I LOVE this. I bet it would work beautifully on smooth Bristol paper or nice Hot press watercolor. I bet either alcohol inks or watercolor would be so beautiful. I only worry about finding a good image to transfer. I guess I need to test my own printer to see if it works for me. Thank you for a great video.

Very cool! I've tried the altered paper thing with Citra Solve, but this looks awesome too!

Fab. I can’t get Citra Solv in the UK but found something called Sonnet Orange Power Cleaner. If it doesn’t work I could think about doing some cleaning with it!

How did you get on? Did it work?

I wonder if there’s a substitute for CitraSolve that isn’t orange based? Most citrus doesn’t bother me but any orange related citrus is a terrible migraine trigger for me.
But this process is so fascinating I’m almost considering trying an N95 mask, gloves and working outside with a fan!

I believe Wintergreen oil will also work for this, but I have not actually tried it.

Thanks for reminding me about this technique, Jane! So easy! I can't remember, does it work as well with color laser prints?

No, it doesn't seem to work with those, but check out my inkjet tutorial on organza because that might fill the bill for you.

If I were to print on a silk scarf using this technique will it be hand washable? Great share! Ty

Thanks so much for this video! My question is, where can I find a regular photo printer - would I have to buy my own?

Most laser b/w printers will work. You can buy an "old time" photocopy machine and they aren't terribly expensive but make sure it uses carbon toner.

My query is where to get this Citra solve?

Would you need to use an iron? If I transfer to paper (or to cloth) could I let it air dry? Maybe I could use gloss or matte acrylic medium on the paper afterwards.

No iron ever needed. As a matter of fact it will smear if you iron it while it is still damp. No need for a sealer either, unless you want it to be shiny for some reason. It's good to go just exactly the way it is.

Question: are you using full strength or diluted? It looks pale in your bottle?

  • @j.travelerbooks7628

Citra Solv is expensive. Can it be diluted a bit with water and will it still work?

    • @BothThingsCreative
      @BothThingsCreative  ปีที่แล้ว

A little goes a long way so it will last a long time, but it won't work if you dilute it.

citra solv can't be bought in Europe. Can you tell what's made of? Or does anybody know an other product that can be bought in central Europe?

I scouted around about this and don't have a real answer about a substitute like Citrisolv, but apparently wintergreen oil will do the same thing. Hope this helps!
