Something that works for me is grouping a single tank to a squad of infantry and setting them to "slow" movement and have them advance in a formation of 2-4 tank squads supported by mechanised mortars or SP light artillery like the wespe. Preferably I use close-combat infantry with lots of SMGs like the Jäger squad attached to a medium or heavy tank. Then I use a recon squad like Aufklärer with light tanks/armoured cars like the Panzer 2 Auf. L or Sdkfz 232 to screen my main attack force or to flank depending on the terrain, enemy positions, and enemy reinforcement direction. If I use a lot of medium tanks then I tend to support them with some light or medium tank destroyers like the Marder 2/3 and SP support guns like the StuH or Grille. I usually bring a heavy tank or two but it depends on if I can be bothered to micro more tanks on annoying maps, or just focus on expensive but highly effective small groups of hyper-lethal heavy tanks. On defense I find that quality is always more valuable to an extent, so I tend to ditch my heavy tanks and just bring in loads of Panzer 4s with their long guns, supported by tank destroyers, artillery, mortars, and SP guns. I use infantry only to build a defensive line, with more long-range rifles so I never use Jägers. Veteran rifle squads and rifle squads are useful for just laying down a high volume of fire at distance to stop the enemy infantry advancing, while my tanks can do the bulk of the killing safely behind my line of infantry. I still bring in my Aufklärer recon just for the extra line of sight so my long range units can get some shots off, but I usually have a formation of trench lines with a trench in the middle with my Aufklärer, supported by rifle squads on the left and right in 2 additional trenches. 2 rifle squads+recon in 3 trenches per defensive point tends to be effective enough at holding the enemy away. If I use light tanks, they will be safely tucked away in dense trees or urban environments to protect the flanks or plug gaps where infantry tend to break through. Then my medium and heavy tanks are integrated into the main defensive line. So far I've never lost a match on the hardest difficulty.
Great video! Really well explained. I'm currently having a blast playing through the USSR Skirmish mission list and enjoying using the late war units in the last mission. They aren't something I've used much because I haven't gotten to that stage in Conquest yet.
23:09 I just look at where most AI defenses are and get a general idea from there the more defenses the higher the chance they might come from there, this is from experience don't know if its true but I never had a problem with it
Officers are excellent, they are a must for fog of war, but even without they will spot enemy units so that nearby units can react and shoot them on even if they are not in their line of sight. I often find my tanks or cannons pointed somewhere and not spotting enemy units even when they get in range, so an officer prevent that from happening, but make sure he is using his binocular and not the smg
you play conquest enhanced? It's very diffrent from basic game, if you want to do the offensive battles perfect you need to use officer with binoculars or/and recon squads to correctly adjust artillery fire. Air recon is also great but whatever you do if you encounter AT by suprise you are alredy in bad situation and in equal enviroment (like in conquest enhanced) AT will one-shot every tank you will throw at them, thats what they are designed for. Only disadvantage of AT guns is mobility and you need to punish that with artillery/air strikes/infantry :)
@@Tilk2 yes I play conquest enhanced. Indeed, I have had to make more extensive use of officers and artillery then what I'm used to. Infantry are also much more vulnerable. I like the challenge though but can get frustrating at times. I'm not seeing option in my research tree for off-map support. I think i may have a mod conflict.
@@colderthermite Officer is only for spotting. You look through binos to clear up fog of war. Press key to activate binos and another (T for me) to go into birds eye view. Once you've spotted select arty and target area.
Hey bro I like your video!!! I was wondering if you are interested in making a collaboration with me playing Call to Arms online. If you are let me know👍🏼
I like your video but it is wildly inaccurate relative to WWII realities. Of course this is a game and you can play it any way you choose, but a more authentic approach would see a hodgepodge of units in the late war period. Yes, using more infantry is trying, especially on hard and above settings (both battle AI and economy) but it makes it quite satisfying when you can optimize your units' capabilities while capitalizing on the enemy's vulnerabilities.
I concur. Just spawning the best stuff gets boring quickly. I actually restrain myself and try to use units similarly to doctrines in multiplayer, it's much more fun to take out the enemy using just basic stuff and a few elite units
Too much micro management. Soldiers do nothing well during AI, that makes the game very tiring. I have 640 hours on this game and it does not gets better

When you want to now where the enemy is coming from look where your mg’s of the defence force point at. This is most of the time where they come from.

I am excited to make my next video on the USSR. They are absolute beasts late game in skirmish and conquest.
@@epicpwnd1014 Just to let you know that in German, the "J" in Jagdtiger is pronounced as a Y sound. and tiger is said te-ger .

Great videos! Thanks for taking the time!
33:13 If you had APCR rounds you could shoot through the building but those tanks dont have any.
I use air strikes to move tanks into firing arc's to gain the advantage.
Nice vid, control group for arty is nice tho. Just pressing 1instead of selecting all 3 ever time.
Yes i thought the same!
Hi, I started to play this game now, how do you know the battle will be offensive or defensive? Thanks
Plz make an other tuto on URSS and Swedich.
Remember you can keyban with shift + number, that way it's more easy with your artillery.
are you gonna make videos for the russians ?
What are the officers for? Why do people always bring them?
this
I believe the Officer is supposed to have binoculars that help clear up the fog of war.
Mathew is right, you can use the attack ground order to make them always look on a certain position and clear FOW

So there's 0 point using one if you have fog of war turned off?@@matthewwade4196
Great video, what do you recommend when you encounter heavier AT guns during offensive battles?

how can we use artillery fire with officer? I mean, just use binoculars and press a button?

Well done very good reaction! Maybe a hot key video might be good? 🏴
great video thanks bro😍😍😍
Nice video. Thx.
What are your thoughts on heavy Pz.I
What is your go to tank busting unit for the Germans?
great vid, thx
you had a ton of good units , and the comp just 15 militia?
