Just had a single mid installed this morning paired with VRSF catless downpipes into a ZCP rear. I only had the catless downpipes installed originally for about 6 weeks, I had that 1.5-2k rasp and it was disgusting. But now I’m finally happy with the sound, driving experience is improved being able to enjoy how the car sounds now. Love it and would recommend it to everyone 👍🏼
I personally think the *best* exhaust setup is Valvetronics new V2 equal length full exhaust. However, I have catless downpipes, the AA equal length midpipe, and the stock comp muffler, and have very little rasp except for at the top end a smidge. Personally I like the equal length over the single length better.
I think the best set-up for the equal length that doesn't have bad or noticable 2k rasp is the stock or Evolution Racewerkes or AA high flow catted downpipes paired with the equal length midpipe, and stock comp exhaust (broken in). Other than that, single definetely sounds aggressive and doesn't have the 2k rasp. A resonator will help with the 2k rasp a lot.
Just fyi, the 2k rasp is there on stock dp as well. So if you’re okay with shifting manually and staying out of the throttle down low, then equal length is solid either dp or no dp. Someone needs to make a program for the exhaust valves to close a bit around that rpm only to fix it.

I also ran the AA equal length non resonated on my previous M4. I was never really in love with the tone but it did sound good. I am now running the single mid non resonated and I definitely like the deeper s55 tone rather than the high pitched tone that the equal length provided. Can't go wrong with either or at the end of the day.
@F80Ho DCT m2 competition here and I have the same buzz issue. Your videos are convincing me to go with a single mid + arm resonated downpipes. Same engines (but I think M2C pipes are a bit shorter) so they should sound about the same as yours, what do you think?
Currently on catless dps, and single mid from AA but I wanna make the switch to the valvetronic full exhaust. My current setup is nice and sound really good but just too deep of a sound personally.
Yeah the single is definitely deep & their setup is nice and smooth! Certain EQL setups on these cars like valvetronic even sounds like a mini Porsche with some clips I’ve seen lol 🔥

The sounds of these cars definitely are a drawback, but with an equal length or single mid pipe, it makes at least bearable 😂. If you go EQL, I would suggest staying stock dps or getting resonated dps and resonated mid pipe. I have the non res single and catless dps and love the sound - there’s a few other vids on here with the setup for you to hear
Btw, yeah that exhaust does sound pretty terrible around 2k rpm's. The first thing I thought of was my 370z with test pipes and a full Tomei. Just extreme amounts of rasp especially at lower end (around 2-4k) it's pretty bad. It's more acceptable on a Z, but on a BMW that is pretty crazy.

Resonators just help with sound deadening and also helps eliminate rasp when it comes to the midpipe setup. People add these sections to make the car more tame loudness wise and smooth out the sound

Exhaust tones are very subjective. Everyone has their own tastes and Flavours. I myself and my equal length mid pipe type of guy. But they all sound very good in their own different ways

Love the new seats! Also, Iv had single midpipe/resonated downpipes with stock muffler for almost 3 years. I love this set up for daily driving and no rasp but just wish it was a little louder im think of changing out the stock mufflers for something like yours did you feel changing to the madmax made a big difference in sound over your stock mufflers?

When I got my F82 M4 the previous owner had the M Performance exhaust installed already. Would you suggest either of the above options with the M Performance setup?
Catless downpipes, single mid non resonated and m performance rear version 2 is epic ! The first revision of the m performance rear is slightly quieter but still very good!

Either will sound good with the MPE, but depending on your downpipe choice would make me sway one way or the other. I’ve heard single and MPE before and it sounds great 👌🏽

Without downpipes eql sounds way way better but with downpipes I think single is the move. Currently suffering with my fully non res catless dps and eql midpipe😭rasp is insane at 2.5
@@enntlo it’s actually just about liveable with the resonated. I’ve learned to be gentle on the pedal when in auto so it shifts at 1.5/2k revs + have it in least aggressive shifts . You can have the valves open then also.. if you keep foot consisted through the rev it won’t Happen almost at all. I don’t think I’d trade for single mid as this sounds better 95% of the time
Bro!! You literally expressed my whole mood right now! I'm in a 6mt '18 Comp f82. The AA EL was MONEY on the stock platform. I just went stage 2 with ARM resonated dp's and I HATE having to drive my car. I thought I was the only one with this feeling. Also, I experience that buzz at the 2k rpm range as well. So not sure it's only with dct. With my ARM resonated dp's, You'd recommend me going non-resonated single mid?? Help me end this misery. Haha

But I am planning to decat my F82, so here comes the question : I saw your video about the problem of the catless downpipe with the EQL, so what if I add back the resonator to the EQL to avoid the problem of the catless downpipe, does it work? And does it sound like the single mid? Or, if I am really going to decat my car I must change to the single mid to get the best deeper tone? Thanks!
So your current setup will be hard to beat sound wise. When you decat your car and add resonators, that will be the best setup that you can get sound wise. You can also go catted downpipes and resonated midpipe to make sure you don’t have any resonance issues 🙏🏽

I was thinking about CTS Turbo catless downpipes and the valvetronic active exhaust, it is a equal length midpipe but from videos I have watched I haven't heard the 2k buzz. Is that something you can only hear in person and would you recommend that set up?
If you go valvetronic and catless, I think you’ll be better off than the active EQL setup. I’ve heard the 2k buzz slightly in FindingNicks videos since he has a catless setup with valvetronic EQL system. Since he’s manual though, you don’t hear it as much as a dct car. You should hit up Marc Gilhuys on IG and ask, I think he has a similar setup you’re going after

@@Redrum_live there’s an oem setting in bm3 which should leave it as comp burbles. If it doesn’t just go custom and do like .7 duration and whatever aggression - it’s pretty close

Both non res versions are loud in their own way - tone is just different. I would say loudness is the same ones more deep and raspy vs. ones more high pitched

As he mentioned in the video the ARM res downpipes and non-res single midpipe was a really good combo. I believe ThicWhips mentions this in his video too. Some people do get the resonated single mid as well with arm res downpipes. But it’s isn’t necessary because there isn’t drone, its just to deafen the sound a little,smooth out the rasp, and provides a slightly deeper tone. Personally I run ARM Res DownPipes as well, and I have ordered the non-res single mid-pipe. Based on all my video & forum research.

Cool video but EL sounds like dog shit if you have a MPE. it’s due to the titanium in the MPE muffler. Would not suggest it… sounds very raspy and high pitched.

I would do exactly that man! if you’re encountering the 2k rasp issue, then single is the move. Remus is too good of an axleback to be ruined by the 2k rasp issue imo 🔥

Currently have stock DP’s and running the gen 2 AWE Switchpath. Pretty tame to be honest but makes the car sound mighty healthy🤙🏾

Ive got a 08 - 135i MT with an ac schitzer set up and catless dp. 2k is raspy as hell and I hate it.

Love the new seats! Also, Iv had single midpipe/resonated downpipes with stock muffler for almost 3 years. I love this set up for daily driving and no rasp but just wish it was a little louder im think of changing out the stock mufflers for something like yours did you feel changing to the madmax made a big difference in sound over your stock mufflers?

When I got my F82 M4 the previous owner had the M Performance exhaust installed already. Would you suggest either of the above options with the M Performance setup?
Catless downpipes, single mid non resonated and m performance rear version 2 is epic ! The first revision of the m performance rear is slightly quieter but still very good!

@@vk45dett we thought the same and refused to do one. Had one installed on a customers car yesterday and there is zero rasp but obnoxiously loud (we prefer loud). Version 1 has rasp but very slight

Either will sound good with the MPE, but depending on your downpipe choice would make me sway one way or the other. I’ve heard single and MPE before and it sounds great 👌🏽

Without downpipes eql sounds way way better but with downpipes I think single is the move. Currently suffering with my fully non res catless dps and eql midpipe😭rasp is insane at 2.5

@@enntlo it’s actually just about liveable with the resonated. I’ve learned to be gentle on the pedal when in auto so it shifts at 1.5/2k revs + have it in least aggressive shifts . You can have the valves open then also.. if you keep foot consisted through the rev it won’t Happen almost at all. I don’t think I’d trade for single mid as this sounds better 95% of the time

I'm in a 6mt '18 Comp f82.
The AA EL was MONEY on the stock platform. I just went stage 2 with ARM resonated dp's and I HATE having to drive my car. I thought I was the only one with this feeling.
Also, I experience that buzz at the 2k rpm range as well. So not sure it's only with dct.
With my ARM resonated dp's, You'd recommend me going non-resonated single mid?? Help me end this misery. Haha

But I am planning to decat my F82, so here comes the question : I saw your video about the problem of the catless downpipe with the EQL, so what if I add back the resonator to the EQL to avoid the problem of the catless downpipe, does it work? And does it sound like the single mid? Or, if I am really going to decat my car I must change to the single mid to get the best deeper tone? Thanks!
So your current setup will be hard to beat sound wise. When you decat your car and add resonators, that will be the best setup that you can get sound wise. You can also go catted downpipes and resonated midpipe to make sure you don’t have any resonance issues 🙏🏽

I was thinking about CTS Turbo catless downpipes and the valvetronic active exhaust, it is a equal length midpipe but from videos I have watched I haven't heard the 2k buzz. Is that something you can only hear in person and would you recommend that set up?
If you go valvetronic and catless, I think you’ll be better off than the active EQL setup. I’ve heard the 2k buzz slightly in FindingNicks videos since he has a catless setup with valvetronic EQL system. Since he’s manual though, you don’t hear it as much as a dct car. You should hit up Marc Gilhuys on IG and ask, I think he has a similar setup you’re going after

If you plan on keeping stock dps go eql if you plan to change them one day I’d say go single

Hey bro love the TH-cam content, had a quick question. I have a F80 comp and I want to go stage 2 91 on bootmod3 but I want to keep the stock competition exhaust burble. Is that possible or does the comp burble go away once you go stage 2 forcing you to customize the burble?

You can also leave burbles to oem on bm3 so that’s what I would try first 💪🏽
@@F80Ho so if I leave it to OEM for the burbles it will be the comp burbles since my car is a comp or will it go to normal f80 with no burbles? Lol just want to be sure

@@Redrum_live there’s an oem setting in bm3 which should leave it as comp burbles. If it doesn’t just go custom and do like .7 duration and whatever aggression - it’s pretty close
Tbh I didn’t notice any wierd sounds with my setup so fat ( VRSF catless downpipes and equal lenght midpipes) tho still looking for replacements bc a little bit quiet IMO

Both non res versions are loud in their own way - tone is just different. I would say loudness is the same ones more deep and raspy vs. ones more high pitched
Anyone have experience with Arm Resonated downpipes and Resonated/Non-Resonated Midpipe? Currently have EQL paired with resonated downpipes and I absolutely hate it. Deciding between getting resonated/non-resonated Midpipe and have no clue which to go with
As he mentioned in the video the ARM res downpipes and non-res single midpipe was a really good combo. I believe ThicWhips mentions this in his video too.
Some people do get the resonated single mid as well with arm res downpipes. But it’s isn’t necessary because there isn’t drone, its just to deafen the sound a little,smooth out the rasp, and provides a slightly deeper tone.
Personally I run ARM Res DownPipes as well, and I have ordered the non-res single mid-pipe. Based on all my video & forum research.

I would do exactly that man! if you’re encountering the 2k rasp issue, then single is the move. Remus is too good of an axleback to be ruined by the 2k rasp issue imo 🔥
