In 2019, when the Jewish community came out to boycott Labour, they were applauded. Now the Muslim community do the same thing because of the comments made by Kier Starmer, its suddenly a problem.

He forgot to mention Kier Starmers comments about cutting off water, food and electricity to 2 millions Gazans. He also forgot to mention that he stood in a mosque and called members of our community illiterate. Yet here he is calling it all a conspiracy.

As a constituent of Perry Barr, this clown hadn't served us in his 20 years. So his lack of effort killed his campaign. Putting Gaza aside, he did nothing for Perry Barr so when it came to a policy for which his party was on the wrong side of, no one came out to back him.

    Dear Khalid
I have lived in the constituency that you represent for 7 years and I have no idea what actual good you have done for the area. As someone who tends to vote Labour at general election, I could not bring myself to vote for you, however desperately I wanted conservatives out. My vote went to your successor, not because of any Gaza agenda, but because you appear rude, arrogant and entitled.

What a bitter interview. Instead of congratulating the winner he started rambling about excuses. You may claim to have done a lot for the cause of Palestinians but the people didn't think you did enough - right now there are so many still dying over there. The Perry Barr constituency is a mess.

You’d think Times Radio would offer a contrary view for balance or in an attempt at proper journalism. No, they decided to run a puff piece for poor old Khalid who lost his seat. The nasty voters were “blackmailed” into voting him out because Khalid had an entitlement to be elected after 24 years.
I venture to say that after 24 years, his constituency was the better judge of whether he should be kicked out or not. Given that he was the only MP in Birmingham kicked out in favour of an independent, I’d suggest that this was more to do with “anyone but Khalid” than Gaza.

They were not ‘pro Palestine’ candidates, they were ‘anti-Genocide’ candidates and when it really mattered in Parliament, many of those Labour MP’s including Mahmood abstained . The final nail in the coffin for Mahmood was when he called his own potential supporters ‘ignorant’. Shame Times News does not investigate and provide context or asked the voters why there were voting against Starmer and Labour.

I find your commentary racist and bigoted . Khalid is an individual who presided in Birmingham as a Labour MP and was never to be seen, similarly to his counterpart Shabana Mahmood. Jess Philips has more of a grass root following than these 2 and the frustration is more than just Gaza, however a plethora of issues which we face in the Ghettos of Birmingham. Regardless, your commentator sums it up in his language "What do THESE PEOPLE want?" ! Are we not your equals and counterparts in British society? Do we not contribute as doctors, engineers, lawyers, Barristers, chefs etc in society ? The Current MP won because he is a standing Councillors as part of the LibDems who decided to go Independent. He has a grass root following and a very well spoken and highly educated Barrister . Actually Ayub Khan was first elected as a Liberal Democrat Councillor in the Aston ward in Birmingham in 2003.

It is extremely concerning that whenever there is a moderate Muslim in British public life, his own community always destroys them and is more content with extremists representing them instead.
Moderate Muslims in the the UK are the real minorities, and it is the Islamists and extremists who truly represent the British Muslim community. You never see major backlash from the community over how the Islamists behaved during the cancelled film screening, the Batley grammar school incident, the numerous attempted terror attacks, the numerous hateful imams preaching division etc. - it is only the more secular Muslims in the UK who are treated harshly by others in the community.

@@harriskhan4604 Considering Muslims in the UK are the most likely to be on benefits, most likely to live in council housing, least likely to work and those in work are the most likely to be in low-paid unskilled labour - I very much doubt Muslims pay nearly enough, if any, tax. The disproportionate number of Muslims in our prisons, the drug crimes you lot commit and of course, the amount of spending on security services now necessary because of jihadist tendencies and lack of respect for borders means the government has to spend far more money on your community.
Across Europe, Muslims only think about what they can take from society and never what they can contribute. Any charity they give is only for the ummah, and not for the general public good.
There is a reason why there is a universal backlash towards them. Everyone should be concerned that Muslims are silent over extremists representing them and the internal suppression of moderate Muslim voices.
