    I love this video. I am a Pastor's wife and recently started playing in the church after we lost our regular piano player. I tried to take one-on-one lessons and failed horribly. I find that I can relate well to your form of teaching. I am looking forward to learning more.

    I really appreciate your philosophy on teaching chords first. It trains students to internalize theory and harmony intuitively and aurally as well as technically.

    Finally someone make it easier for me to understand why, why, how, how & what those 4 major chords are for. THANK YOU! God bless.

      @@pianoly My girlfriend loves the song "Honey in the Rock," which uses the same chords! However, I'll have to transcribe the song to C so I can play it using the chords you taught me in this video. Will you do a video on transcription someday?

    • @pianoly
      @pianoly  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh wow I’ll have to check that song out. Amazing that you know about transcription. Yes, I’m sure there will be a video about that soon!

  • @aszandek
    @aszandek ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Hi, That is great! Thanks. By the way, the C major descripton on top (from 1:18), has a small mistake. The green mark is on the Eb, so it is a C minor, but you played and told it well. (You can repair that video if you want.) All the best, keep going!!!

    It is amazing how much one can learn just by watching you play. I'm a beginner, and am now learning chords (still learning the scales, though). I began playing "Let It Be", and started in middle C like you do. However, I was inexperienced enough that I moved my right hand "UP" to get to the Gmajor instead of moving my hand DOWN to get to the G. No wonder it didn't sound right. Too focused on playing the G moving up, probably because that's the way I learned scales (C>D>E>F>G, etc.) and subsequent chords (triads) moving up while in Cmajor. Thanks for straightening me out.

    Thanks al lot for th video. I'm a bass player and I have been getting really into learning my fretboard, scales and modes. Eventually I want to create melodies with my midi keyboard to go along with my bass! Have a good day.

    Kaitlyn, I have a question for you. In this video from 1:20 (time into video) to about 4:08 you demonstrated the chords C major, F major, G major and A minor. In your demo, you proceeded up the scale (to the right) with the chords following C major. Then when you did the demo using these chords for the song “Let It Be”, you start with C major at the “C4” point on the scale but then used the other 3 chords going down the scale (to the left). That threw me since you demoed the last 3 chords (prior to the song) going up the scale. I get it that those are the correct chords, but is there anything on the play sheet that would convey that direction relative the C major? Also at 1:17, the graphic image of the C major chord has illustrates a black key with green coloring to indicate to strike that key. I assume this is just a typo, correct? Kaitlyn, you are a brilliant instructor. I am sooo enjoying your TH-cam channel and am an older student who want to play the songs that I love using your methods. Thanks, Mark in Woodland CA

    Wow! What awesome class, thank you a lot for that! My favorite is the 3rd, the waves arpeggio, due I realized it sounds amazing with the sus pedal, and once the two hands are flowing coordinatelly it's like an hypnotic trance... really sounds like magical waves... and I was surfing them...what a feeling! Then the most challenging was the 6th, two octave arpeggios, due this cross thumb on the forth note, who has to jump 3 keys instead the one we get used on the scales technique... so really big jump for my clumsy thumb... 😛but I will keep practicing until master it due you're right, arpeggios are really amazing!!!
