      ​@@rhmdixie4991What does that have to do with MacArthur, he returned to the Philippines later on and retook it,and he liberated the pow's, in the meantime the things that happened to the pow's were the fault of the Japanese as they did not treat them in accordance with the Geneva Convention which I believe Hapan was a signatory to.

    He held two 5 star ranks in the army: General of the Army (5 star general in the US), Field Marshal (5 star rank in the Philippines).

    Mac Arthur was and will always be a great general. My father in law use to serve under him. MacArthur will always be remembered as a great leader.

    Dugout Doug !!! I think he was bitter because he was second fiddle to Nimitz and the European theater was the primary objective and Eisenhower just totally overshadowed MacArthur and his political ambitions went out the door when Ike became president and Truman hating him didn't help

    In my opinion MacArthur is the biggest loser in the history of the US Army. He hardly ever won a battle( it was always the commanders under Arthur) and then (who saw that coming) he escaped with a yellow submarine thogether with the Beatles from the Philippines. The Beatles escaped, because they want to earn more money. MacArthur escaped, because he "shall".
