THANKS ALOT I DONT PLAY AS WELL AS I USED TO BUT DID RECORD ANOTHER VERSION OF NEW YORK RECENTLY . I WILL TRY TO UPLOAD IT IN THE FUTURE. THERE WAS NOTHING BETTER THAN BEING AT YANKEE STADIUM IN THE 80s and 90s. I continue to perform the Eddie Layton - Bob Sheppard impersonation for local leagues in my city ( past 27 years) Its my way of paying triibute and keeping the memories alive. My desktop wall paper is the renovated Yankee Stadium from the 90s. Miss it every day .
I was always hoping that a REALLY GOOD Bob Shephard impersonator, like you, and like SF Giants broadcaster Jon Miller. would announce at the new stadium, just to bring back the sounds and tradition of the old ballpark. And playing the organ the way Eddie Layton did would bring back the experience even more. It would totally freak out the people attending the game, making them think Bob Shephard and Eddie Layton came back to life again.
This for me takes me back to the mid-late 90's. My dad and I would get off the train at River Ave and it would already have that wonderful feel around the outside of the stadium. Go though gate 6, and take the ramp all the way up to the tier level. Walk out of the tunnel and there it all is. The music playing, the sun going down, as the grounds crew rakes and waters the infield. You knew the Yankees were probably gonna win. A little while later the first few players would trickle out down the RF line to stretch. O'Neill, Bernie, Tino, and Jeter. Such great times. I miss the old stadium so bad.
+Ben Stephenson My first ever Yankee game was in 1997 against the Seattle Mariners. The Yankees ended up losing but that was the first time I heard Bob Sheppard's voice. There was always something special about it in my mind.
Phil Rizutto, Bill White, and Frank Messer. Those are voices that I miss. Bill White had a great voice for baseball. He was the one that was calling the game at the time Bucky Dent hit that homerun in Boston back in 78. Those were great rivalries back then. That's when both teams had real men on the team. I'm a Yankee fan but congrats to Jim Rice for making the Hall Of Fame. He deserves to be in there. So does Ron Guidry, Graig Nettles, and Paul O'neil.
Jesus Christ.........I'm getting chills throughout my body as I watch this video and it takes me a lot to get them. So many great and wonderful memories from the old stadium. I wish the old stadium was back and they knock down what they have there now. I see the day coming soon where they will have robots as umpires and I don't want to be in this world when this happens. Great video and be safe. Thank you.

Chris - great work! I would love to hear more. What great memories of the old Yankee Stadium going there as a kid. Walking out the stadium runway and then seeing the green grass, then hearing Eddie Layton play. It is just as well Bob Sheppard and Eddie Layton are not associated with the new yankee stadium.
Sounds like my first time at the stadium 1979 Tommy John’s debut first game and he beat the Brewers with help from the Goose picking up his first save that year. I got to see Munson, Jackson, Nettles and had a great time!
I cannot stop watching video. I can close eyes and see the grounds crew raking out the diamond and watering the infield. Too bad the Yankees had to throw away 80+ years of wonderful tradition all in the name of the half-ass Audi club, cigar bars, etc.
