To all Filipinos who do not love or like McArthur, ang masasabi ko kayo mga ignorante ,tanga, at walang utang na loob kayo. Basahin ninyo ang explanation ko sa ibaba. Magbasa muna kayo ng history bago kayo magdakdak. I read his book, watch history channei on TV, watch his movie, watch his documentaries, etc. Lahat na tungkol kay McArthur binasa ko at pinanuod ko. You are looking at one of the greatest American hero. Bilib na bilib ang mag kano sa kanya because they knew who he was. Wala naman kayong alam, dakdak lang kayo ng dakdak. He was a military genuis. Sa USA ako nakatira at alam ko, Americans respected him. He was forced to leave the Philippines. He did not want to leave. If he will be captured, it will be a big blow to the US military. He was the highest commander in the Pacific War. He has to follow the the order. Imagine, the highest commander of the Pacific war, was a POW. It means prisoner of war. He was too valuable to be captured. USA was not ready for war. Japan was negotiatiating peace with USA and Japan double cross USA. Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. McArthur had to be sneak out to Australia for safety because he has to plot and plan how to defeat Japan. Also USA has to build war machines, airplanes, battleships, etc. His plan was to go island hopping. Island by island he defeated Japan. Also USA did not want him to go back and liberate the Philippines, but he insisted. It will cost USA too much money and American soldiers, war machines. etc. USA can win the the Pacific war by bypassing the Philippines, and they were right. Because McArthur love the Philippines he has to keep his promise. It cost USA too much money, American lives to liberate the Philippines. Kaya yung ibang Pilipino na tanga, ignorante, dapat magpasalamat kayu kay McArthur.

He is still up to this day highly regarded here in the Philippines. He loved the Filipino people and they loved him back. On our history books, he is regarded as a hero, bridges, streets, and Plaza's are named after him, statues specially in Leyte Gulf were erected in his honor.

MacArthur clearly loved the Phillpino people. His general father presided over the Philippines. Hence, as a youth, he literally grew up in the Philippines. His memoir entitled "Reminiscences" eloquently describes his life, actions, motivations. Truly, an impressive and inspirational figure.

Roosevelt ordered MacArthur out of the Philippines after receiving a call from Winston Churchill. Churchill reminded Roosevelt of the debacle in our military force's morale should MacArthur become a POW of the Japanese. Also MacArthur, Roosevelt and Churchill were, in fact, distant cousins (Sarah Belcher was their Great Grandmother).

Believe me, there‘s but very few you’ll find a good and gleamering accounts of General McArthur. Perhaps, most of these gleamering accounts would come from the Filipino people, the Japanese people, and of course his wife, none from Americans. His famous -but not equal- contemporaries like Admiral Chester Nimitz was named after an American Aircraft Carrier. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard any US Administration- not even his former clerk who became US President- giving McArthur a respect he deserve by rewarding the famed hero of World War II a rightful representation in the Army.

Americans are peaceful but they don't hesitate to risk their lives if anyone or any country is threatened or deliberately harmed. Gen. Douglas Mc Arthur is not a traitor nor their government is doing something like the word racket because it values the lives of their soldiers too! The greatest gift more valuable than the tons of gold or other precious stones in this Earth is not only by liberating us Filipinos, but by spreading the word of GOD ALMIGHTY! If you saying something you must think in deep thinking. A political gimmick what a stupid word. The japanese forces invaded pearl harbor first and second in a matter of hours the Phillipines . That time after the japanese invasion in Phillipines Dec 1941 Filipino guerilias are not yet formed and General MacArthur was unprepared and unexpected about the invasion. His I shall return words is come from his hearth and a words of a genius man not a political gimmick take note after guerilla formed and exist in beyond 1940s of war MacArthur supported all guerilias activities and supplies by submarine do you think if MacArthur don't care abandoned the Philippines the entire war the guerilias fighting effort and entilligence will be useless who will help listen to them.

Gen Douglas MacArthur was employed to defend the Philippines and yet when war broke out He left Manila undefended by withdrawing his troops to Bataan and declaring Manila an Open City..Why surrender to the enemy when there were plenty of manpower available ? Why did he not mobilized the troops to build defensive barriers? Why he give up Manila even before the enemy arrived. He was in Phil 3 or 4 years before the war broke out..giving him more than enough time for its defence.
Also after the attack on Pearl Habour he was notified by phone or telegram with 8 hours time difference why did he keep the airplanes in on the ground in one location .He was really caught flatfooted..😅😅😅😅😅😅

I find it telling that the first things he did while rebuilding Japan was to break up the monopolies and assure that each vote counted. Maybe we need someone like him for President? Today, we have many state where votes have been gerrymandered beyond belief in order for one party to have control and mere handfuls of corporations with power they should not have over the direction our Government goes on too many issues. I think it's time to apply a little MacArthur strategy here at home!

Operation Ichi-Go is an operation conducted by the Japanese Army on the Chinese mainland from April 17th to December 10th, 1944 during the Sino-Japanese War.
It was the last major offensive of the Japanese Army, which caused the National Revolutionary Army to be hit hard and affected during the Chinese Civil War.
However, on the other hand, the United States is also mediating the conclusion of the Double Tenth Agreement with Chiang Kai-shek in order to avoid a civil war.
According to a study by Barbara W. Tuchman, the results of this operation had a more significant impact on the subsequent war situation than the Japanese had imagined, and had a decisive impact on Japan's fate. According to it, Franklin Roosevelt has consistently strongly trusted and supported Chiang Kai-shek since the beginning of the war, and encouraged him in the war against Japan so that he would not drop out of the Allies in a single peace with Japan during the Cairo Conference. However, he said that he changed his mind because the front of Chiang Kai-shek collapsed due to this operation. In fact, Chiang Kai-shek has not been invited to important Allied conferences ("Yalta Conference" and "Potsdam Conference") since then.
According to the Stilwell document, Roosevelt said, "Can China win?" Stilwell said, "There is no choice but to eliminate Chiang Kai-shek." During the 1944 Hengyang battle, he could not sleep at night and twice. He says he thought about suicide. The American side also planned to assassinate Chiang Kai-shek, and three methods of "poisoning", "aircraft incident", and "pretending to be suicide" were considered, but it was canceled in 1944 due to changes in the international situation such as Burma. The successor that the United States envisioned is Sun Fountain.
As Roosevelt's Chief of Staff George Marshall and General Joseph Stilwell have long insisted, Chiang Kai-shek's army is actually a demoralized and corrupt organization that does not form an army. It became clear that he had no desire or ability to fight with the United States and other Allied forces.
As a result, President Roosevelt changed the scenario of the operation against Japan from the conventional bombing of Japan and other countries from the air bases of mainland China to the one that MacArthur and others claimed to occupy the islands of the Pacific Ocean one after another.
China was dismissed at the Yalta Conference, and the Allied nation's footsteps were disturbed, with angry Chiang Kai-shek presenting a peace plan to Japan against the will of the United States.
In the Japan-US negotiations, Japan's allegations were peace by the confluence of Wang Jingwei of the Nanjing government and Chiang Kai-shek of the Chongqing government, and a proposal for defense from communism jointly by Japan and China. The US allegation was the withdrawal of Japanese troops from China, admitting only the Chongqing government. The negotiations broke down and the United States stopped oil, resulting in a war between Japan and the United States.
The Japanese Operation Ichi-Go attack left the National Revolutionary Army with 750,000 casualties. This caused the Kuomintang to lose to the Communist Party in the civil war. China would not have been dominated by the dictatorship Communist Party if it had made peace with Japan and cooperated in protecting it from communism.

Although Truman's reasoning were sound, he lacked courage to face Communists
head on like Kennedy did. MacArthur was a Great General, and a human being too.
His overconfidence was normal giving the circumstances. After realizing his
mistake, he had was guts to fight back and to confront the PRC with nukes.
History tell us that MacArthur was right, and Truman was wrong. Had MacArthur
nuked the PRC, Korea would have been free. We would also be free from cheap
products that come undone right after purchase, and free from threats to our
global leadership by the crooked PRC.

At 4 years old, believe it or not I was"unaware" we children ranging from 4 to 10 were spying for the U.S. and the Filipino guerillas in the Philippines. The Japanese camp was only about 2 kilometers (1.5 miles) away, and we were obsessed by low flying Japanese planes over our Village. So we went there often and watch the activities in the camp. When we returned to the Village some of the elders would asked us how many "people" we saw; how many airplanes and trucks. The older kids were able to gave precisely the numbers. In my case since I was the smallest and "cute" would asked me "how about you "bulilit' (kiddo) what did you see?" All I can say was "daghan edro" (plenty of airplanes) and "daghan tawo" (so many people). The Japanese soldiers could have killed us right there or our parents if they only realized what damaged we have done. What we gave the guerillas may have help the Americans pulverized the camp as we watched it ringside from our farm.

I hope historians could visit Corregidor, and take a close look at the American soldiers and a General who underwent great suffering and starvation during WWII, and go to Manila Hotel (a five star hotel) where a high ranking general stayed during those times. When one says, "I shall return" , it is an admission that one one leave his fellow Americans. I could never understand that, especially when I saw how Lt. Gen. Jonathan M. Wainwright was reduced to skin and bones, together with his American comrades.
I hope American soldiers visit Corregidor where Lt. Gen. Wainwright is remembered. So that they may know and remember that once upon a time there was an American soldier who knew how to live, survive, and endure suffering and pain. The pictures of him and his soldiers and WWII bombed structures were preserved in said area. And one will have an idea what happened there.
So between a general who suffered starvation and maltreatment, and a general who stayed at Manila Hotel (perhaps Americans should visit it too), I will honor the former more.
    (No offense meant.)

His exemplary conduct during the "Great Depression" : President Herbert Hoover then ordered the army to clear the veterans' campsite. The Bonus Army marchers with their wives and children were driven out, and their shelters and belongings burned.

very Arrogant man, a good combat leader, but a "PRIMA DONNA" he thought very very very highly of hisself. yes he did a good job for America, but he was very prideful when dealing with U.S. Presidents. he also didn't think very well of Black soldiers and was very very willing to court marshall black soldiers. so for all of his good qualities he also has bad ones as well he's a man. so no man is perfect.
i am glad that he helped America and i am glad that he did a good job. i just don't like all of his qualities.

God bless the Philippines and people of the USA . Very soon after Pearl Harbour . The Philippines already had a formidable army , navy and air force . If MacArthur had immediately put them on war footing and alert . The strong force of navy ships , fighters and bombers based in the Philippines were not put in a state of readiness . The fighters were left lined up next to the runways . All fighting vehicles were not mobilised and armed . Thus when the Japanese attacked in late December . They swept through and caused devastation hundreds of times greater than Pearl Harbour .
Many good historians have recorded this neglect of the Pacific' s greatest air force and navy swept aside in the Philippines . Sorry to bust a myth . But one General presided over this arguably greatest blundering disaster of the war .
      That was MacArthur .
Also at the end of the war the greatest mass murderer in history HIROHITO was spared by MacArthur because of M's delusional belief that it would start another war .
      MacArthur was imcompetent .
Please read the reality folks . He was Japan's best General.
Sabra s has much correct information .

He was ordered by President Roosevelt to leave Corregidor and lead the defense of Australia. He left reluctantly and believed he would be given immediate command of a counter invasion.
