    Angela Brown, The House Cleaning Guru, agrees business is hard. "But it's not because cleaning systems don't work. You have to apply what you learn. You need commitment and follow-through. Cleaning systems don't work when you don't work."

    I STRONGLY disagree with something I heard you say on one of your previous videos. I can't remember which one now but you basically said "I'm a house keeper not a psychologist."
    I've watched a few of your videos now. Not because I want to be a house cleaner but because I need one. I have been needing to travel a lot to another state and I cant just keep up with my house due to this.
    I am a nurse and I work with a lot of different psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and counselors. I promise you beat them ALL.
    You are absolutely positively the smartest person when it comes to "shrink" stuff. People would live much happier lives if they just watched your videos. It's all common sense fabulous stuff. Besides you don't pull any punches. You just call it as it is. I love it. 2 thumbs up!
    And thank you for all your videos. I really do appreciate it.

    "They don't work if you don't work!"
    Hearing you say that, reminds me of a course with a dog trainer we took, together with our dogs.
    Afterwards some compained that" the dogs didn't learn a thing from that course", and the trainer said "That's right, the dogs don't learn from the course. YOU'RE supposed to learn from it, and pass it on to the dogs." 😉 Lol!

      LOL. Great points. It's true, our house cleaners take their cues from their leads. And dogs take their cues from their owners. :-)

    Angela, Your videos are awesome and I'm very thankful for them. I am learning gobs! [A side note that verse says "... the LOVE of money is the root of all evil..." It's the LOVE of it. Having money in and of itself is not evil. There are many many pro-prosperity verses.]

    In this video, I especially liked what you mentioned about different people, possibly in the same household, having different "filters" and therefore sometimes needing different "systems." I know you were specifically talking about systems for starting a housecleaning business, but of course it's also true for housekeeping and organization systems in an individual home with more than one resident. This year, my sister came to live with me, and we have different, virtually incompatible perspectives. I am convinced we both have the same undiagnosed mental condition, perhaps OCD, that manifests in opposite ways for each of us: I am a recovering hoarder, and I find that I can function best at keeping things neat and maintaining a reasonable amount of possessions instead of having useless clutter that grows and grows if I have everything organized in an "in sight" system. For me "putting away" something so it cannot be seen is too much like "throwing away" the item, as if I were saying it has no value in my life and I'm never going to get it back. Intellectually, I know that's not the case, but just "knowing" that doesn't reduce my anxiety about putting things away. It's how my brain is wired. Closets used to end up as disorganized places where I frantically stuffed armloads of stuff to prepare for someone to come into the house, until they were so full nothing more could be stuffed there, and nothing in them ever came out again to be used. The things I really used never got put away, because they had no place to go. I have learned that I do much better if I think of it not as putting things "away," but as "putting things where they belong," and define a place for each thing to belong that is in sight, so it does not feel as if I am denigrating its value. If an object's home is on an open shelf, I am far more likely to put it back after I finish using it than if I try to tell myself that it belongs in a closed drawer. I actually was seriously considering taking the doors off my kitchen cupboards, before I found out my sister needed to come live with me. Well, her anxiety goes through the roof if she sees things out in view. She wants everything "put away" in drawers and cupboard and closets so they cannot be seen. She admits that even if an open shelf is perfectly organized, to her, it always looks terribly messy. More than that, I think to her, she conflates her stringent idea of "messy" with "dirty." These two systems, in sight and out of sight, cannot coexist. We are fortunate to have a big enough place that we can each have our own space organized to our liking, but in our common space, I have basically had to give up completely on having things set up in the way I will function best. People like me with hoarding tendencies that we need to manage REALIZE not everyone is like us. We have been told all our lives that when we are not managing our condition well, we are disgusting, and there are even reality TV shows so other people can entertain themselves by pointing and laughing at people like us. Neat freaks, on the other hand, may intellectually realize not everyone is like them and even that they have something that counts as a neurological disorder, but in their heart of hearts, they believe with all their being that everyone SHOULD be like them, and that they are absolutely ENTITLED to have everyone be like them.

      @@AskAngelaBrown You're welcome! It may help you or other cleaners who watch your channel with some of your clients. When you understand what it takes for a client to feel comfortable (and that it will not be the same for every client as it might be for yourself), then you may be that much better at doing things in a way that will get you repeat business, referrals, and tips!

      There is a channel called clutterbug on TH-cam.. she describes the different organizing types etc..i am like your sister..I can't stand when things are in the open..it looks, I wouldn't say messy..but less organized and clean...and it's more work ( for example dusting etc)...but check clutterbug..i realised through her channel what kind of organising type I am and what kind my husband is..and we found a solution that works for us..like in every relationship compromising is key..

    You're visual states the saying correctly. But you left out the key word.."Love". Love is where your heart lyes. Money is not evil. Nor the root there of. But if one thinks this is what this statement says ans means then ya i can see one fearing money.

    Making things work is not easy but we have to take responsibility for why they don’t work, sometimes it’s our fault and sometimes things just simply don’t work !
    As a nurse I would often get patients admitted to the hospital who were addicts, when talking to them and questioning about treatment I often heard, “ yeah I’ve been three times, it didn’t work”…..my response was, “it doesn’t do it for you, it doesn’t work if YOU don’t make it work” !
    I would further explain that treatment is a tool for you to use just like having a lawn mower in my garage, it has not one time cut my grass without me using it !!!
    So your words “poverty mindset” hit home 😏 Although others have made comments to me about not doing or having for myself and giving and doing for others, I don’t know why ? I know I’m an empath which is not helpful but maybe it’s my poverty mindset and feeling I’m not worthy ……I need to do some work on me !!!!
    Thank you and Blessings

    CORRECTION: money is Not the root of all evil...THE LOVE of money is...as in avarice, greed, money has control over me.
    Money is not good nor bad in itself. How we use it is what makes the difference

    I completely agree. I had a client who said to me how do I clean what are things your looking for. They never did that themself. As I do encourage education if they ask. My question to you is they going want to dry to do cleaning like us. What would be good booking time?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Steven, I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you mean if you explain how you do the cleaning the clients will cut you out of the job and do it themselves?

    I feel like giving up sometimes but I'm going to hang in there that's why I watch a video so I can get educated on things now I decide to have my own solo cleaning business I clean one of my coworkers house and they recommend me to someone else their son-in-law's he said I did a good job but he never called me back so I'm like wondering if I did something wrong he wanted clean once a week🙄

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sheila, don't give up. Just because someone recommends their friend who needs cleaning - doesn't mean the person has the financial resources to hire you. You didn't do anything wrong. Keep doing your best and trust that the right clients will find their way to you. Tell everybody that you work by referral only and you will get more referrals. Let your clients know it's okay to give out your phone and email to their friends who need house cleaning. Of the many referrals you will receive, some WILL have the resources to hire you and will be in the market for your services when the referral is given. Keep up the good work. I'm here rooting for you. 😍
