You had the likes of biela , aiello, menu , Tarquinius. And loads of other ex f1 drivers. Also they had a sprint race and a feature race with pit stops which was the nuts . I think it's a bit unfair to say that James Thompson switching to inters on the front of the Honda was an error of judgement, he was faster than anything else on the track at that part of the race. What was an error of judgement was trying to pass Kox's Honda on the inside, the much wetter part of the track, coming out of the hairpin. If he'd stayed on the drier line Kox would have almost certainly let him past into the first corner even if he couldn't make the move along the straight. Lesson learnt...

Anthony Reid and Kelvin Burt (once Rydell's teammate at Volvo) were my tutors at racing school. Anthony was always very quick, fair and the perfect gentleman. Small nudges at Druids are to be expected - Rydell was well out of order in his post-race behaviour there, and Mansell should have expected it 🙃

So, Mansell puts himself into the tires not once but twice, and yet he claimed that both incidents were the fault of other drivers.
Some things never change. If anything ever goes wrong for Mansell, it is never ever Nigel's fault. Ever. His attitude is why he is one of the most personally disliked drivers in F1 history. When Mario Andretti states publicly that you're an idiot, believe him.

Mike Spearwood Its a well known psychological fact that if someone touches his nose while answering a question or describing what had happened to him there is a fairly high chance that he’s not telling the truth. When we lie on purpose our brain sends out a certain nerve signal around our nose, it feels similar to an itch or a small irritation so in our response to such a feeling we scratch our noses.
