Cats vocalizations can help you a lot in terms of what to understand it as. Ppl that ignore cat behavior often end up scratched and have the cat avoid them cause they don‘t understand the cat. But cats have a pretty in depth aggression scale you can know to better understand them and their signals. Hissing is a more severe level of aggression, growling and throat cries are often also more severe. Loud glaring mews are a scream for her (can sound like a human scream in fact if they are in a lot of distress) and in this case the cat was so terrified of probably being k*lled by them that it was growling, screaming and hissing. Aka the most severe level of aggression to free itself plus ofc the violent clawing and biting. The better you know these the better u can know how to handle your cat. In fact i often wrestle with mine and play fight with my hand being grabbed and held by his claws but he doesn‘t hurt me cause i know how to handle it. Holding still when he‘s holding my hand like that so he knows to release and that i want him to free my hand. Cats are super cool intelligent pets. You just have to learn to understand them. And they will love you. My cat often comes up to cuddle and rub against me all by himself. And he does because he knows i respect him. That is why often times when you ignore cats they approach you because in their language it‘s a sign of respect and safety in terms of you being a safe person to interact with.

My cat isn’t ferocious at all, but when we are play fighting, if I put my hands in my sleeves he seems know it’s protection, and only aims for bare skin. He doesn’t waste his time biting my sleeve he knows. Smart, killer kitty

Did that once with my cat. He was VERY spicy when I got him albeit nowhere near as spicy as this one. He was more of a growler than a screamer. Had to give him some medication. Though to be fair, I only had my forearms inside plate armor and wore thick welding gloves. Although I had considered the breastplate as well. The confused look on his face was absolutely priceless. He tried to bite my arm, did a double take and sniffed at the metal, hissed and then resigned himself to his fate. But not without trying one last time to shred my hands to ribbons. I could feel him really laying into the leather and chewing on it. Thankfully it did not amount to much. He then only growled and had an air of "I will end you" about him.
Actually I think it was trying to bargain! Cats don't actually meow amongst each other, only at humans. And their meows are meant to mimick the sounds a kitten makes at her mother! I feel like it was, for a single moment, trying to say "please no 🥺" before going "AAA I'LL KILL YOU".

I (lightly) feed two of them where I live Just enough to keep them from starving but they are anything but friendly and will even hiss and growl If you get a little close. It's because the guy subdued him in a certain way. It's hard to judge what's happening because we don't know what happened before this video was made. There are better ways to deal with cats. I'm sure this fellow is just fine at home, but for whatever reason isn't good with strange places and vets. These people have a job to do, though, and are going to do it as quickly and efficiently as possible, rather than trying to acclimate the cat to their presence before proceeding. This is clearly an assembly line approach to pet care and it's obviously not good for the animal.

For anyone out there that's never dealt with cats, especially feral cats. The strength, speed and stamina these things have are extremely underrated. When I was young there was a kid from the neighborhood that was attacked by one. Lost vision in one of his eyes and was covered head to toe with scratches and bite marks. It took 3 grown men to finally get the cat off the kid.
For their size, cats are crazy strong. I remember giving my roommates cat a flea bath, we used a wire document holder as a sort of cage to hold it down. He literally lifted the cage several time even with most of my body weight pushing down on it

If he didn’t put good pressure on the neck, cat could have slipped his head through, then doc would a) have to restart & b) potentially injure the cat or themselves with the needle. As someone who still has scars more than a decade later from a cat going ape shit on my arms. I can confirm they were very undergeared for this task. I haven’t bled that much in my entire life.
Same shit happened to me as a child. I was vacuuming the wrong part of the house that day & will never forget how my own cat attacked me and clawed my wrist. But that cat in the video is clearly scared - likely due to dealing with humans doing stuff to it.

Actually they can scream...my cat had to be restrained for a blood draw (in another room at the vets) he started "screaming" - that cracked voice .. I started crying like crazy though I didn't think he was being abused. This sound brought back the feeling.
I appreciate their patience and care. I rented a room from a couple that got two cats from somebody on craigslist. These cat's were scared. They thought they should act like my cat who I rescued that I had built up trust and bonded with. Hey threw these cat's out the window. I got animal control to come get them. They were so scared. I got messed up but worth it. Animals deserve compassion.

We’ve had cats for 15 years and all of them have just had the ”Alright, fine…” attitude at the vet. No biting hissing or anything just accepting the situation😂. We’ve been very fortunate to have such nice cats

I have always had cats, can shew them or if need be smack and they in general are really good cats on the other hand my old friend has 2 and both are pretty much the same in in this video with out touching them, the cat walked up to me while I was sitting on the lounge and deadset started going me for being in it's chair and I just without thinking shew it away and it fuckin latches onto my arm and continues to half rip my arm open and my friend just says aw sorry about that he always does it to everyone yet won't punish it cause she doesn't believe it that "you cant teach a cat, there their own beings oh it's wrong to smack a cat" FFS she just doesn't realise no one go to her house because she has mongrel cats and does nothing about it. It's always the "animal people" who have terrible pets
@Daylan Poore I'm an animal person but you'd best believe they would get a smack. It don't have to hurt! a light tap gets the point across, especially if you're rewarding good behavior. My cat knows when something is wrong due to tone and the words I'm using. We got a kitten, any time I'd tell the kitten no my cat would pop his head up scared out of his sleep that he somehow did something wrong (regardless of if I said kitten or the kittens name) 😂 now he is used to it, he just lifts his head to check then goes back to sleep. I also hate when people say they can't clip nails, give meds, or brush them. My cats know "Treats" so they will put up with it 😂 sometimes they are even happy. Rewarding good behavior is so important.
I'm giving my boy some prescription calming meds from vet before trip. He was absolutely frantic at vet-but he never snarled, bit, or clawed. He was just scrambling looking for a hiding spot. I would think if a cat was that bad you could have owner give them calming meds too.
Fun fact, the red thing on the cage is actually attached to another grate, and can be slid over to immobilize the cat by giving it less room to move. This is especially helpful for giving injections to an angry cat. I'm guessing they didn't do that here because they were moving it over to the carrier anyways
As much as most of my experiences with cats is more peaceful, that cat was already in shredding mode before he opened the lid. Cat claws are incredibly sharp and they are flexible and powerful enough to give you deep punctures with their backlegs and frontlegs at the same time. He could have regrabbed into a slightly gentler hold, but it would have needed yet another person with gloves to help turn the cat safely to loafing position. Ball position = maximum danger.
Most just hate cages, vets, strange places and ppl they see as strangers.... nothing was wrong with the cat. It was just scared. Trust me, I have 5 cats. They all go nuts when it's something unfamiliar to them. Not all act that way though. But a good majority do.

It's because the guy subdued him in a certain way. It's hard to judge what's happening because we don't know what happened before this video was made. There are better ways to deal with cats. I'm sure this fellow is just fine at home, but for whatever reason isn't good with strange places and vets. These people have a job to do, though, and are going to do it as quickly and efficiently as possible, rather than trying to acclimate the cat to their presence before proceeding. This is clearly an assembly line approach to pet care and it's obviously not good for the animal.

I had two cats for twenty years. I had no idea that some cats had such bad attitudes.
For anyone out there that's never dealt with cats, especially feral cats. The strength, speed and stamina these things have are extremely underrated. When I was young there was a kid from the neighborhood that was attacked by one. Lost vision in one of his eyes and was covered head to toe with scratches and bite marks. It took 3 grown men to finally get the cat off the kid.
If a cat attacks like that you grab the throat and squeeze as hard as you can. You will get scratched but it's much better than getting biten.

As someone who still has scars more than a decade later from a cat going ape shit on my arms. I can confirm they were very undergeared for this task. I haven’t bled that much in my entire life.
Same shit happened to me as a child. I was vacuuming the wrong part of the house that day & will never forget how my own cat attacked me and clawed my wrist.
But that cat in the video is clearly scared - likely due to dealing with humans doing stuff to it.

Actually they can scream...my cat had to be restrained for a blood draw (in another room at the vets) he started "screaming" - that cracked voice .. I started crying like crazy though I didn't think he was being abused. This sound brought back the feeling.

I appreciate their patience and care. I rented a room from a couple that got two cats from somebody on craigslist. These cat's were scared. They thought they should act like my cat who I rescued that I had built up trust and bonded with. Hey threw these cat's out the window. I got animal control to come get them. They were so scared. I got messed up but worth it. Animals deserve compassion.

We’ve had cats for 15 years and all of them have just had the ”Alright, fine…” attitude at the vet. No biting hissing or anything just accepting the situation😂. We’ve been very fortunate to have such nice cats

I have always had cats, can shew them or if need be smack and they in general are really good cats on the other hand my old friend has 2 and both are pretty much the same in in this video with out touching them, the cat walked up to me while I was sitting on the lounge and deadset started going me for being in it's chair and I just without thinking shew it away and it fuckin latches onto my arm and continues to half rip my arm open and my friend just says aw sorry about that he always does it to everyone yet won't punish it cause she doesn't believe it that "you cant teach a cat, there their own beings oh it's wrong to smack a cat" FFS she just doesn't realise no one go to her house because she has mongrel cats and does nothing about it.

@Daylan Poore I'm an animal person but you'd best believe they would get a smack. It don't have to hurt! a light tap gets the point across, especially if you're rewarding good behavior. My cat knows when something is wrong due to tone and the words I'm using. We got a kitten, any time I'd tell the kitten no my cat would pop his head up scared out of his sleep that he somehow did something wrong (regardless of if I said kitten or the kittens name) 😂 now he is used to it, he just lifts his head to check then goes back to sleep.
I also hate when people say they can't clip nails, give meds, or brush them. My cats know "Treats" so they will put up with it 😂 sometimes they are even happy. Rewarding good behavior is so important.

How cats can go from completely mellow to furball of disaster is the funniest thing about them.
I'm giving my boy some prescription calming meds from vet before trip.
He was absolutely frantic at vet-but he never snarled, bit, or clawed. He was just scrambling looking for a hiding spot. I would think if a cat was that bad you could have owner give them calming meds too.
Fun fact, the red thing on the cage is actually attached to another grate, and can be slid over to immobilize the cat by giving it less room to move. This is especially helpful for giving injections to an angry cat.
I'm guessing they didn't do that here because they were moving it over to the carrier anyways
I would have sedated her before taking her out though. That was way too much stress to put her.....and that tech through. Poor scared girl.

As much as most of my experiences with cats is more peaceful, that cat was already in shredding mode before he opened the lid.
Cat claws are incredibly sharp and they are flexible and powerful enough to give you deep punctures with their backlegs and frontlegs at the same time.
He could have regrabbed into a slightly gentler hold, but it would have needed yet another person with gloves to help turn the cat safely to loafing position. Ball position = maximum danger.

Most just hate cages, vets, strange places and ppl they see as strangers.... nothing was wrong with the cat. It was just scared. Trust me, I have 5 cats. They all go nuts when it's something unfamiliar to them. Not all act that way though. But a good majority do.
