  • The Honda CRF150F is a great dirtbike, designed more for trail riding and fun than for motocross racing. The Honda CRF150F makes enough power for fun in the dirt, and it is very easy and cheap to maintain, and because it isn't a racing engine, it will run forever. The engine is overbuilt and under-stressed, and very reliable, which makes the Honda CRF150F great for long trail rides. The 2.1 gallon tank will give you 100 miles of range, which is plenty for a day of fun in the dirt.
    The CRF150F makes close to 12 horsepower, a top speed over 50 mph, and a 32-inch seat height, which means it is big enough and strong enough to be a great dirtbike for a full-grown adult as well as a teenage kid.

    I do own this motorcycle, it's amazing how reliable and durable it is. It's perfect for a teenager due to low seat height, low weight and simplicity.

    We got this bike 5 years ago , new but 2008: It has proved to be dependable and well balanced. My kid was just about to be 13, about 110 pounds. Fast forward 5 years: he's 17 and 19.....he still loves the bike (OK.....he's obsessed) and we are planning to get something bigger (mostly because of his weight). The has been ridden a lot for five years and it has proved to be an excellent bike and I would buy another.

      Luke reilly They are great machines, designed to run forever. The same bike, with lights and instruments, is sold in South America to people who ride them every day all year round. That being said, at some point the rider gets too big or decides they want a pure race bike. When my son reaches that point, we'll get a faster bike, but we'll still keep this one. It's just too good to get rid of.

    I am 6'1 and almost 165 lbs, and I absolutely love my 2016 150f. I might be a little big for it but that doesn't change anything! I love ride it around my yard as well as take long journeys through the woods, and it is perfect for both. May not be as fast as a 150r, but a 150r will never beat the 150f on trail riding, all terrain riding, mudding, etc. Overall amazing bike!

    ok for everyone wondering which bike would be best for them, i made a chart
    -80/85cc two stroke or 150 four stroke: inexperienced/ experience rider (4'9 to 5'5)
    -125cc two stroke or 250 four stroke: experienced rider (5'6 min and taller) if youre inexperienced, go for the 80/85 two stroke or 150 four stroke, it will save youre ass from killing yourself
    -250cc two stroke or 450 four stroke : (same as 125cc two stroke or 250 four stroke)
    if youre wondering, im 5'6 1/2 with an RM125 (2 stroke) and yz250f (4 stroke), i also have 2 pit bikes. (a ttr125l [4 stroke] and a crf150f [4 stroke])

    Thanks for the review! It was very helpful. I just sold my CRF150RB and purchased a 2006 CRF150F (electric start) and think that it should be great for trail riding. I am 5'5" and the seat height is perfect for me. The F is about 50-60 # heavier than the RB, but I can pick it up without a problem. The RB loves to go fast and so it has a predilection to stall at the slower speeds one typically uses on technical trails. (Plus, the stock RB is not legal to ride anywhere but on a track because of the high db and lack of spark arrestor.) So, even though the F suspension is a couple inches lower, I think that the much mellower power and the electric start are going to be awesome for my uses.
    Update: I have been out trail riding several times now and I am loving the F. The longer wheelbase gives me a less cramped "cockpit" and allows me to use a less aggressive riding position. It also allows for MUCH better stability while standing when I'm riding the technical terrain. The only downsides so far: (a) heavier weight makes me more prone to lock up the rear tire on steep downgrades (my solution has been to just use more front brake and I've experienced no "stoppies". .. yet) and (b) the lack of power to climb steep hills. (The RB never failed me in this regard.) Maybe a tooth added to the rear will give me a bit more "grunt" in 1st and 2nd...?
    One more thing... The stock suspension is quite mushy for anyone who is over 125 pounds or who is a more aggressive rider. Solution: BBR Motorsports sells fork springs for $100 and shock springs (30% stiffer) for $120.

    I ride a crf 150f when I go out with my grandfather and the rear shock and springs in the forks are to soft for me, it becomes really uncomfortable to use on long trail rides but other than that it is really reliable like the ttr 230 I ride at my dads house every day. However when you said you only have to change the oil once a year I started cracking up, you got to change it every 5-10 hours of ride time on most bikes, and for me that's about 1 week of riding every day for about 2 hours a day.

      @discipleshadow9496 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theyeetus1428 As I originally stated "every 5-10 hours of ride time on **most bikes**" This can vary depending on how often you ride, how hard you ride, and the environment you ride in. This is the time that is recommended that you change the oil for any dirt bike. and a 5-10 hour ride is probably average for most trail riders, so it would be changing the oil just about every ride. If you don't change your oil as frequently, your clutch may start slipping as the plates start to stick/ not move as smoothly due to the oil thickening up, and it will be more noticably harder to change gears, as the oil also lubricates the transmission. But what would I know, iv only been riding dirt bikes my entire life and have worked on them multiple times, and have a burning passion for dirt bikes.

If you want to go racing, it isn't fast enough and doesn't have the best suspension, but for general off road fun and reliability you can't beat it. I’m 5,8 and about 135. I’m also disabled (right leg/foot) I cant use my right leg or foot. No nerves from knee down. Called drop foot. Can’t even use the rear brake. So while I am an adult and had a Yamaha 250 back in 93 , I don’t have the balance to move dead weight. So I wanted a bike , but not a full size bike in case I have to push it or something happens like that. I can’t muscle it because I’m disabled. I started researching the Honda 150. Originally I wanted the 150r. However my wallet didn’t lol. My budget was like $1500-$1800 and a descent R model in NJ /NY area is like 5-600$ more than what I was spending. So I went with the 150f. Got great reviews and great reviews against the 150r as well. I watched a video where the compared the 2 bikes side by side like. And basically said the f is great for what I’ll be doing. Trails and stuff. However, a couple upgrades and she can be track worthy for sure. Love this bike and grateful that I can ride at all 😎

      That depends on what you want to do and where you want to go. This bike is good for general purpose off-road trail riding. The suspension isn’t as good as a race bike. If I’m on my own and just cruising around off-road, it is great. But when I’ve tried to find follow people on new 250 and 450 motocross bikes, it is really hard to keep up.

    @sideskraft 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is anyone making a low seat height dirt/trail bike with good power (125+cc 2 stroke or 250+cc 4 stroke)? I think everything made these days has motocross type suspension which is way overkill for the trails and only raises the center of gravity to make it less fun in the tight stuff. I'll probably end up coming across a decent mid-late 70s mxer, but good ones are fetching pretty big prices these days.

    • @hoohoohoblin
      @hoohoohoblin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +sideskraft that is a good question. I don’t think so. I think even short guys get used to riding tall bikes because they need the extra suspension to suck up the bumps
      . I know that you can lower the forks in the triple trees to lower the front end of the bike, and there is probably something you can do to lower the back end as well, but it would change the steering geometry.
