I've heard rumors of the more tech savvy among us looking at limiter removal and a big bore kit, that would get the bike up close to the 30 HP range. My only concern would be that the whole bike is built around that 20 HP. Our RE dealer said a company rep told him that they are planning on releasing 8 - 10 new models over the next 3 - 4 years, including a 750 engine. Whether there's a larger single in the works is anyone's guess. Something in the 500 - 600 cc range with +/- 35 HP would be great. I'd never need another bike!
I wouldn't have thought a big bore kit would be strictly necessary, should be able to tweak a modern OHC 350cc engine towards 30 brake without that expense and work. I suspect the strangling 125cc performance levels are set mainly electronically at the factory 🙄
This is no surprise since others have reported that the 350 is governed at about 115 kph or just over 70 mph. Notice how the engine doesn’t sound like it’s working very hard.
@@MotoSnax I like riding back roads, so for me 70mph is enough, But at 6’ I’m not sure I would be comfortable on the bike. Guess I need to take a road trip to an RE dealership to try one out.
It's normal, the bike weights around 200kg plus the rider, and it has 20hp engine. It means you have around 13.5 -14 kg per hp. With that power/weight ratio you can not expect to run very fast. On the other hand, this bike engine has a lot of torque, which means it can face a strong headwind without faltering or loosing speed, and this is perfect for an open route ride. I bet this bike can pull a car without any problem😅
Royal Enfield builds their bikes diffently. Not for speed but to keep it running for a long time. Though your 150cc might be faster, this one is able to maintain 115-120 km/h easier. With a lot of head wind the Classic does not get bothered.
new enfield hunter 350 with the same engine has a top speed of 114km/h ,, a lighter more sporty bike and the speed is limited in the ECU to around 70-71 mph. Something to do with indian tax rules.. The lighter 153kg yamaha FZ25 in india with 20.5 bhp has a GPS top speed of around 133km/h.. so even with no limiter and the heavy weight and not being aerodynamic the classic 350 would never go above 80 mph (128 km/h).... I saw a video with the new RE hunter 350 and he could not get above 70 mph (GPS).. it reved out around 68 mph in 4. gear but in 5 gear is was reving fairly lax around 67 mph..
That looked better from what I imagined. Am looking at getting one or the Zontes GK 350 which for a similar price is 40bhp! Also poss the Meteor and Scram. Maybe the Interceptor/Goldstar. Usefull vid. You got her running well it seems👍👍👍
Zontes bikes are not known over here. I see there is an importer but I have never seen them. I'm sure the 350 will ride completely different compared to the RE Classic 350. Meteor 350 is nice too. Scram 411 I have to try but I did ride the Himalayan a couple years back. Hope you will find your bike!

Zontes GK 350 is yeah a more modern bike but is the same price range n considerably more bhp with bigger tank. (19 litre). I own a G1 and its been brill so far. For me being 6ft n then some a Tiger 900 rally is more like it but I do love the Enfields...test rides neede.
Are you sure the speedo was reading the correct speed Mine is playing up it was showing 80mph when I was sure I was only doing 50mph , I am getting the speedo changed , there has be a fault with them on many Bikes sold
If you disconnect power to the speedo, it may set itself to 20ish mph as 0 mph once it has power again. You can reset this by repeatedly turning on and off the key. After its reset, I never had an issue with it getting stuck.
i have a yamaha fazer 150 cc top speed 115 to 120 km/h very silent engine this motorcycle 350 cc top speed 100 to 115 km/h whats goin on with the 200 cc plus in the engine?
@@MotoSnax Did you try it with two people on it? Is she still running 120km/h then? I think it could be, because the speed is electronical limited and not because she hasn't enough power for more. If I buy one, I will fit a Stage 2 airfilter, but of course: Topspeed will not increase... ;-)

@@MotoSnax Thanks for replying to my question. I did get to ride a classic yesterday. the dealer around hear had demo rides. I did get to ride it on the hi way and it was good on the hills. If you had a really big hill I think you could down shift to 4th gear and it would good.
I love royal enfield motorcycles but c'mon, I got a Suzuki AX100 (100cc, 2 stroke, 10hp, weight less than 100kg) wich makes the same top speed of 115km/h. They really offer a nice driving experience but I would be very mad to pay that much for a bike that goes the same top speed than a cheap chinesse copycat of an '80s bike
Yes the engine should be capable of doing 140 km/h without any modification (besides removing the limiter). It might be limited because of (insurance?) rules in India.

This one does have more torque and at top speed it feels like you can't hurt the engine at all. Perhaps in the future the restriction can be removed as it should be able to go faster.
DAMN, my Yamaha XT 250 is faster than that. That being said it is not comfortable, it pretty much only has turn signals and lights to get to the trail legally.

Quite some experienced riders want something like this but those riders mostly don't exceed 100 km/h. Personally I would not buy it either. Too slow. But there is a fanbase out there.

Yep. Waiting for an unlock. It is not working hard at all at that 'top speed'. I'm guessing it would be able to do 140 km/h.

I'm 5'11 and have no issues. If you buy this you must understand that it is a slow bike and you cannot ride it fast. Even if you are in a hurry. :)

I would expect the Hunter 350 to also do 120 km/h on speedo.

The GPS next to it does not lie... and the Meteor 350 has the same top speed. This was 75 mph on the speedo and it felt like it.

People buy it for the looks. Those people don't care about speed. Still a nice bike for the money if you are into bikes like this.

I don't know. No hills over here. Flat as a pancake boring country. It is restricted to 120 km/h but I don't think that it is restricted on rpms.

It has more torque than a 100cc 2 stroke bike but yes, the 350cc engine of Royal Enfield is slow.

This bike is heavy and for slow riding, enjoying the scenery.
20.2 Hp.. this bike needs 5 more hp. My Vespa 300 has 23.8 Hp.

i have a meteor 350 and a vespa 300 .they are both very different but equally brilliant.

The bike have a speed limiter build in. It has to do with tax classes in India and they, sadly, export that version.
