    As a Canadian I like this but... That pronunciation of Wendigo makes me cringe
    Edit: Gosh so many people take this too much to heart. It's not a deal breaker for me and I honestly don't care that much, it was just silly and I wanted to point it out. Not hating. Chill people XD

    7:26 _“Oka-Naggin”_ lmao
    It’s pronounced Oka-nog-in, Okanogan. Though those are both “English” definitions of my heritage, it’s still funny when English speakers outside of our area butcher the pronunciation of Englishized native words. It’s ironic in a way, they made these definitions and still can’t pronounce them right. I’m not saying it’s dumb or anyone else is dumb, it’s just ironic that even fellow English speakers have trouble with some English words that fellow English speakers made up a long time ago.

    What’s really scary is most of the north western territories in Canada like the Nahanee valley aren’t really visited by people too much or explored really due to being so rugged I really wonder what’s deep inside those woods and cave systems in those lakes or mountain sides what really comes out deep where man hasn’t touched at night

    I grew up in Alberta hearing the story of the Wendigo at camps etc. and even repeated the story to my daughter as she grew up, since I am part Native. But mentioning the Wendigo to my girlfriend, who is full blood Cree from Manitoba is a serious no-no, I guess she and her band take the legend very seriously, and even bringing up the topic is taboo. I didn't know this, and made the mistake of mentioning the Wendigo one night when we first started dating, and it literally made her cringe and become quite upset. She nearly got up and went home. I did not realize how serious certain indigenous poeple take the legend, and i felt bad about mentioning it. Just a little add on I thought was interesting.

    Jack fiddler. One of the first leaders of my reserve. Though, his son Robert is always mentioned when most people here are asked about who the first chief was.
    The people jack fiddler lead are now the people of Sandy Lake, Ontario. You can look us up. The story of him being the last wendigo is real. In fact, there's a legend that there was once a village in the area now know as Ghost Point, in Sandy Lake, Ontario, that was attacked by a wendigo, and that the aftermath of the attack is still there today.

    The 1st one mentioned in this video I saw in a small small town near Algonquin park near my family's cottage in the winter about 14years ago I will never forget it. I wasn't scary other then the speed and the SIZE of this huge white as the snow wolf. It ran up behind my Mazda mpv I had at the time we could feel something vibrating the ground I was with 2 others at the time. I stopped in the middle of the road and looked into all my mirrors and saw something big coming at tremendous speed dead center toward us. My mouth dropped and I said holly shit you see that what is it. We very quickly found out. It ran up to my drivers door and slowed down and looked in at us. I locked the doors (cause that will save us 😉😖) it was beautiful white 3x the size of any wolf I've ever seen. And it's head was higher then my van. It bent down to pant while the 10second eye to eye contact happened and then vered to the left and through the tennis court owned by the locals and into the woods the snow was very deep and it stayed on top of it the whole time with its size I still have no idea how it did this. I haven't seen it again yet. But my family has owned property and been in this area weekly for over 200 years and we have seen a lot. I've talked a lot about this huge wolf that I had seen. Always saying it was the biggest animals I'd ever seen. This is the first time I've seen a video that could show something like what I saw. It was a 4hr drive back to where I'm from. And when we drove we talked about this majestic animal we had seen and we all had no doubt it could have easily taken out our vehicle without even trying if it so wished.

    The tv series Supernatural also had an episode with a Wendigo. Season One episode Two to be exact.

      @ashleighstratmann7783 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Back when the show was mostly of cryptids, monsters, and rituals involving ghost, and demons, instead of focusing on mostly one or two main types of antagonist per season with anything else the main characters deal with being just filler episodes

      They just seem more focus on a goal of each season since that season, making any other hunt more like a filler episode

    My uncle lives next to the okanogan lake and I’ve gone swimming in the middle of it before, can confirm. Not really a criptid, more of a legend but it’s still fun to think about. Also wendigos are one of my favourite mythical creatures along with Kelpies and a few others.
