Its kind of sad that so many people think gintama is a comedy anime, yeah its true that gintama is funny but in my opinion gintama is one of anime that have a cool fight scenes and cool character development, its a little bit sad that this anime is so underrated
Ngl if you don't start new people off with it being a comedy, they end up dropping it because they expect the plot and action scenes to happen more often than they do
also people confuse lack of action with comedy. Even plenty of arcs that are considered "comedy arcs" bc they dont have much action, still have legitimately good stories and there are very rarely episodes which are only comedy with nothing else. Gintama is far less solely comedy than people make it out to be

Gintama is by no means underrated its among the most popular anime and manga
