Fazle, incredible video. You explained each step in great detail. I recently applied to EWR here in NJ and I was selected to take my computer-based test. What kinds of questions do they ask during the federal interview? Thank you!
The videos I list below will answer your questions Structure of Federal Interviews th-cam.com/video/9P1ArtzquEw/w-d-xo.html Effectively Answer all Interview Questions th-cam.com/video/RQGf45oOlH4/w-d-xo.html Types of Interview Questions with Examples th-cam.com/video/ihr3skIZ1sQ/w-d-xo.html In a next few weeks I'll be setting up a way to help people 1-on-1 with Federal job interview prep, resume writing and prep, and how to evaluate a Federal job posting and keyword evaluation. If you're interested in 1-on-1 help after you pass your CBT, let me know. I'll send you the details on how to get started. The types of questions on the CBT will be basic reading and writing, with the difficulty of an 8th grade final exam. The xray test is a different story. It tests color vision. To get an idea of what it will be like. go to Google and search "x-ray baggage screening images". Go through those images and try to identify the objects in the pictures. Those will be the same types of images you'll see on the xray portion of the CBT. I went in a took the test cold, back in 2009. There was no information on all this back then, especially no images on Google.
Everything is going smoothly so far. I'm currently waiting on my airport assessment. Thank you for all you hard work to produce these videos, they have help clarify the entire process.
I have applied to the FB group with both of my FB accounts. I completed the CBT, and filled out everything for the E-qip SF-86 and submitted it a few weeks ago but I haven't received any response about the background check. I'm wondering when they will start the investigation or if they already have. I'm still waiting for my airport assessment, and I even completed a second application to a different airport nearby to hopefully increase the odds of being selected soon for airport assessment. How would I know when the background investigation is complete? Does every applicant get interviewed by a investigator? Do they send a email to inform me that the investigation is complete?
1. You will have an actual interview with an investigator and you'll get a document uploaded to your eOFP when your investigation is complete. Don't worry about this for now. 2. Yes everyone gets an interview 3. Yes
Just passed the CBT test yesterday and accepted the contingent offer. Hoping the process doesn’t take long, really looking forward to a opportunity like this
For my computer test in NC, they gave me noX-Ray test. My test dealt with identifying shapes, tracing numbers in order, and doing 2D- 3D shape forms and figure which side belongs to which. My mind was blown 😂. I guess it varies from state to state
@@longdongshlong8297 I didn’t, idk what mean having to know what sides belong to a folded piece of paper to check what people have in their brief cases 🤦🏿♂️
This new version of the test seems to make more sense because when you’re looking at an X-ray image it’s one big puzzle. You’re having to find different object and piece them together in your head to make sure everything in the bag makes sense and that it looks like it supposed to be there.
Just wanted you to know I watching all of your vids about TSA and it significantly helped me understand the process. I applied maybe in April or May and have now gone through the whole process and been officially offered a job and have accepted it. Orientation and training should start soon with my official starting day being Nov 8. Thanks for all your help!
@@theTSAguy I’m still OJT but I’m about to get certified for 4 basic positions until FLETC where we train for everything else. I like it. Today specifically went by extremely fast. Thanks for the help with the videos and thank you for answering my questions. I had an interview and just got a call saying I passed the interview and now moving on to the next to step!!!!
I'm heading to my "Airport Assessment" in Kona Hawaii this Wednesday. (Its in an office building near a Costco a couple miles from the Airport ) I passed my CBT almost 2 years ago! I'm pretty sure the Pandemic added a year to my process! I think the process has changed somewhat since you tested, I completed my credit check, e86, Selective Service forms right after my contingent offer, and then WAITED. Thanks for your videos, they are helping me prepare for the assessment!
Yea it added a year to everyone's process. Which bites because the process is already drawn-out as it is. Most people are doing virtual interviews. I guess Kona figured out how to get in-person set up.
@@theTSAguy I would have LOVED a virtual interview! I'm flying in from Arizona and a subcompact rental costs $480 for 3 days on the Big Island! Im probably spending a little more than you did when you committed yourself to drive to Jacksonville! I've been wanting to move to Hawaii for years now, so this may finally be my deciding factor!
@@jayl9920 hahaha yea donating blood plasma was a lot easier. $480 for a car, plus hotels, food and parking...I hope you got a full-time offer. But it's worth it. I guess...I can't really tell until I pass everything and start working. But I'm excited either way and happy that I made it this far.
I’m now on the background check process. How long does it usually take? 6/17-Applied 6/29- CBT 6/29- Contingent Offer 6/30- SF-86 Completion 7/13- Airport Assessment 8/10- Passed Medical Assessment 8/10-Waiting on Background Check
Get your SF86 done ASAP. Don’t worry about how long it takes, it can be a while. You’ll be able to start with interim clearance as long as your SF86 is submitted error free.

I applied two years ago and finally got my assessment last week . I went took my medical and filled out my e86 a day after my interview . How much longer do u think it'll be till I'm in the ready pool . I applied to Bush airport in Houston , Tx . Idk if that's considered a Big or Small airport .
Depending on the size of your airport and what their hiring needs are...might be a week to a few months. At ATL when I applied, it was less than a month. Houston Bush Int'l is a major global hub, so should be less than a month. If you haven't subscribed go ahead and do so. I'll have more videos coming
Yea got this same email this morning was wondering. Went to the site to register with my SS and it said already on file so I’m guessing I gotta wait for my assessment
Great explanation bud I just finished the CBT yesterday and did the e86 today. I had already done the e86 prior for Top Secret clearance for a different job so it was mostly still all there making it much easier to complete. Now I’m waiting for the Airport Assessment. Thanks for this video. I am colorblind however but did pass the CBT. I can see color but can’t pass a colorblind test using Ishi hara so wondering which test they give.
Medical takes a few hours, background cash take 90 days to get your interview scheduled and then another 90 to you get a final result. You get an interim clearance to your full investigation clears. There's no way to speed up the process even if you're former military or police. Every agency does your investigation all over again, unless you're getting an upgrade in clearance within the same agency. If you haven't subscribed go ahead and do so. I'm putting up more videos as soon as my work schedule stabilizes again
Thank you so much for taking the time out to get us all this great information!!! I just have one question.. I heard you say that they pull your credit report.. do I have to have great credit? Because I’m currently working on mines now and it’s not that good yet!

I’m hoping I can be done with everything and start by the summer or sooner. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I worked at the Atlanta airport and my starting was $15.50. TSA and FAA are on an antiquated pay scale, so the pay is a lot different from the rest of the government. I left to a different agency with in DHS back in 2013, so I'm no longer on the TSA pay scale. If you want to ball park what you will be paid. Look up the GS-5 pay in your locality. Then subtract 10k off that. If you're part-time, after you subtract 10k, then you divide by 2. I never intended on staying at TSA passed 2 years. So I didn't care much about pay. I just needed a foot-in-the-door. I'll have a video going up tomorrow and more videos about the TSA and Federal promotion structure, life after TSA and how to transition between Federal agencies. If you haven't already subscribed, go ahead and do so, that way you don't miss the videos.
@@theTSAguy I got an email about the sf86. Then I had heard of your credit is not that good that you will be disqualified. The progress tracker in the candidate portal is just an info-graphic. If that does not update then there is still nothing to worry about. You're waiting on security clearance and drug testing. Once everything clears then you will be moved to the "ready pool". You'll get an email notifying.
Hi sir! Great video! However, could you tell me when does training take place after the airport assessment and its process/timeline at the training facility? Thank you!

You will get a start date and you just need to report on that date. Make sure the salary is sufficient to cover the cost of living. South Florida, like New Jersey, is not cheap.
Hi there, I have followed you since I passed the CBT exams. I already completed the e-86 forms and submitted them, and I am currently waiting for my airport assessment. That was July 31, 2023. I received an email telling me to wait as the processing procedure is on a first-come, first-serve basis. I checked my email daily, but it's already September 10, 2023, and I am still waiting to hear from the TSA. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Security clearance won’t be quick and it never has been. All you can do is wait for OIG to complete your vetting. It’s usually 120 days but it can take longer depending on backlogs and clearance priorities.

Don’t put all you hopes into one job if you’re qualified for others that pay more. The speed of you hiring will depend on how fast your airport is hiring. Larger airports = higher turnover = faster hiring
I haven’t heard about my interview results yet, but I got two emails for background check and medical check. Is that good? I did my interview virtually
Hey! I watched your video and your very informative! I had a question about the gateway eOrientation, the gateway the send you from the offer letter. What happens if you don’t complete it before the due date? Will you still be able to go to orientation day? Will you lose the job?
It depends on how that airport wants to handle it but most likely your hire date will be pushed back until you complete it. Are you unable to finish it on time? If so then let the hiring office know and give a reason as to why. That way they aren’t left wondering.
@@theTSAguy the due date is march 13 Sunday, so today basically. I tried to contact them before no response presumably because it’s the weekend, I’ve also contacted them on Friday before and no response. My account is locked most likely due to inactivity but it hasn’t been 30 days yet. There still could be other reasons. Orientation day is march 28, entry of date is the 27th. My biggest concern is the job itself. Did I lose the job because I couldn’t fill out the gateway orientation forms on time? Do I still have the job but things are delayed? What will happen? I will definitely let them know asap and explain everything.
Hi new hire here mines is totally different I sign the forms and I never went for fingerprinting or airport assessment I just waiting on background check
When you apply, are you applying for any airport or just one airport? What happens if you move in-between the time that you apply and your airport assessment?, etc
I’m not sure if you answered this , but what do you recommend on attire to the airport assessment interview? Suit or is jeans and a button up shirt okay ?
The airport assessment is now virtual via Webex due to COVID. When doing virtual interviews you can wear a button-up shirt. I usually throw on a tie and sport coat to show them I'm serious about the job. Even when I do phone interviews I still wear a suit and tie just to get into the proper interview mind set. I actually cover dress-code in my video on interviewing. When it comes to interviews you always want to dress conservatively. There have been multiple reports of people passing the CBT but still received rejection notices due to showing up in jeans. The rejection notice literally stated, "Failure to adhere to professional attire". I too thought that was taking it too far but the TSA does require testing sites to complete candidate evaluation forms. The forms do ask about how the candidate is dressed and punctuality. During my in-person interview in 2011 there were several people that showed up in jeans. One guy even had on a sweater vest and a tie with nice jeans that he ironed. Long story-short....I never saw any them again. Ask yourself this, if you were a federal hiring manager and your candidate walked in wearing jeans, would you hire them to represent your agency? If you haven't subscribed go ahead and do so. I'll have more videos coming.
Thank you man I appreciate that. I am scheduled for an in person interview here on the Big Island of Hawaii. I got the date and time as well as the address to meet in person. Definitely nervous and only due to the thoughts of what if I wear the wrong Attire.
Wear some khakis or dress pants and a button down. Throw on a tie when you get inside. Just no jeans. I’m sure it’s usually too hot to wear suit jacket lol
Hi, it is very useful information!! But I have a question since you apply the job in may 2010 and finally get the offer in July 2011. Is it common to take up to a year to be hired? Thank you sooooo much!
Yes very common, but now that TSA lost most of their people did to covid (they quit) the hiring will go faster since travel is coming back. I actually applied in 2009 and got hired in 2011. The dates on my Candidate Dashboard a published incorrectly. I don't know why but that's what HRAccess did. Took me 22 months to get hired. The fastest I've seen it go is 90 days. I'm working 1-on-1 with one subscriber now to get him prepped for his interview. Took him a year to get to the Airport assessment phase. He applied last year. If you haven't already subscribed please do so. I'll have more videos coming, it's just taking a bit to get them out since my computer isn't built to video edit.
Hello, thank you for your video! I'm at the last step in the hiring process. I passed all my exams and tests. I filled our the e-qip or form 86 and they have send it back to me. I made sure everyting is correct and this is about 2 weeks ago. Do you know how long it took in your case until it came back from the correction? This process takes so long ...
They will go back and forth as many times as they need to in order to correct all errors, I had 6 revisions when I did it. They won’t tell you if it’s all correct, you’ll just move into the ready pool after you complete all steps in the hiring process.
@@theTSAguy Thank you so much for telling me. So, I will not be notified if I pass the background check or not and I will also not be notified when they put me into the ready pool. Unfortunately, I'm not able to see my process in the candidate portal for some kind of reason. This would mean that I have to wait until the ask me to go to Georgia some day or they might never contact me and I will never get another notification after I send my correction of the e86. Right? Thank you so much for the answer!!
Hello Fazle nice to meet u and thank you for the info in this tsa Process :) Question i just uploading my SF-86 , now it shows in my candidate portal im in the assessment tab. So what is the assessment ?
Does the TSA conduct a "home interview" like some law enforcement agencies do. Where they come to your house and want to look at everything, including search your computer for anything unusual? I knew someone applying for a position in records and they showed up and asked to look around.
@ReaverLordTonus basic public trust. It won’t be invasive. Most likely a questionnaire will be sent out to your contacts. Someone may or may not call/visit. I wouldn’t even worry about it.
I am at the step were I did E-86 and waiting it's been about 14 days not but I have not had and airport assessment but I have not received my travel number. What's is your guess on what's going on
Hi! Thank you for the detailed video. I have a question. I took the new CBT exam and never got the results from them. A few days later I got an email with the conditional offer. I accepted and filled out a bunch of forms with deadline dates. At this point the E-Qip is the only form pending but I have not been given the code for it. I had applied for the TSA position 2 years and a code was provided to me but that has long expired. I reached out to the helpdesk email but response since a week. Any advice for me. I read on various forums that people reach out to the airports with similar issues but i have no contact with any airport staff that can help me with logging into the E-QiP website.
Here is an update i just turned my background check couple weeks back. currently waiting on next steps. Candidate portal is still down.and i just realized the sequence of the steps has changed i havent done the physical yet.
Hey Fazl. I accepted the offer and signed the onboarding documents they sent me after passing the CBT but I never heard back. What is the next step? Will the airport call or send an email for the interview? Thank you
You will be scheduled for an interview by the local TSA corporate office. You will be scheduled with multiple people on the same day but you will interview alone with a panel of 1-3 people.
Can the assessment be completed in any state? I have an interview for CLT but currently live in NJ. I am moving to Charlotte just not as quick as my application is going
it can be done remotely by zoom call or you will need to travel to your hiring airport. The upside is that you only need to do it once and it counts for all your applications.
Fazle, incredible video. You explained each step in great detail. I recently applied to EWR here in NJ and I was selected to take my computer-based test. What kinds of questions do they ask during the federal interview? Thank you!

2. Yes everyone gets an interview
3. Yes

How long did it take to get CBT invite after you applied?
I did a test application about 2 months ago. I got the invite within 2 weeks. After the announcement closes.
Please tell me about the CBT?
I made a video on this, subscribe to my channel and look for the CBT video. It’s called, “how to pass the CBT x-ray test”
For my computer test in NC, they gave me noX-Ray test. My test dealt with identifying shapes, tracing numbers in order, and doing 2D- 3D shape forms and figure which side belongs to which. My mind was blown 😂. I guess it varies from state to state
Yea they changed I’ll he test this year.
I took it and surprisingly passed 😂 I was so confused 🤦🏽♂️
@@longdongshlong8297 I didn’t, idk what mean having to know what sides belong to a folded piece of paper to check what people have in their brief cases 🤦🏿♂️
This new version of the test seems to make more sense because when you’re looking at an X-ray image it’s one big puzzle. You’re having to find different object and piece them together in your head to make sure everything in the bag makes sense and that it looks like it supposed to be there.
Yea mines too, they changed all the test this year. I’m at the process where I do my drug test and things now. But the process is kind of prolonged
Just wanted you to know I watching all of your vids about TSA and it significantly helped me understand the process.
How long does the medical portion part take along with the background check?
Will me being ex military police help speed up the process?
Medical takes a few hours, background cash take 90 days to get your interview scheduled and then another 90 to you get a final result. You get an interim clearance to your full investigation clears. There's no way to speed up the process even if you're former military or police. Every agency does your investigation all over again, unless you're getting an upgrade in clearance within the same agency.

You can.... if you give back the patches or anything that has TSA/DHS markings on them. I took off the patches and kept the jackets, those were actually good quality. The rest I put in a plastic bags and gave back. Even gave back the socks just to troll them 🤣🤣

Yea there's a lot of loop holes. I never knew i had to register. I was auto-registered some how, so I don't know what happens if you don't register or the different exemptions available.
As long as you send it, you're fine.
Hey the TSA Guy. I came to the USA as an immigrant and then became a citizen. I came here when I was like 31 so I was not registered for selective service. My application is now at selective service, so how do I pass that area knowing I could not Register for selective service and was not an American.
You just say you didn’t register and then file for a waiver

Is this job physically demanding; such as continuous lifting? Also are there many 55 and over?
No, this is a very easy job. Just need a very comfortable pair of shoes because of all the standing. The lifting is continuous but not in the sense that it's exhausting. The conveyor does all the work, you only touch a bag if you're physically looking at what is inside.

Contingent offer May 19th
Airport Assessment June 6th 2023
Medical Exam June 19th
Completed SF-86 June 22nd

I’m waiting for SF-86 response. I should be good because I just received my secret clearance in April of 2023. 😊
Did TSA give you the secret clearance?
@@theTSAguy No, it was from another company.

Hi! I just took my airport assessment. I was extremely nervous. After the interview they told me to make sure I look out for an email on what the next steps will be. Do u think that’s a positive sign that I passed?
Yea you’re good, I’ll d you failed you’d be notified by COB
Did you have your interview virtually and if so do you know which app was used..? I have an interview coming up and can’t remember what was mentioned.
@@jadajada1181 I went through the process back in 2011. Everything changed due to covid. I think it was a zoom call. You should have gotten the details in your scheduling email. The link to the facebook group is in the description box. You can request access to the group and the people in the group. Majority of them have already interviewed and received offers.
Mayanah. I took my airport assessment around 3 weeks ago. They use WebEx. I within a day or two received confirmation I passed. Last week, took my Medical. Fazle appeared to have taken all those at one time. I'm experiencing it with little steps. I've already turned in my e-86 which was a pain in the ass. My credit is excellent and so is my background. I had to take an early retirement selling engineering plastics. I'm 64 and collecting my SS. I don't need full time employment. Just a part time gig and this is not a career move for me. I honestly cannot see how anyone could survive on the little money they make.
@@MrPolymers hi and yes I’m experiencing little steps as well. I passed my AA about 3 weeks ago. I already completed my e-86. Haven’t heard anything as of yet regarding my background. They did mail me my medical kit for my medical evaluation but it’s still pending to schedule an appointment. The process is a little slow but I’m just going to stay positive. I’m hoping I can be done with everything and start by the summer or sooner. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Info is good…passed my cbt today…waiting for airport interview
Congrats, watch my videos on interviewing to get ready. If you need additional help let me know
Is it weird that they are doing my background check before my airport interview? I thought that came after
Absolutely normal. After the CBT there’s no specific order of events, everything else happens simultaneously.
How’s the starting salary in the state where you’re from?

Thank you so much for this video really helpful. I have my Airport Assessment in November here @Honolulu. So im wondering what step/when do you go to FLETC?
You go to FLETC once you’re hired and there’s an available date to send you
I applied on 6/02/23, for MCO ORLANDO AIRPORT Took and passed the CBT on 6/09/23. Received my contingent offer on 6/10/23. The progress tracker in the candidate portal is just an info-graphic. If that does not update then there is still nothing to worry about. You're waiting on security clearance and drug testing. Once everything clears then you will be moved to the "ready pool". You'll get an email notifying.
Hi Fazle, great video as usual. Could you do a video on ways disrupted customers are dealt with?

Hi sir! Great video! However, could you tell me when does training take place after the airport assessment and its process/timeline at the training facility? Thank you!
Training happens once you’re hired. Training is about 2 months from start to finish
Thanks, brother. Passed the CBT two weeks ago. I originally applied to White Plains (NY) as well as a few other airports like (Fort Lauderdale) & (Key West) .. I received an offer from both Florida Airports & lastly NY. How does the process work if I need to relocate, I’m currently in New Jersey?

It depends on how that airport wants to handle it but most likely your hire date will be pushed back until you complete it. Are you unable to finish it on time? If so then let the hiring office know and give a reason as to why. That way they aren’t left wondering.
@@theTSAguy I’m unable to complete it on time as my account is locked.

Does the TSA conduct a "home interview" like some law enforcement agencies do. Where they come to your house and want to look at everything, including search your computer for anything unusual? I knew someone applying for a position in records and they showed up and asked to look around.
The type of investigation depends on the level of clearance you’re applying for.
@@theTSAguy well I'm applying for a TSO position at my local Airport. Not sure what level of clearance that requires.
What's is your guess on what's going on
It’s a slow process, nothing out of the ordinary. My process took 22 months.

Hey Fazl. I accepted the offer and signed the onboarding documents they sent me after passing the CBT but I never heard back. What is the next step? Will the airport call or send an email for the interview? Thank you
You airport will reach out to schedule an interview.
Do they reach via email or a phone call?
@moulayjam it will most likely be email, however some airports might call. Only time I got a phone call was after I accepted the final job offer.
Thank You . What is group interview after after when I passed the TSA CBT TEST? ?
You will be scheduled for an interview by the local TSA corporate office. You will be scheduled with multiple people on the same day but you will interview alone with a panel of 1-3 people.
Can the assessment be completed in any state? I have an interview for CLT but currently live in NJ. I am moving to Charlotte just not as quick as my application is going
it can be done remotely by zoom call or you will need to travel to your hiring airport.
The upside is that you only need to do it once and it counts for all your applications.
