    GUYS FROM EXPERIENCE! I had to pay $3k because of that second gear grind. It broke my synchorings and needed a whole new transmission. I was still under warranty but they were saying warranty only covers defects. It was a $6k bill for everything and after 4 months of talking to Honda they were able to cover half. So my fellow fk8 brothers, please do this to your cars❤️ I got a video of my fk8 on my channel if you want to check it out.

    I removed it when I still had a slave cylinder but honestly setting the clutch engagement point while removing the play in the master cylinder rod at the clutch pedal to fully disengage the clutch while shifting will stop the 1-2nd gear grind. As a tip removing the plastic delay valve use a pic to pierce it in order to get pull it out of the slave cylinder. You will destroy it when doing this but you’re not going to be using it anymore after.

    Delay valve is there to protect the transmission from shock, especially bell inexperienced drivers.

    Clutch pedal adjustment fixed me and my buddies fk8's. Both had the same issue.

    • @baranUtube
      @baranUtube ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats all that took? is the adjustment of the clutch pedal?

    • @isnowyazn
      @isnowyazn ปีที่แล้ว

      @@baranUtube To an extent, yes. But for ENGAGEMENT of the clutch, you should remove the clutch delay valve anyways. Properly bleeding the clutch is also very important. Some people don’t bleed their clutch slave cylinder from the factory for a long time, and I believe that causes issues too. As the spring inside of the clutch slave cylinder breaks in from brand new, it also needs to be re-bled, basically the pedal won’t sit exactly right anymore and has shifted.

    I’ve only had this to me once or twice in 1 year of owning my 21 BB TR. I don’t really push my car from a stop. Which was the only time it ever happened to me never while I’m driving. (13k miles only driven weekends)

      Short block is ready to be put together! Gonna head up this week to film it but still waiting on the cylinder head at the machine shop. So full engine build will probably be hopefully done middle next month is the goal.

    Delay valve only damps clutch engagement, not disengagement

    • @isnowyazn
      @isnowyazn ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s true, but something about the engagement to the clutch changes. Fluid pressure changes inside a bit I’m assuming, from the lack of the restricting delay valve. It will disengage (pedal down) quickly, but it doesn’t “rev match” quite the same without the delay valve. You can notice it when timing shifts differently, with and without the CDV in.
      What you’re saying isn’t wrong, but in my experience, after the CDV delete and not adjusting literally anything else, grinds, lockouts, etc. tended to be resolved a bit somehow. Perhaps it might just be in our minds, and the hydraulics might have just been needed to be properly bled? That’s my other assumption, besides obviously adjusting the clutch pedal/clutch master cylinder.

    2020 and newer doesn’t get the 2nd gear grind. They fixed the issue don’t waste your time or money if newer tha 2020. I’ve never had this happen to me same with all my other buddy’s

    • @ZoomR21
      @ZoomR21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      False. I own a 2021 and I've gotten the 1st to 2nd gear grinds. About 6 times in a year of ownership. You can't hard accelerate or it will happen 100% of the time. If you do 85% throttle max in first and delay your shift slightly then you can avoid it. I know of others that, own 2020+ and either did the clutch valve delay or clutch pedal adjustments to solve the issue. Some have also used Amsoil synchromesh in conjunction with doing the other methods.

      lol drive faster. 2021 2nd grind at 150 miles changed the whole system the first 7 days shifts fine now
