excellent review, what about android support? now amazon kindle app require android 9 os. if kindle app requires android 10, can this poke 2 still run kindle in it or will it become useless? kindly advise in 2023 this poke 2 or poke 3 still suitable?
can it be used as an e-organizer/calendar/journal/notes, too? are there any e-Ink display optimized apps for such usage, pls? thank you for your content! :)
Is the next page bubble halfway up the right side of the device while in a book removable in configurations? Seeing that on every page would drive me crazy.
Very nice quick review! 1 question: Does it have built-in dictionary -anytime we choose particular word, the translation appears? (like Kobo Clara HD has)
Yes it does but you have to download them from a list available on the reader or sideload any dictionary following a certain format. If you Google it you'll find how to articles for it.
You mentioned note taking app does not come with the Poke 3. Does that mean note taking app can not be installed? Some other Boox devices also allow typing via a bluetooth keyboard. Can the Poke 3 do that too? Thank you!
Your review is well presented and informative. You give high praise to this device and I based my purchase partly on this review. And I agree, the hardware is amazing and very pleasing. What you do not mention at all, is that the UI - user interface on this device is actually pretty bad. The reader app itself is not terrible, but the menus, settings and overall management of the tablet clearly has a lot of room for improvement. There is poor wording and bad UX decisions all over the place. It's obviously made by someone with nothing more than a mediocre affinity to the English language. This is especially true for the hardware manual. If it wasn't for the novelty of an e-reader running Android this software feels more like a device from 2012. The saving grace of the software is that it has a lot features and options for configuration and I do love the customizable touch areas in the reader app. Overall I'm mostly happy with it, but it's not at all perfect.
I failed to understand how “poor wording” could affect UI? And on what circumstances would someone would read a hardware manual of a e-reader ? Could you provide some examples to elaborate? I have a boox air and now thinking of getting a poke. As far as my boox air experience goes, it is the best e reader I v used so far . Miles better than kindle or pocketbook. And if boox poke is much like boox air just in smaller sizes, I am afraid I would not agree with the statement that it looks like a device from 2012. Also it’s an e-reader, it would be unfair to compare it with a tablet, as it is not what you should use it for. Just a random thought.
I know this comment is a year old, but it's because it's a limit with the e-ink technology. It's not the same as normal LED or LCD screens. The advantage is that it acts more like an actual page with ink and doesn't shine light into your eyes.
Get ONYX BOOX Poke 3 from Amazon: amzn.to/3umYETj
Coming up next is the ONYX BOOX Nova3 :)
They do not have Poke3 :-( I got mine from e-reader.ca here in Canada 🇨🇦
@@wildtravel1440 how has it been for you?
Hi, I have a question: poke 3 can write with a pen? It’s the same function with poke 2, right?✍️

My E-vrit eReader circa 2010 just died. There was only one country in the world that sold it and they don't make it anymore 😭

You might wanna check out the mm boox note air or the nova 3
Can I use Chrome Browser and Facebook on this tablet ?
Is the next page bubble halfway up the right side of the device while in a book removable in configurations? Seeing that on every page would drive me crazy.
yes it's removable. it has its own setting-Navigation Ball
if i want to zoom in or out, can I use my fingers or not?
I saw you have installed IVRIT app, so the question: does the POKE 3 read books in RTL (right to left) format? Thank you!!
Does עברית app work as it should work?
היי, אחלה review! האם יש מכשיר שניתן גם להשמיע בו גם ספרי אודיו בעברית?

So it is the only Onyx device without the WACOM layer, so it has no stylus functionality. That's why there's no note-taking app.
Can you rotate the screen in order to read pdf files with bigger letters?
Yes you can rotate to any side
Very nice reviews! Can I type texts / notes on it? Thanks
There's not much information in this video other than that you think it's great and lightweight.

hi i know i’m two months late but yes it is possible because it can access google play

I recommend installing AIReader from the Google Play STore. It is the best reader app. It has an EReader mode and is far customizable.
@@gkoogz9877 cheers, will check 👍
Thank your for this

It doesn't look like running faster than the old Boox Poke.
It looks nice, but that lag time when dragging the header down and moving lighting/volume sliders is too long for me.
Very good! Thank you!!
wating for ur top books video
עליתי עליך בגלל המבטא. תודה רבה על הסרטון, עזר לי להחליט.
יש לו גם תכנה בשפה העברית ב-2:40 ;)
?
Why are all these e-ink tablets designed with such low frame rates? I heard the Boox tablets have 2hz screens??? That's terrible.

It is USB-C.
