MAN the dynamic range on that thing is insane. Everything just looks so...pleasing, ESPECIALLY when you went into the house. Quality is just off the charts, even considering the heavy TH-cam compression. Perhaps the most shocking thing is actual decent audio quality from a built-in DSLR mic! :o Not amazing, of course, but way better than I would have thought.
David the quality of your new camera is much better quality than the camera you have previously been using. Please use this camera for your thanksgiving and Christmas videos.
Can't beat the DSLR Look I've been testing my Sony A7ii and 28-70 Lens and I was blown away with how vlogs look shot on a DSLR definitely what I will be using when I get my channel rebrand sorted hope you like the 80D David if you need some help photography wise message me 👍 couple years ago I got my royal photographic society accreditation so I might be useful to you have fun and keep shooting
Also, have you chosen which camera you are going to be using for thanks giving&christmas, I know it's still a few weeks away but interested in which weapon you will be using haha.
Just looking at your yard and thinking it's going to look awesome with the snow this winter. With that wide lens you'll be able to show it all. Great buy :)
Great Video!! Ive been vlogging with the 70d using a 18-135 lens, but after watching this video I think I will switch it up and get this lens! would you say that is a good option to do?
audio quality is actually really good, its deep doesnt sound tinny, i like the mic on this camcorder, in terms of video this looks beautiful. but stabilisation is a bit of a downside, its quite shaky when you walk, just pointing out a few things, great video btw as always👍🏻
Definitely a huge upgrade over the camcorder you were using. Of course, I have a 70D with the 10-18mm STM lens you have so I'm biased. Image stabilization isn't fantastic with that setup when walking or moving a lot but the Joby you got helps and FCP 10.3 does a decent job for scenes that really need help like moving quickly outdoors. Just make sure to trim the clip so you only stabilize areas that really need it or sometimes it gets a bit carried away. Canons also like to over expose by nature so sometimes you do have to keep an eye on it but, as you said, you can easily compensate for it most of the time in post and you will get quick as manually adjusting the ISO on the fly. Congrats on the new purchase and I look forward to seeing more video from you with the 80D. If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up since I've been using the 70D and 10-18 combo for a few months now.
Thanks for the test, I have been looking into the 80d with that lense, and from your video, I can see very little rounding on the edges of the video, I guess fisheye is what I am trying to say.
Are you planning to do anything cool with the camera relating to the channel? I would love to see some footage of your new home town, like timelapses would be reeaally cool.
I have the a6000, not sure how the a6500 compares, but the sensor overheats like crazy. That's really turned me away from the mirror-less cameras unfortunately.
David you should get a 50mm 1.8m stm it gets amazing field of depth. I have a 80D as well using the 50mm for video makes everything look so professional with the blured out background. A really good investment for $125 maybe something to put on this years Christmas Wishlist if you still do that video :D
The DOF looks really good! And the mic isn't to bad! It's definitely not as bad as my Canon T3I mic. Nice test vlog David!...That's what I'm calling it, A test vlog...👍🏼
"the mic isn't to bad"..... WHAT MIC?? He's not using a mic! He's using onboard audio from the camera. He said he has a Rode Video Mic Pro, but didn't even care to use it. You are hearing onboard audio recorded off the camera body and it's TERRIBLE.
Is it compatible with 80d? i was reading the description of this lens and it says that it is only compatible with 70d 60d, etc. 80d was not mentioned. thank u. i hope u respond
DUDE! You need to slow those whip pans. Take a little time moving the camera around. Learn how to walk while shooting. I had to stop the video before the motion sickness set in (and I am on mobile). This would be unwatchable on a big screen. I was hoping to see how well the IS on this lens works, but either it sucks or your technique is horrible. I guess we will see when mine arrives.
Hi I know I'm kind of a stranger to you but I've subscribed to your channel because I really like your videos specially your Christmas ones it amazes me how much gifts you guys get even I don't get that many gifts on Christmas and gift cards I think gift cards are the coolest gift to give I want to get to know you and your family seems like you have a very nice sister Christen anyways my name is Karishma Desai I live in Michigan I have a big family and I'm 24 years old who graduated from college last spring but I really like to get to know you and your family even though it sounds weird
That's because he's just throwing the camera around doing 180's non stop while holding the camera. All you have to do is put in a little effort with two hands and not intentionally make people sick. You can buy the most expensive equipment available, but if you aren't going to put any effort into filming, then it's a waste of money.
David, I'd warn you to not get the Rode VideoMic Go! It's more expensive, sounds worse, and larger than the VideoMicro. See my video if you want a side by side sound comparison!
Paul Bradford he doesn't like his videomic go so turns out you were right! I'm gonna check out the one you suggested since I'm just getting into video!
IS is only useful when shooting hand held and breaking the shutter speed to focal length rule or for handheld video. If you're shutter speed is higher than your focal length IS does nothing whatsoever.

Best choice of lens for sure. Superb at 14mm.
The quality is amazing David. Even the sound is decent.
Quality are much better than the Sony camcorder. Depth of field looks good.
Yes, definitely! DSLR quality has always been much better than what camcorders can produce. That's why I love having the choice between both.

Literally drove past your house on my way home from Gettysburg today :D
That's kinda creepy dude.
David the quality of your new camera is much better quality than the camera you have previously been using. Please use this camera for your thanksgiving and Christmas videos.
I need this lens - thank you for this!
That's a pretty good camera!!!!! Your videos will be so much better!! I can't wait for the vlogs.
I'm amazed by the quality. Its so sharp
You should call Canon. I am getting the 10-18 tomorrow.
I got the 80D a few days ago, LOVE IT! Been wanting it for a while, and finally got it! :D
Dude, wow! Definitely a quality boost! The colours and everything! I'm excited to see future videos with this!
Also, have you chosen which camera you are going to be using for thanks giving&christmas, I know it's still a few weeks away but interested in which weapon you will be using haha.
Very nice..Bright and Clear..Beautiful color.
Just looking at your yard and thinking it's going to look awesome with the snow this winter. With that wide lens you'll be able to show it all. Great buy :)

its a DSLR, not a camcorder. Hence the stabilisation being very shaky.
Awesome quality! Great video and love the new place
This camera is great ! Crystal clear !
Nicee! will you be using this for the christmas vlogs? the quality is perfect!
Definitely a huge upgrade over the camcorder you were using. Of course, I have a 70D with the 10-18mm STM lens you have so I'm biased. Great job on this video David!
Thanks for the test, I have been looking into the 80d with that lense, and from your video, I can see very little rounding on the edges of the video, I guess fisheye is what I am trying to say.
Quality looks incredible. Would enjoy that trademark "Daviddifranco" test montage with this new Canon 80D.
I have a 30 year old 180mm f/2.8 Nikon. As long as your shutter speed is up you don't need to worry about having image stabilization.
Please! do weekend vlogs with that, it just looks awesome!!
Looks pretty damn sweet David. A weekend vlog with this would be awesome to see.
hi David .. you've been using the 80D since November Last year I guess, what do you think about it ??
Thank you!
Hi David hope you like your new camera I just got the new I pad pro and I am loving it the picture and videos look so amazing have a great weekend 👍
David, that camera is sweet!
I've got this lens also, in combination with an 80D. It is an great combination!
Did u sell your Sony Camcorder?
"Your video has automatically stopped" SCREW CANNONS lololol
Are you planning to do anything cool with the camera relating to the channel? I would love to see some footage of your new home town, like timelapses would be reeaally cool.
Looking forward to the weekend vlogs now David.
HOLY SHIT THAT CAMERA LOOKS SOOO GOOD! Your face looks realistic and the background does to!!!!!!
Very nice, have the 5D, love Canon cameras, what is the Windows 10 USB device you have there?
Video quality is top notch compared to you r previous vids...for sure worth the $$
Did you say 56°😱 How are you bearing the heat? Bdw, Nice review.
just wondering why u went with 80d over sony cameras
Im bouncing between the 80D to the Sony A6500. My 60D just broke and tossing up between both. Thanks for the test
Heyyy Ritchieee ahaha! :P
I have the a6000, not sure how the a6500 compares, but the sensor overheats like crazy. That's really turned me away from the mirror-less cameras unfortunately.
Is this also good for photography, especially landscapes.
david please also get the 18-135 mm and also do 10-22 mm. do reviews on lenses!
David you should get a 50mm 1.8m stm it gets amazing field of depth. I have a 80D as well using the 50mm for video makes everything look so professional with the blured out background. A really good investment for $125 maybe something to put on this years Christmas Wishlist if you still do that video :D

I think it's good, but that's just my opinion
Lol! When you said "Alexa, stop the music", my Alexa answered you.
I love your new house!
I recommend thay you strictly go with the 80D for your Thanksgiving and Christmas videos :) The 80D looks amazing!!!! might pick one up soon.
At the begining of the video did you use a fish eye? or is the image just distorted because of lenses?
Whatnr u holding it.on
hey david you should put a firepit in your back yard. a backyard like that calls for it. very relaxing.
I'm from COATESVILLE, but I'm out here in SANTA BARBARA watching this, I just KNEW you were at "home", but then horse & buggy.....
LOL
How does this compare to the Sony 6300
Wow, video quality looks amazing. Audio doesn't sound that bad either.
Damn this quality is amazing
I don't wear glasses, but I imagine this is what it's like to de-fog your glasses. The quality is so much better! It's like a Claritin-D commercial.
Please do a two part house tour of your house and your parents house that will be awesome
Very nice!
Are there 4K shooting capabilities on the 80D?
No, it doesn't do 4K, best you can get on the 80D is 1080 50/60 FPS. Very good quality though.
Derek Fraser All the information i needed to know, thanks man!
Is it compatible with 80d? i was reading the description of this lens and it says that it is only compatible with 70d 60d, etc. 80d was not mentioned. thank u. i hope u respond
Damn that looks crispy!
Nice test. I have a 80D body and I'm looking for a wide angle lens for indoor. (im selling my house and need photo's)
The "IS" on this lens is pretty good.
Yo David watching this video was crazy. I have the 80d too I lived in West Chester Pa and my aunts cat is named Maui.
started the video wanted to buy the lens.... ends the video wanting to buy the house... my feels. sorry
I have the 70D, but I am going to upgrade to the 10-18 STM lens
I love my 10-18 STM but i am using it on a 70D
Nice camera
Wow! Definitely a HUGE upgrade from the Sony camcorder.

hey david
Audio sounds OK
So clear that I can see your pores 😂😂 Such a good camera !!
The mic really isn't too bad in my opinion?
Hi I know I'm kind of a stranger to you but I've subscribed to your channel because I really like your videos specially your Christmas ones it amazes me how much gifts you guys get even I don't get that many gifts on Christmas and gift cards I think gift cards are the coolest gift to give I want to get to know you and your family seems like you have a very nice sister Christen anyways my name is Karishma Desai I live in Michigan I have a big family and I'm 24 years old who graduated from college last spring but I really like to get to know you and your family even though it sounds weird
i got kind of woozy, queasy, yucky stomach feeling while you were walking around.
That's because he's just throwing the camera around doing 180's non stop while holding the camera. All you have to do is put in a little effort with two hands and not intentionally make people sick. You can buy the most expensive equipment available, but if you aren't going to put any effort into filming, then it's a waste of money.
The quality of this camera is really hard to beat. It's sooo good!
That must be heavy af to vlog with
wayyyy better
David, I'd warn you to not get the Rode VideoMic Go! It's more expensive, sounds worse, and larger than the VideoMicro. See my video if you want a side by side sound comparison!

WIILLLLLLLLLLLLSONNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!
I thank he showed that House in one of his old daily Vlogs and why didn't he bring that couch with him
IS is only useful when shooting hand held and breaking the shutter speed to focal length rule or for handheld video. If you're shutter speed is higher than your focal length IS does nothing whatsoever.
Bril quality :D
Sorry bro but you're wrong on IS. MANY great lenses don't have IS :)
Your community is very beautiful, where you live ?
I like your lifestyle
