Wow, I can’t believe that you are thanking us the viewers. You did all the work and took all the risk, especially without having a mate there in case something went horribly wrong. So, let me say thank you to you. I’ve done a lot of climbing many many years ago and now the bug is biting me again so all the beta helps. I subscribed and obviously did the thumbs up, and most importantly, really enjoyed and learned some things from your very well done selfie, lol. You can count on me to watch quite a few more!
Great vid, bro. Props for mentioning Dave McLeod. I am a shunt man myself. That and a Ropeman 1 for backup for all TR solo work. McLeod is the shunt BOSS!
For soloing I hate Petzl rig: it can easily be opened when unloaded. Grigri only can crossload carabiners unless tied with a cord or care taken. Shunt does not work with upside down falls and it can bend with single ropes and rope slips out. For whatever method I always use a different device for backup and mostly something that works with upside down falls too.
Great video, thanks for sharing! I was wondering why you rebelay the second time off of the single bolt rather than leaving the weight on the anchor? (Obvs still backed up by this though) is it related to the distance you are from that weighted piece? Just curious :)
How long of a static rope do you use? Looks like the tree belays are a good distance from the egde on this route. Do you have a recommendation for a good length to give you lots of flexibility for different routes? Great videos mate, cant wait for the next
I've got a cupboard full of ropes but normally pick up a 50m, it's the right sort of length most of the time, it's definitely the length I'd recommend. Glad you liked it :)
If working it on my own on a grigri / shunt, normally yes. If there's much chance of taking some falls then I'd definitely go for a dynamic. As soon as it's top roping with a partner then definitely a dynamic.

Thanks Jez
Perfect, I've been researching this and we'll try it for the first time tomorrow. Well timed and happy birthday to the Welsh pup.
Hope it goes well!
what a beautiful littlie place that crag is.
Nice job man! Thanks for taking us through the process. Have fun projecting!
Cheers!
What lovely ride to get to the crag! So chilled.
Can't complain!

Happy birthday Oreo! (I think that’s his name?) good luck with the proj!
Cheers!
Thanks for the video Mate!! Climb On Man :-)
Pleasure :)
Great video... Happy birthday to the dog🎂
Thanks and thanks!
Are the backup knots fail proof or would you recommend adding in another device as well?
Happy birthday Oreo!!
He says thanks!

Tom Loughran good question. It’s to keep the rope in line with the route - less swinging around.
What diameter static rope do you prefer for TR solo?

@@JBMountainSkills thanks man!
Any ideas on how to check out a route where you can't access the top?
Clip stick and GriGri...
Crikey is that the bot of Vivian that fell down not long after?
Would you use the static while working the route too?

Wtf I have never seen an Anchor with 3 bolts that is so shit than this one...
ok I got that wrong... 5 bolts!!!
It certainly looks a bit ratty but seems solid enough :)
