This is my first video in my series which gives a good starting point on your first dynamic campaign. If you are like me, I struggled to understand this amazingly intricate and difficult game. I made this guide to hopefully help you learn the flow of this game and get off to a good start.
Hi, I started to play this game now, how do you know the battle will be offensive or defensive? Thanks
When you’re building your team and Collins, the far left box is all of the available units. The far right box is what you were deploying in each call sign, what the hell is the middle box for?
Im only learning myself but it seems that the middle is where your units go after battle to be resupplied and anything else you capture appears here. Basically it is where your veteran units go after the battle.
The learning curve was pretty steep, but now that I figured it out this game really shines!
Hardest thing I am struggling with is manually clicking every unit on the battlefield to try to find the one with an AT gun or a bazooka. There has to be an easy way for this? When a tank is approaching and you have four squads in an area, how the hell do you quickly locate the AT crew?
you can assign units to a shortcuts by selecting the troops and pressing SHIFT + NUMBER . Say that you pressed SHIFT + 1, you will be able to select that unit by just pressing 1 in the future
You can try use the symbols on the left of the screen. I use this to select the officer mostly.
@@aaron1182 yeah I’ve been highlighting units and if I score a batch with tank nades I examine their inventory. But still a struggle. I think I’m gonna Id him at the beginning and hot key him
Strangely enough, I actually prefer fog of war. It helps me orient myself and know exactly where I’m looking.
I really don't understand why you don't show the value of recon infantry by still playing with fog of war deactivted. Play it seriously to show newbees how it really works. The 30 cm german rocket launcher is slow in reloading, yes but to wipe out almost whole enemy strongholds its absolute ideal. When I shoot into an stronghold I mostly see enemy losses of about 30 dead soldiers poping up. Is that nothing?
Awesome vid...gonna study the rest...Thanks!!
I use air strikes to move tanks into firing arc's to gain the advantage.
Good job with the tutorial! Only thing that could make this video better is timestamps. If you ever need any help or advice feel free reach out!
Great guide thanks! But i have an MSI laptop and i am unable to pause the game or use the keyboard actually. Dont really know how to fix that :/
Good video. Funny tho that you say at the start you will try to keep it short. Tbh just speaks to that there is no short way to explain this game.
Nice video. Thx.
I keep accidentally recruiting units at the beginning and having to restart because you can't sell them back for the same amount as far as I can tell even if you don't start the phase. I also didn't know how the phases worked and was trying to play every battle with just my initial call-ins, which was super challenging when they started bringing in bombers and wiping my squads. I've also been playing over a hundred hours and just thought esc paused the game this whole time and couldn't figure out how my units were using so much ammo.
Hey bro I like your video!!! I was wondering if you are interested in making a collaboration with me playing Call to Arms online. If you are let me know👍🏼
12:00 Another strange behaviour, why, when pressing the ESC or Pause key during a game doubles the FPS making the graphics card overheat, only when returning back to the game the FPS goes to normal and the graphics card cools again.
i think the star difficulty is more the level of reinforcements the enemy calls in than the already set defences, which sowly increase similarly to how you can purchase small-large defences.
Something that works for me is grouping a single tank to a squad of infantry and setting them to "slow" movement and have them advance in a formation of 2-4 tank squads supported by mechanised mortars or SP light artillery like the wespe. Preferably I use close-combat infantry with lots of SMGs like the Jäger squad attached to a medium or heavy tank. Then I use a recon squad like Aufklärer with light tanks/armoured cars like the Panzer 2 Auf. L or Sdkfz 232 to screen my main attack force or to flank depending on the terrain, enemy positions, and enemy reinforcement direction. If I use a lot of medium tanks then I tend to support them with some light or medium tank destroyers like the Marder 2/3 and SP support guns like the StuH or Grille. I usually bring a heavy tank or two but it depends on if I can be bothered to micro more tanks on annoying maps, or just focus on expensive but highly effective small groups of hyper-lethal heavy tanks. On defense I find that quality is always more valuable to an extent, so I tend to ditch my heavy tanks and just bring in loads of Panzer 4s with their long guns, supported by tank destroyers, artillery, mortars, and SP guns. I use infantry only to build a defensive line, with more long-range rifles so I never use Jägers. Veteran rifle squads and rifle squads are useful for just laying down a high volume of fire at distance to stop the enemy infantry advancing, while my tanks can do the bulk of the killing safely behind my line of infantry. I still bring in my Aufklärer recon just for the extra line of sight so my long range units can get some shots off, but I usually have a formation of trench lines with a trench in the middle with my Aufklärer, supported by rifle squads on the left and right in 2 additional trenches. 2 rifle squads+recon in 3 trenches per defensive point tends to be effective enough at holding the enemy away. If I use light tanks, they will be safely tucked away in dense trees or urban environments to protect the flanks or plug gaps where infantry tend to break through. Then my medium and heavy tanks are integrated into the main defensive line. So far I've never lost a match on the hardest difficulty.
Great videos! Thanks for taking the time!
great vid, thx
Great commentary, funny and very authentic!
Very good video, detailed and informative, good job :)
The point made about the enemy not running out of reinforcements, is this still the case?
Thanks for this guide mate. I’m a casual and only play games while I work offshore, and was even struggling on easy with fog ‘off’. So it’s been very helpful, and easy to follow. Subbed
Its called CONQUEST not campaign.
Great job quickly adapting to those unexpected situations.
Unless it's on fire or completely wrecked then anything on the battlefield can be repaired first and recrewed. Either sell or keep these handy spoils. Same goes for guns, equipment etc. If you can't crew it at first it's usually still repairable. This is essential when playing on harder levels or with certain mods.
Best thing about these devs and this game, apart from all the cool mods is that probably all the issues you've had with it so far have subsequently been fixed.
I'm godlike at this game yet this was still nice to watch. Subbing a no brainer. Great work.
Too much micro management. Soldiers do nothing well during AI, that makes the game very tiring. I have 640 hours on this game and it does not gets better
It does too gets better 🤤maybe you needs gets betters?
Go play Company of heroes then
I like your video but it is wildly inaccurate relative to WWII realities. Of course this is a game and you can play it any way you choose, but a more authentic approach would see a hodgepodge of units in the late war period. Yes, using more infantry is trying, especially on hard and above settings (both battle AI and economy) but it makes it quite satisfying when you can optimize your units' capabilities while capitalizing on the enemy's vulnerabilities.
I concur. Just spawning the best stuff gets boring quickly. I actually restrain myself and try to use units similarly to doctrines in multiplayer, it's much more fun to take out the enemy using just basic stuff and a few elite units
I see your perspectives
Thanks for putting this together. It's a great help.
Jagdtiger lol. Just have to monitor condition of the tracks.
For Germany: I get two pak 40s in early-game, followed by addition of one pak 43 by mid-game. Early-game, I tend to only focus on defending one out of the two areas. Later on, I'll defend the majority, but not necessarily all if it spreads my army too thin. Instead, I'll place a lot of AT and AP mines around the area I don't defend with my army.
I have subscribed. Very good and helpful video. Thanks.
great video thanks bro😍😍😍
When you want to now where the enemy is coming from look where your mg’s of the defence force point at. This is most of the time where they come from.
Plz make an other tuto on URSS and Swedich. Remember you can keyban with shift + number, that way it's more easy with your artillery.
PS If you could highlight your mouse on the screen a bit brighter it might improve the video.
Hi I've just watched your first video. Very, very helpful. Thanks for posting. Only played the normal campaign until now, which I enjoyed. If the Dynamic Campaign is better, will be giving it a go, thanks to your top tips. I had no idea how to even start the Dynamic Campaign. Great video, thanks again.
I like to get some AT and AP miners and litter roads and avenues of advance with mines. Choke areas with mines leading to the point that Ive chosen to defend. I pick one flag location and stack it up with large trenches and barbed wire. Layered defense with arty behind the cap point for direct fire support. I will also try to hide single infantry along the approaches to observe what's coming at me.
are you gonna make videos for the russians ?
Good stuff here. Just watching this now.
23:09 I just look at where most AI defenses are and get a general idea from there the more defenses the higher the chance they might come from there, this is from experience don't know if its true but I never had a problem with it
Thanks alot for your help bro
There is a mod for 'auto-medic' that is ESSENTIAL...it makes medics useful. It also makes guns choose the proper ammo automatically based on the target. That should be part of the game 🙄. A mortar with supply (or the infantry gun that you chose) is also essential. Ambushing (i.e. single AT infantry) is just a part of battle. That's why you need to screen with infantry and not just send tanks forward all alone. The AI is still bad in this game, especially your own when they don't automatically take the proper stance based on the situation.
I know I’m 8months late but thanks for making these videos , it’s so hard to find conquest guides on gates of hell , more people should honestly check this insane WW2 game out
you had a ton of good units , and the comp just 15 militia?
Nothing like your units "helping" get themselves killed.
Nice vid, control group for arty is nice tho. Just pressing 1instead of selecting all 3 ever time.
Yes i thought the same!
What are your thoughts on heavy Pz.I
