@@TheGentry000 I ador FFX summons. From Yunalesca to the end of the game I let them and Yuna handle almost everything aside from the underwater boss on the way to get Anima. In the battle against sin Yunas Guardians barly have to lift a finger side from Rikku and Tidus giving Cid orders. The Aeons might be a bit over powert but they are super fun to play with. That you can teach them powerful skills is a part of that. Valefor actully became my go to summon fore mob fights becuse its satisfaying to whip the floor with enemies like King Behemot using my weakest Aeons.
@@sofaris576 for me anima is the best not by stats but for the story that comes with this eon. I wouldn't say they are overpowered since it takes a lot of xp to get them around 50k of damage but in the end it makes sense for them to be OP since they were used like weapons to win zanakard war. Yeah that feature to teach eons all kinds of skills is the best one
I’m surprised that they left out thunder element (Ramuh) out in first part.. water and earth are not the main element this time but they put leviathan
I thought the same thing, Leviathan also comes much later in the game, you cannot get it until you meet Yuffie and on top of that Leviathan cannot be summoned in certain enclosed areas in the game. Add in that Water isn't even a damage type in the game so it is another non-elemental damage summon.

@@T0beyeus wait, what? Leviathan could be summoned anywhere in the original. It was one of my favorite summons and I can't recall ever not being able to use it.
They might try to do a Neo line for Leviathan this time around. Leviathan and Bahamut have both gotten a lot of fleshing out in subsequent games and lore, and in the anime were the two sides of an eternal struggle between dragon gods. So I could see them doing that.
SubduedRadical in the original, you can’t get Leviathan until Wutai. In fact, you don’t get any summons until after leaving Midgar.
@@oldDNU OOOh, I get ya. I thought he meant there were LOCATIONS (e.g. "indoors", "in caves", etc) where he couldn't be summoned, like in DND how some spells require one to be "outdoors" or the like.

And yeah, the FIRST Summon you can get is Choco-Mog from the farm by talking with the Chocobos, and the first one the story gives you mandatory (which is the second one in the game) is Shiva when you get to Juno and save the little girl with the dolphin friend.
So that I know (and Leviathan comes from beating Yuffie's father at the top/5th battle of the Padoga in Wutai, if I recall correctly...)
I was just confused about him/her saying that Leviathan cannot be summoned in enclosed areas.
Gotta love how they kept the FFXIII summon system, the "Eidolon" stays with you in the field and leaves with a special attack.

Leviathan looks best in the Air Buster fight. The way she flies around the catwalks is mesmerizing. Huge credit to SE for that one.

That kiss shiva blows when using diamond dust gets me everytime.
Infrit, Fat Choboco and Shiva while at first are decent summons, in the original became obsolete fairly quickly, the summons already featured so far are ok, In the original game, Choco/Mog was good early because it could inflict "stop" and was good against flying enemies.
Leviathan was ok until you got "Bahamut" shortly after and then it became useless.
Infrit was good with fire damage until you got the "Phoenix" summon which again made it useless, Shiva, and Fat Choboco were simply overwhelmed by other Summons that just mearly did more base damage.
there were 16 summons in the original and several I really hope they bring back for this remake.
-Kujata: all 4 main elemental type attacks
-Phoenix: Massive Fire damage and was the ultimate "anti game over" type materia especially if paired with "final attack" because it would also revive all downed party members to full HP.
-Hades: Hit all enemies with every negative status effect in existence
-Odin: Potential to Instakill enemies
-Bahamut Zero: Along with the sick amount of damage from his Terraflare attack, pairing with HP/MP absorb materia also simultaneously restored your party's HP and MP as well.
Over the new trilogy I'm sure they'll have a combined more summons then any other final fantasy game tbh, this is square enix's baby
Personally, I would like Bahamut Zero to have the ability to summon the other two Bahamuts, and if you have all three on the field at once then its final attack will turn from Terra Flare into Zeta Flare, which basically inflicts 9999 damage to all enemies 3 times!

the cactuar summon is giving me mix feelings. One part of me is having frustrating flashbacks on chasing it and trying to catch it on mini games, another part of me is like yes~ shoot needles at my enemy~
on the other note, carbuncle here looks like a mix of dog and cat! I want a pushy of it!
I like how the Chocobo and Moogle one stepped in yo do their final move right as it looked like Tifa was about to get skewered

One thing I'll say that you did with this video that I did with FF7 Classic is I always had put Bahamut on Cloud this warms my heart that you did here brings back good memories.

My favorite has always been Alexander. Hopefully I stay functional long enough to see/play him in whatever chapter he appears in.
it would be cool if alexander summon changed the battle arena to a courtyard in front of alexander, and his attacks would be turrets or other medieval themed mechs fighting the enemy. judgement would still be the same, but after alexander's summon time runs out, the arena changes back to normal

Summons in FF7R are so much better than the summons in FF15, first you actually have to put in the work if you want to call forth Ifrit or Bahamut and so on for aid not just hold L2 depending on RNG.
It's a shame that we can't summon whenever we want to but at least we have options on what we want to summon.

The way this game plays is literally a cross between Star Ocean and Kingdom Hearts and that's not a bad thing at all.

As much as I loved final fantasy XV (don't hate me, I loved the soundtrack and story personally), the summons here felt easily accessible than the summons in 15 as they were purely random, but here you can summon on command

In Crisis Core Bahamut fly into space and destroy half of the planet. Here he shoots a beam. He got old!
I like the Bahamuts in the original FFVII. As they get more powerful, they get lazier. Bahamut flies down to earth, Neo Bahamut meets your foes halfway in the sky, and Bahamut Zero can hardly be bothered to wake up from his nap on the moon to shoot a laser.
I wonder what Knights of the Round is gonna look like. I can't imagine they would let ALL 12 knights+King Arthur run around the field AT THE SAME TIME.

I hope you can summon two at a time and with two summons they might combo from an attack like if Shiva uses icicle then ifrit uses an comet dive a new spell emerges, and this opens up different combinations, and if you can summon 3 then it increases the permutations,. So every game you play will be different. And also will depend on the summoner also.

I think after Final Fantasy vii remake series, square enix should make Final Fantasy Summons. I think summons in FF are just soulless puppets and it would be awesome if they had self awareness of what they're doing. Imagine Ifrit and Shiva arguing about everything. Because they're opposite.
