1:18 Yes, that Charlie Cox that would cover the BTCC races from 1997 to 2001.
That Mondeo had some of its bits salvaged and installed in what was the very first 5-door Mondeo in the BTCC, which debuted later that season when Cox returned.
Yup...
Probably the first person to fly a touring car out of Thruxton...
But certainly not the last...
Cox was never quite the same racer after he came back with the rebuilt hatchback, and retired from driving at the end of the year. Brilliant commentator but I always wonder what might have been, he had great pace at the start of the season and seemed to have the measure of Neal and R Kaye in the privateer class - don't know if that was a flash in the pan or if the accident affected him. Top bloke either way.

Proper touring cars
Definitely agree mate they look great and sound even better and go like lightning. The poor cars of current btcc are embarrassing compared to these beauties.

I've seen drivers fist fighting over a scratch at a supermarket parking lot but these people are calm althought their life is in danger
