Seriously impressive model. There is a 200th scale static model and I believe there is a 200th photoetche detail set and turned metal gun barrels. Plus there is several books that have detailed reference photos and the like. Some discreet careful detail painting and detailing this model would be over the top.

regarding ballasting of any ship or model make sure you hav a slight trim by the stern this because when running they usually trim foreward while running, and if she trims to much on the bow the handling get worse as the rudder loose effect . I would guess that when the stern is at the waterline you should have the waterline on the bow a few mm above the water, if you run at scale speed.

Great Model! I already bought the Missouri and Bismarck and this one is as stunning as the two others. I spend a lot of hours painting all the details, which are unfortunately painted in the same color as the ship but it really pays off. :) If I'm finished, maybe late summer this year, I'm going to make a couple of videos about the ships :)

question what is the difference between this Bancroft 1/200 Yamato and the 1/200 scale nichimo Yamato the same size
3:30 Actually no, at least compared to the 1/1 ship, that bow wave and wake pattern IS scale despite the not-scale speed needed to achieve it. The problem with most RC hobbyists is they exaggerate the not-scale aspect and (would) drive their 1/200 Yamato around and around and around in circles, hopping their own wake like a speedboat instead of graceful sweeping turns and lots of straight line travel.

The beam of a ship is its width at its widest point. The maximum beam (BMAX) is the distance between planes passing through the outer sides of the ship, beam of the hull (BH) only includes permanently fixed parts of the hull, and beam at waterline (BWL) is the maximum width where the hull intersects the surface of the water.
Generally speaking, the wider the beam of a ship (or boat), the more initial stability it has, at the expense of secondary stability in the event of a capsize, where more energy is required to right the vessel from its inverted position. A ship that heels on her beam ends has her deck beams nearly vertical.

What a stupid model. For $1,199.00 I'd expect an entire suite of operating features the least of which would be a smoke generator, sound module and of course operating turrets (and possibly strobe effects for the main gun fire), but this model has absolutely none. You're better off with a Heng Long 1/16 RC tank which has all that and in a much smaller footprint.
