  • IJN Battleship Yamato | 1:200 Scale Gallery Models | Part 1. In this video we open the box and take a look at what is in side, and also look at the aftermarket parts that I am putting into this kit.
    On this channel we like to do flight simulation, and scale model building. My videos include a wide variety of aircraft and types of flying ranging in everything from small general aviation aircraft to airliners, and military aircraft. I use a variety of different simulators to include Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS), X-Plane, and Digital Combat Simulator (DCS). We also like to test our landing skills at various airports that present their own unique challenges in different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. There are also some flight tutorials for either the real or simulated world, and recreations of some of the worst accidents to better understand what happened, and learn from the past.

    Excellent video. I am seriously thinking of buying this kit. I built the 1\350 Tamiya version but this looks special. Especially if enhanced with one of the Aftermarket kits.

    Excellent I also have this kit in my stash and currently started working on the old 1970's kit 1/250 Arii yamato with very fire detail set plan is not to paint this kit and when I complete that then start the 1/200 that will be painted so you get a before and after effect.

    • @avion34
      @avion34  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks! I did that with my 1:350 Arizona so you could see the before and after painting, but I discovered quickly that it made it a lot more difficult to paint that way. So with this one I am building in sections and painting along the way.

    Excellent un-boxing video!! I'm really thinking of getting this as an awesome 1:200 scale Battleship. One question; what aftermarket wood Deck did you get? It looks great, so I am interested in getting the same if I do order a Yamato.

    • @avion34

      Thanks for the comment! It is a fantastic kit with excellent detail out of the box. Honestly there is no aftermarket parts required to have an outstanding result. I purchased the aftermarket kit at the same time I bought the kit before I had a chance to look at the kit parts closely. In hind sight I wouldn’t have gotten the aftermarket kit because of a couple reasons. The first is the kit details are excellent as they are. I probably would go ahead and use most if not all of the metal gun barrels because I have them, but the details aren’t really that much better than the kit parts. Second and probably most importantly the wooden deck doesn’t fit properly. The cut outs for the bits that go on the deck are misaligned and are too big so there is a clear space where the wood deck ends and the plastic deck is visible at the base of the various pieces that go on the deck. I will be putting a very out a video soon that takes a close look at this issue, and ultimately I didn’t use the aftermarket wooden deck. Instead I paint the plastic deck to look like wood, and I also show how I do this in the video. I think it turned out better anyway. If you still want to get the aftermarket set it is on EBay by the seller acemodel-1. I think it is around $60 if I recall.

      @@avion34 Thank you very much!! That is so good to know. I have already ordered a wooden deck but am in process of requesting a cancellation. Also, I did order the Vallejo "old/new wood effects" set. I'll just paint and weather accordingly. I can also use the same set for my un-built 1:100 Heller H.M.S. Victory!! My Gallery Yamato is "out for delivery" for today!! Your video sold me on it. :) Thanks again!!

      @@user-di4ip5ui3r so good to hear! You are going to love this kit. I used oil paints over an acrylic base of Tamiya buff. I show how I do it in the next video that’s coming soon.

    I have a awkward question what’s the difference between the /200 scale Yamato which is motorized and the static model that’s available now which is the one that you have?

    • @avion34
      @avion34  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This one I am building is the static kit. I actually don’t think there is a kit at least in this scale that comes with a motor and thinks needed to power it.

    hello, I have a question, are wooden decks equipped with a layer of glue underneath?

    • @avion34
      @avion34  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes the wooden deck has self adhesive on the back, but I plan to reinforce this with wood glue when I get to that point because I don’t trust that it’s going to be strong enough of a bond by itself.
