fan boy too being a member of the DWAS in the 70s...
Never ever watched one Episode of the Doctor, but Broadchurch and numerous other programs he's pretty bloody good
The dark serial killer role was really amazing.
David smiles with his eyes. I couldn't love him more. 💟
Honestly, this was such a great interview
Idk how I feel about Jamie Oliver being the inspiration for the 10th doctor's look 😂
But the interview is from 2007 - "The Doctor's Daughter" aired in 2008 & no wife 'till 2011 😅

Doctor Who fan who got to be THE Doctor?
Peter Capaldi!
🤔
Peter Capaldi is the extreme Doctor Who fan that became The Doctor. David still was a fan though.
I think both are very extreme Doctor Who fans though.
@@BumbimT-800that was my understanding as well. They were both huge fans.
Actually both were really huge fans of the show
Capaldi wrote to the Radio Times about Dr Who and Tennant stood in queue to get a book signed by Tom Baker.
It's not a competition
