Hi Aimee. I just love how you are always pushing the envelope. Your often looking for the next step, or three, to make the work absolutely "your own"! So cool, some of the ideas and techniques that you come up with. I love the way your creative brain works. Thanks for all the new, inventive ways of art-ing!
Hi Aimee! I cannot wait to try this! I love how you used your stencils and rubbed through them with a saturated towel. Thanks for sharing! I’ve subscribed.
Hi Aimee, new Subscriber here, I really enjoyed watching your tutorials, and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of them, thanks for sharing, have a lovely day :D
Great idea! I tried CitraSolv with Nat Geo once before, but didn't think the results were worth the mess. This makes me want to play with the technique again. TFS!
GORGEOUS! The best examples I have seen! My mom is an art teacher and learned this technique over 15 years ago! Where did you get your stencils? They are AMAZING and so delicate! Thank you! So excited!
These are fantastic! I tried this technique a few years ago and used pieces of the pages on tags. I didn't try the mark making or stenciling, but now I am going to go back to some of the pages I saved and give that a try! Thanks for the inspiration! Great idea to use in a journal; will try that as well!
Love this. Would not have thought of using stencils, that is such a cool idea. Do you use any sort of fixativ to prevent making a mess on projects when using these? - i read some where that it may smear with different media.
Love this ! I did mine today for 1st time! Wondering if these papers can be used on gelli plate or could citrosolv damage the plate? The papers have a strong odor so they are now sitting outside.
Have you had luck with this technique using any other degreasers? I'd like to give this a try, but the citrasolv is a little out of budget for me. But I know there are a lot of other great degreasers on the market. Any thoughts? Thank you for the tutorial, by the way. this was a lot of fun to watch. 😊
Bonjour j’aime ce que vous faites mais je voudrais savoir si nous pouvons faire cette technique seulement avec des magasines de national géographic ou si nous pouvons faire la même chose avec d’autres magasines❤❤
In the two CitraSolv videos I’ve watched the teachers have emphasized removing some pages, maybe pages with ads? Why did you decide not to remove the ad pages?
Yay! Saw you post this process on Insta and am so excited to see it here today. Just placed the order for the citra solve. Kinda pricey? But it probably goes a long way...hopefully. National Geo's - the newer ones - are at my local junk shop by the loads. Will pick up now. :) Wonder what other magazines you could use? What is the reason that NG works?
Hummm... I think one needs to make sure it's the concentrated citra solv. I ordered :) 2 ontainers of the citra solv spray and it is not working. Using NG from 1979 up....tried several. So, does it have to be the CS concentrated type??
I tried this and it was an epic fail. I was told that the newer Geographic magazines do not work. Can you tell me what years span of the magazine work the best?
Hello Aimee, after years of saying this is something I want to try, for the last couple of days...I DID IT! What you fail to mention is...IT'S ADDICTIVE!!!! Literally I don't want to stop, to the point I just purchase two old copies of NG from the website. Does the smell eventually go away? I love the smell of Citra Solv have used it for years on other things ( like label removal) but does it take a while before the smell goes away? That is why I love using it in cleaning because the smell doesn't linger forever.
Hi Evelyn I’m so glad you had fun with this technique! I love it too. I thought the smell did linger a little longer on the papers than it does when I use it for cleaning. For me it was a few weeks but it did eventually go away.
hummm I have tried this in so many ways and cannot for the life of me, get it to work! Does the oil need to be dried? Does the weather need to be hotter?? what in the dickens!?
Oh my gosh so frustrating! So a couple ideas. I’ve had certain years of the National Geographic not work. I think it is the mid 80’s that have different ink. Also sometime the CitraSolv can go bad and not work. I’ve had it happen were I put a slightly dirty brush inside the bottle and ruin the whole thing. It does have to be Nat Geos I haven’t found any other magazines that work.
@@aimeebishop9851 Ok! I had this exact magazine you have here! Annnnnd IT WORKED! I think i used too little the first time and too much maybe the 2nd ... and they turned out beautifully! So now...I'm obssesssssssed lol. I just got a huge stack of nat geos at an estate sale...........so! woot! Thanks Aimee!
I need to research this a bit. I know there are some years that don’t work as week or at all. I used 2019 ones, but I’ve heard that the older ones work best. But how old is old? To some people the 80s is ancient. 😂😂😂
@@aimeebishop9851 I’d be curious about this too. I did this process years ago and had very disappointing results for the most part. Can’t recall what they were saying then about which years worked and which didn’t but my results weren’t worth the effort regardless. Yours are quite nice.
Gorgeous!
Absolutely will be trying thank you

I would love to see examples of how you used these papers. 🤗
Those are awesomely cool. I’ve gotta admit I have a little bit of stencil envy. 😉😀
This is absolutely amazing 🤩 thank you for sharing 🤗🤗🤗
Very cool thanks for Sharing
Just love what you showed us today..off to buy some Citrosol .....You are so inspiring! ❤️🇨🇦

El Citrasolv es cariiiiiisimo!

This is Genius!! TFS ❤️
It is also much more expensive!!! Good ventilation is a must, even though it is "natural"...
Hi Aimee, great demo of using the citrasolv. Why does the smell linger and even after a few weeks the ink still transfers when you touch them. Thanks.
Love this. Would not have thought of using stencils, that is such a cool idea.

The down side of magazines is the shine!! Can you address that problem?

TFS- you are so generous - does the Citrisol make the pages smell? If I used them in a journal, would there be an odor ?
HI! Once they are dry I do not detect a scent. But Citra Solv is a strong smell when wet, I like to use it in a well ventilated area for sure.
Thanks for this❣️ I hope mine turn out 1/10th as well as yours! 🙀💗
.I would love to see what you come up with! I bet they will be wonderful.

It lasts forever and works for laser photo print transfers too!
Wow I love this. Does it have to be a National Geographic magazine? Cam i try another type of magazine ?
Hi! To my knowledge it works only with the ink used in National Geographic. I’ve tried other magazines like Vogue and it did not have the same effect.

What is Citra Solv used for? I dont know if we have it here in Aus but wonder if I can search it out by its intended use :) love the end result :)
Hi Jenny! Its a citrus based solvent for cleaning. Hope you can find it!
@@aimeebishop9851 Thank you :)
P.S. Isn't it something like the newer the Natl. Geographics, the better the outcome? Or is it the older ones, pre 1980's or so??... I can't remember

Can any magazine be used or does it have to be National geographic?
I have only had success with National Geographic with this technique. I believe it has something to do with the type of ink they use.
What is Citrus Solve?
Still shiny ??
Thank you Aimee! This is interesting.
People, please wear gloves with this technique! I don't think the NG type of inks are safe on the skin.
Difficult to find in holland
It's not the ink, its the clay coated paper that creates the effect
Used it 20 yrs ago...they might have changed formula and made it weaker...having less success now...it worked an all paper then
