I've run cub cadet lawn tractors my whole life and recently got a 22hp, 2 cylinder, 46" deck ( to fit through my gate) and with the wideset front tires the steering angle is able to go extremely sharp. That lawn tractor is the closest tractor I've seen to a zero turn. Needless to say I'm very happy with my purchase and I'm glad to see you thought highly of the machine
I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
The reason is you don't have as much grass to pick up with the rake so you can go over it twice shoot it in one line Direction maybe two then you rake it this makes a lot easier hopefully that makes sense happy trails
I have a RTZ SX 46” KH, it is a smaller version but basically the same, it even has 4 wheel steer. I love mine. I purchased it last hear and it does a phenomenal job.
I've got the slightly smaller version - had three of them - and do some pretty rough stuff with it. Never been bogged even once. I love it. It has never let me down. And all the clowns who say otherwise from their lounge chairs just don't know. Has the same motor as practically everything else except Kabota- which costs 6 times as much. Cub Cadet has certainly arrived in the big time now.
I've mowed 5 ft . Johnson grass and reeds on acreage with a residential 46in. Cub cadet ztr. Takes awhile and had to double back a few times, but got er done. Mower is 15 years old now and still going strong.
i got a Cub Cadet snowblower. It’s awesome. Handles the snow like a boss, hand warmers, 4 forward and 2 reverse speeds… so far in 5 winters all i had to do is change the spark plug once and shoot some Gumout in the carb and it’s still a lower back saver. Great brand.
not bad.....and honestly anybody else channel I would have not click on this video. Top Notch is always honest and very open. Great Video!!! I have never thought about CubCadet as a lawnmower that I would buy.
i understand that everyone likes the 'back and forth' action, but that kills equipment. AND grass. start at the outside edge, and mow in a counter-clockwise direction. this throws the cut grass away from the mowing area, and means you only have to cut the grass ONE time. it also minimizes clumping. or don't. work the machines to death. it is your choice.
You could tell the rep knew his product and had great confidence in it. The mower did very well in the first field. I wouldn’t even use my mower in a field such as the second test. A bush hog behind a tractor would be more appropriate for that application. I do understand it was all done as a demonstration of the Z’s capabilities. It’s amusing to see how things shift over the years. Do you think we’re headed back to the steering wheel on a sit down mower? Good content. I’ve seen many on this machine done by other companies but so far yours has been the best. Thanks.
Have to give Cub credit. That mower was pretty impressive for the stuff you put it through. They just might have a good contender for the commercial market. Well done Cub!
I have an older residential model of cub cadet’s steering wheel design before they added power steering. I bought it because of the steepness of the hills I mow. I will definitely replace it with this mower. 3 yrs of residential use mowing 5 acres of hillside terrain and I have no complaints. Only thing I’ve added was a suspension seat (not an option when I bought it but standard on the 972) and a steering wheel knob. I have no issues with turf tear out doing 180 degree turns without the three point turn that lap bar machine require. Great machine.
what made it even tougher on the mower was you throwing multiple passes of grass onto the next pass. So it was basically mowing like a dozen foot pass or even more than that when you add in all the other passes of grass into that row.
Brian's lawn care, Michigan tested GPS set up on 60 inch, went good. Impressive machine, I use John Deere, went to buy bigger mower, Cub Cadet dealer had hard time starting it, JD started right up. JD isn't big box store junk, bought at JD dealer.
This place I moved into there is a cub cadet that wasn't running it's my new project I got it running now it just needs the blades put on and sharpened and the deck back on it
Tell Justin cool camera-gymnastics there. You don't have to worry about a long mowing video. That's why we watch it. Don't care about the equipment much, looooooooove the mowing. It's therapeutic. A well moved garden is quick peak at heaven's pastures.
We love Cub Cadet. We have their lawn tractor so nothing this big…. and its awesome. We have a hill in our yard that gets hard on the knees and CC was our choice.
I want one but with a 46-inch deck...I want to be able to use it in my little town and not to use it for a living...just make my life easier. I wonder how hard it is to maintain?
This mower produces the most visibly pleasing finish with nice long even contours, unlike other mowers with independent mower decks which bounce up and down giving a lumpy rough appearance.
I've watched a couple videos with this machine. It seems great and very versatile. From grass to snow. The boom cutter. How do you bill to use it? Do you figure what to charge? Your yearly expences and divide by the square yards and then add your profit margin??
I love this video BUT I would be very interested in a "How you maintain...." a mower like this or any of the equipment you use. From blades to grease, belts, oils, filters, all of it. How easy to get the deck off and clean it and does it have a hose hookup to clean it?
@@dsmith3134 Not arguing but isn't mowing wet grass and leaving it stuck on just as bad? If you get it cleaned off and then dried, between using the blades running on a dry surface and a leaf blower to get the rest of the moister off, it is clean and dry with nothing holding wet against the deck and blades. I agree you have to be vigilant in keeping your mower deck clean but when I pull it in for the night, it is clean and dry. Also, on my LT2-46 riding mower, the spindle bearings are sealed and you really can't grease them even with a fitting on it, it is all for show....why do they do that anyway? I'm guessing your "Pro" is much better than my little home mower. My last cub lasted 26 years, only had to replace the spindles once, at year 24. The neighbor took it and is still using it but I thought it was time for a new one that turned better, and I wish I had a ZT but money was tight.
Good video. I have a Cub Cadet Z-force 48 with the steering wheel and Kawasaki engine. My yard backs up to a lake and I'm the only one that can cut down to the water without ending up in the lake on it. It's a beast! I like having the same engine with a smaller deck because it never even starts to bog down and will mow in reverse.
I owned a Toro z-Turn a few years ago. It would slide down the slope into the ditch nearly every time I cut the grass. This machine impresses me how well it stayed on the slope.
We have the Pro Z 700 60 inch deck, 31 hp Kawasaki carburetor. The 700 and up series are beasts of mowers. We’ve put our mower through the wringer. We’ve cut grass on our 10 acre hill with no problem at all getting back up with the beast of the Kawasaki engine. It has about 200 hours on the meter right now. The manual says to change engine oil and filter every 50 engine hours.
I started my business with a used rzt 54” cub. Used it a year then bought one new. Same residential rzt 54”. I use it daily for my business and i would be comfortable mowing grass that tall with it. I since bought a 36” wright stander and have plans to buy another “commercial” mower. I love my cub. It has made me a lot of money. It didn’t cost much and I have yards where I know what I am doing and look way better than my competitors who are using 10-14k$ machines in same neighborhood. Same size yards. I have a 4 acre account I have been doing for 4 years with my residential rzt cub. Looks just as good or better than the property next to it that I see my competitors using wrights on. I call that profit when I’m doing the same size property with that much less cost. Profit not payments is what natters I can only imagine their higher end mowers would be that much better than my lower end rzt
Well said ...kills me guys spending crazy money on some brands and then out performed it's great to see test and try brands don't just think a name means the best in it's class
@Robert McCall Nice to hear someone else looks at that also. I could see gaining more for myself at least buy have 3 cubs like I got already out working for me.. 3x3,000.. three used trailers 1k a pop.. 12k goes a lot further that way. Granted left out cost of 2 additional pick ups. There’s 3 crews. Train them.. teach them some more.. and out perform the competition with effort and attention to detail. A poor operator can’t be made up with more expensive equipment
@justin Bowers JB lawn care I have no experience with walk behinds but wonder if that may be the appropriate addition to my set up.. what brand walk behind do you like?
I am half listening to videos today as I am doing other things. The word "Derby" caught my ear as that is where I graduated from '84. Then I saw the shirt, yep graduated there also. Then I head about hills, I do not seem to remember any. (I am in PA and my back yard is 500' above my front yard.) In any case. I have a Cub Cadet 2166 and it still runs fine. Last week I had to replace the steering wheel gear as it got chewed up from 15 years of service... I am in the slow process of landscaping and when I finish I will bet getting a bigger unit.
I love my 1974 John Deere H3 140 48” cut mower, it cuts better than my Bad Boy cuts, nothing is like the old mowers, they build them just like a big tractor, dual rear brakes, hydraulic lift deck, hydraulic connections in the front for dozer blade, hydraulics at the rear for Tiller and a three point hitch, 😎
You need to get or make your own adjustable side discharge chute (OCDC). I made one for my ZTR and I couldn't live without it, I'm always adjusting it as I mow so that I can control where the clippings go, it saves me work and time. I know that I could do that job faster with the same machine as long as I had my adjustable chute. You should always mow anti-clockwise when mowing long wet grass wherever possible (sometimes you can't avoid it like on trim cuts) so that you don't over load the poor machine (throw the grass clippings out over grass that has already been cut).
Last year I used a 21 cub cadet for all summer and fall cutting 15 yards a week. That it still runs with zero mechanical issues is pretty impressive to me (having hiked the governor to the point where I called it the "turbo cub".) No candle to my old ariens classic 21, but still it made some money and got me some exercise.
Well I own three and they will cut anything you can drive through! Might have to make a second pass but it does one heck of a job. Maintenance is a breeze and all mowing looks great!
I have a thing about trying to mow grass that's up to my knees or so on a lawnmower. I would probably put the mower attachment on our front end loader and and take it down with that.
Would love to see how one of these would do on one of our job sites lol we mow around gas lines and some grass is only a few inches and other grass can be up to 4+ foot high with the occasional swamp and pond
The only lawn mower my father would buy is a cub cadet... I remember back in 1995 he bought a new one about his 5th one and paid close to $8,000 for it... He had several pieces of rental property that he cut plus owned a subdivision that had lots that were vacant, and he kept them up as well ..i can't tell you how many hrs my butt was on that mower cutting grass as well... That's how I use to get a tan.... Lol riding the lawn mower... Man oh man they sure had come a long way... I can't imagine the price tag on that baby....
Isn't John Deere the parent company of Cub Cadet (to my understanding)? How heavy is that heifer? Doesn't look lite for REALLY wet lawns or near standing water yards.
I like the sound of the big engine! I wish my Husqvarna PZ72 had that engine, it has the Kohler 31hp EFI engine on it. For the most part it handled the near waist high grass well with some lay down but not much at all. I couldn’t justify a $16k mower now though with just the 30 or so mostly large rural lawns I mow up here in the sticks of NW Wisconsin. PS don’t you hate mowing wet grass but it sounds like you didn’t have much of choice with your rains you’ve had.
Nice video. Nice interview. I found myself yearning for more information on the steering wheel/turning/transmission workings though. Not sure if it's hydro driven or not. It seemed you were putting a whole lot of movement into the wheel to get turned around, even driving it like a tractor at some point to get turned around (making a 'P' cut at the end of the row). Good job
Get some Kavli blades. There's a web guy that used them on a small push mower and cuts thigh high grass like it's only two inches high... bagger, side-throw, and MULCHING! Mower doesn't even bog, nevermind stalling. His Scag does near head-high grass -- only 2 passes -- with those blades (KAVLI) and the SCAG laughs at the grass and thick brush! Awesome blades. Hey, I never saw a zero-turn mower with a steering wheel. That's kinda' cool!
Do they have any for testing in the San Antonio area. I would love to test drive one on the yard that I cut. Anywhere from 1/2 to 3 acre properties that are about two to three feet high.
I have a z force 54" I mowed a field thicker and taller than that this morning. The z force is the highest level of residential. I have 450hrs of hard use around horse pastures, wooded, and yard.
My 2007 zero turn cub cadet with a 42 inch deck would cut that easy. And, my new 2019 cub cadet 60 inch zero turn would as well. First cut it high as the mowers will go and wait for about 2-3 hours, give it time to dry out a bit, and cut it again. I have cut grass over knee high with my two cubs and neither one bogged, clogged, or quit one time. Awesome mowers!
brett stevens thank you..... No offense to the sales rep. But I can’t stand listening to sales reps try and sell you on how great their product is. Because nine times out of 10 I don’t believe half of the stuff coming out of their mouth
I have the cub cadet xt1 it's mowes 2 to 4 ft grass . I don't even have the throttle but half way had it about 5 or more years . Changed the oil and grease it . Never had any problems with it
Best way to mow tall grass is to either go really slow on the first pass then do a double and maybe a triple cut. ORRRR, jack it up on the first pass, maybe double cut, then put it down by a couple notches and double cut again, repeat till done.
Looks extreme I see a few channels are testing these right now so good to see if you like it. Allot of thought has gone into this mower I run a Ferris and I'll say that they have listened allot and very impressive so I'm excited to hear how it works out. Brian see if you can try the bar version 972L single wheel I know it's being used on another channel right now but I think you may find that model fits your new business model better.
I owned a rztl -50 untill about four hours ago the only issue I had where they have their oil drain plastic connecter vibrated open, causing all the oil to leak out of the engine and then big big bang seized up my engine. It was only a 2018 model was not impressed, but I’ve been a cub guy for a while mainly because of their warranty. I just bought today the ZT2 -50 I did notice they had changed the oil draining much better design. I’ve only driven it to cut my postage stamp of a front yard But I will say drove very nice. I will find out next week what I really think of it and don’t worry I won’t pull punches.
Definitely surprised it was able to cut that . I have a old toro grandstand and I mow up to 6 foot tall fields with that thing . After looking around for a new mower in my opinion toro and scag or the spartan are the best bang for your buck. Good demo tho very surprised lol. Happy mowing
Hi, to be doing these sort of properties up to 10 acres with the occasional hilly block. Would you suggest the pro z 900? Sherpa or a higher powered zero turn such as graveley pro turn? Thanks
farmers have been using duels for years the cub that comes to mind that the factory says it learnd from is the harvester 154 cub lowboy that is now known as the classic series that partical model was believe it or not classified as a tractor
You're right, but I don't think it's intended for use where lines are really noticed....looks like for rough work...too big for a well maintained lawn where it wold matter

That it still runs with zero mechanical issues is pretty impressive to me (having hiked the governor to the point where I called it the "turbo cub".)
No candle to my old ariens classic 21, but still it made some money and got me some exercise.
Well I own three and they will cut anything you can drive through! Might have to make a second pass but it does one heck of a job. Maintenance is a breeze and all mowing looks great!
Damn Cub cadet done stepped their game up
I tested this on a 30* plus slope for our dam contracts and you all would be surprised. It can do 70% of what our ventrac 4500s do.
You won't find a better mower than Cub Cadet, and we've tried them all. It will take anything you throw at it
I have a cub cadet & it's a beast.
OH MANNY!!!THE MOTHER OF ALL MOWERS!!!
Looks like a great mower seems to be doing great in that tall grass
Cub cadet are the best out of all commercial mowers and I don't care think what people think about cub cadet there excellent mower's
When my mom and dad lived on 3 1/2 acres, 3-blade 1968 cub cadet was the only thing to cut the yard. (Push mower around alot of trees!)
I really like those back tires !!!
Does it have a bagger? Cutting looks great. Will you drop the deck and do a second shorter pass?
Have you ever tryed gator blades? there bad ass mulching blades they last longer and stay sharper check them out youll like them !
Isn't John Deere the parent company of Cub Cadet (to my understanding)? How heavy is that heifer? Doesn't look lite for REALLY wet lawns or near standing water yards.
No, MTD products en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cub_Cadet
I like the sound of the big engine! I wish my Husqvarna PZ72 had that engine, it has the Kohler 31hp EFI engine on it. For the most part it handled the near waist high grass well with some lay down but not much at all. I couldn’t justify a $16k mower now though with just the 30 or so mostly large rural lawns I mow up here in the sticks of NW Wisconsin. PS don’t you hate mowing wet grass but it sounds like you didn’t have much of choice with your rains you’ve had.
I had thought this might have been a great mower for the hwy. overpass propertys you were doing last year.
Man, what a fine cut in this very tall wet grass!!!!
I would like to see a comparison of it and the Scag together in the same wet tall grass
Exmark and Ferris as well as the Scag
Love the steering wheel option
I have a z force 54" I mowed a field thicker and taller than that this morning. The z force is the highest level of residential. I have 450hrs of hard use around horse pastures, wooded, and yard.
My 2007 zero turn cub cadet with a 42 inch deck would cut that easy. And, my new 2019 cub cadet 60 inch zero turn would as well. First cut it high as the mowers will go and wait for about 2-3 hours, give it time to dry out a bit, and cut it again. I have cut grass over knee high with my two cubs and neither one bogged, clogged, or quit one time. Awesome mowers!
skip to 20 min mark that's when he actually starts cutting.
brett stevens thank you..... No offense to the sales rep. But I can’t stand listening to sales reps try and sell you on how great their product is. Because nine times out of 10 I don’t believe half of the stuff coming out of their mouth
He cuts a bit slow. I've seen cub cadets mowing way faster. I guess he's just getting acquainted.
Good information though
15:30
Átila did u see how wet the grass was plus being tall
Átila ok mkj
Only thing I dont like is the dual rear tires. They leave ruts compared to one large tire. Maybe even in wet areas, tracks would fit?
I've used duallys before and with this big of deck they are great. Less scalping and better on hills.
if i was a millionaire i would be able to justify this mower :) looks and sounds fantastic
That’s insane would love to get a chance to try this mower out looks like a tank
I have the cub cadet xt1 it's mowes 2 to 4 ft grass . I don't even have the throttle but half way had it about 5 or more years . Changed the oil and grease it . Never had any problems with it
Good video. What would you recommend for a flat , unobstructed 10 acre property? If you could give me your top 3, I’m looking to buy ASAP.
You sold me that machine already when you said about ,when the wheel drops the curbside
Been running cab cadet for 13 years....getting a pro z next year
Cadets are, ight duty mowers need a lot of up keep if used a lot
Best way to mow tall grass is to either go really slow on the first pass then do a double and maybe a triple cut. ORRRR, jack it up on the first pass, maybe double cut, then put it down by a couple notches and double cut again, repeat till done.
hey Brian could you do a demo on a toro Mowers ?
Looks extreme I see a few channels are testing these right now so good to see if you like it. Allot of thought has gone into this mower I run a Ferris and I'll say that they have listened allot and very impressive so I'm excited to hear how it works out. Brian see if you can try the bar version 972L single wheel I know it's being used on another channel right now but I think you may find that model fits your new business model better.
Great video Brian, now that is how you do a review! I am not a fan on zero turns with a Steering wheel! Cub cadet mowers came a long way!
@29:00 I was actually blown away at how well it did in the second pass as wet as it was and how tall that stuff was.
First pass looks good. Nice mower
Hi, to be doing these sort of properties up to 10 acres with the occasional hilly block. Would you suggest the pro z 900? Sherpa or a higher powered zero turn such as graveley pro turn? Thanks
That shadow does a pretty darn good taking pictures😉
Nice mower, cuts through like butter. Look at that water spray, not clogging at all?
Hmmm ... s0ww knoww . I kinda curious br0.. how much does that Mower cost .. if i wuzz thinking 0f getting myself one in the future 🤔
Why lower the roll bar, in the last segment? Just when on a slope where you might need it?
farmers have been using duels for years the cub that comes to mind that the factory says it learnd from is the harvester 154 cub lowboy that is now known as the classic series that partical model was believe it or not classified as a tractor
The 4 tires in the back, make ugly lines on the lawn.
Andrey Ivanov the mower looks like Henry J. Waternoose from Monsters Inc in the back.
You're right, but I don't think it's intended for use where lines are really noticed....looks like for rough work...too big for a well maintained lawn where it wold matter
Holy Crap!!! That is Tractor Trailer sized Mower.... :)
