He gives you speed so you can see how horrifyingly fast he's capable of moving without instantly killing you, giving you time to feel the absolute fear.
So is the teleporting you? since its an ai that is made to scare you, thats a pretty cool technique
That just means it’s toying with you, absolutely chilling.
I actually think the bot does it more often bc he dies when it happens. it learnt from past behaviour and realised its one of the best ways to kill

He's a psychopath. That's why he does so weird things. He likes to toy with his victims. And I can tell you there's no better way to catch your prey other than playing a little so you confuse them and giving them false hope they will get out alive. That's pretty much what this nextbot does

Seeing these advanced Nextbots makes me feel annoyed but also impressed and hopeful.
Annoyed because it’s another 2D Nextbot.
Hopeful and impressed because of the AI put into it. It’s only a matter of time before someone decides to make their own intelligent AI like this and put it into a Nextbot that isn’t a PNG.
Imagine what could be possible at this point. Extremely advanced Combine, terrifying horror entities that are smart, etc. Imagine what people like JustResort or Joelías could do with something like this in the future.

Combine on their own are already pretty advanced, search up like.. combine AI vr combine with stalker AI, or something like that, in the first part it showcases the combine AI and it shows you how advanced they are with the rigth enviroment
honnestly if you're mad because it's a PNG you can just see with the mod creator to get the code and reuse it along with a reactive 3D model
i have nothing against PNG nextbots, they kinda got to my heart, but seeing a fully fonctionnal and very intelligent NPC would be so cool i can't deny
the only thing i find stupid about Nextbots is them being unkillable, that would be so much better if there was a way to give us hope and try to fight back

Crazy idea for an AI to learn from you: AI chases you, you loop around the corner and turn around to see if you’re still being chased. The AI will remain hidden around the corner to see if the player continues running or gets curious and checks around the corner to see if it’s still there.

Probably works similar to how alien isolation's learning does so it's not something new but it is still impressive

Ok, lore idea. This thing was created by someone, to get rid of things like Mingebags or hackers. Studying them to learn how to combat them best. But eventually it started to see everyone like that due to it seeing mods as hacking, and so it started to hunt them down too.
The lore is more about a personal hell for the player, but that version you have is not ruled out.

I love the Smart Nextbots the stalk you and learn about you like this one and The Terminator Nextbot. I am not a fan of 2D Nextbots, though. Nextbots in general, I have mixed feeling about. When done well, they are really good, but there are so many terrible ones on the workshop.
Thank you for releasing different types of videos about many different mods.
Having a full horror game with this type of AI would be a lot of fun. Having the villain be able to adapt and manipulate your game to make interactions with it so much more tense. Would be a cool concept to see implemented!

I think the reason he was making you faster and healing you may be because he likes te thrill of the hunt. It wouldn't be very fun for him if he could just kill you instantly, so he makes it more challenging for himself. Unless you "cheat" by bee hopping, in which case he'll just kill you.

Honestly next bots put me to sleep, A single person running around a map with no objectives with a PNG chasing them... oooo scary. There's no tension or fear other than what you make it to be. Honestly the only thing I can see these NextBots really being is a challenge. See how long you can survive with a specific NextBot on a map and post the time.
I love how it mock chases you to see what you do.

what makes it better is that, it used one of those AI faces thing you see in movies that would do bad stuff to humans, and this thing just toying with us, while studying our every moves.

I made a mistake and played with this NPC on a mineshaft map (Wild West MineS) using VRMod (lets you play gmod in full VR). Kept hearing the damn thing above or behind me but couldn't see it, left me alone for about 5 minutes so told myself it couldn't use the navmash (or it was missing) on the map. Was going down a tunnel that required me to push a cart, suddenly I heard the whispering really loud, turn around and it was right behind me. I think I took 10 years off my life...

It giving you speed is probably because when you both go really fast that means you have to react really fast and turn really fast and everything becomes fast paced. That’s terrifying for me.

I wish someone would make these advanced things with nextbot's api for normal npcs like it was originally for
atleast tons of maps get free nav meshes because of the trend
it doesn't always kill you cus it wants to see how you react. especially how you react to it toying with you.
I think I know what this speed is all about, usually when you run away from nextbots even your default speed is enough if you can bunny hop, this nextbot will sometimes increase your speed, making you feel almost "invincible" cause now you can easily run away, but it will also increase it's own speed, so when you look back and expect to see him far far away and he's right there you get scared af
I wish they made a nextbot that took your playermodel and mimicked your movements, like a replica of your past self, until you cross paths and it starts chasing you to kill you once more.

I have to wonder how this Nextbot interacts with mods like the Dishonored powers or Prototype sweps because one gives you magical powers for teleporting with blink or freezing time itself while the other gives you super speed and super jump as passives.
What if you just chill can move around. Will he be like "lets chill" and bring you a bottle of coke?

HE EVEN EDITS THE NPCS AND DISABLES YOUR ITEMS IF YOU TRY TO USE THEM.
Ngl I tested this in a map (idk which one) I went on the bridge and suddenly he went in the water below the bridge? But when I got out of the bridge... he definitely wanted to play tag.
you should use some kind of npc status tool, like Drvej's base comes with one and it prints npc state into the console, it would be interesting to see if this one has any unique states.
