@UndergroundPaintKing Thanks man I finally got around to fixing the quarter panels with the vevor 6.3 gallon & the new yt160 (r500 with a teflon coating) in a good inflatable booth (WORKED IN THE WIND VERY NICE!) . The vevor never ran out of air, the gun had very little overspray & shot silver bmw metalic base coat perfect, only had some sag/runs in the clearcoat but Im better at fixing mistakes than painting so it looks great, Thanks for all the tips man!
Ive found that a lower pressure will keep the flakes suspended in the larger droplets doing multiple drop coats so you dont get those pieces sticking up and making the clear rough
That camera just ain’t picking the flake up good. It looks great but it’s not showing the Grant flake like it should and other than the occasional flake catching the lens, it looks like a regular metallic spray out but I do know better. It’s just the camera but not much we can do bout it. I’m gonna give that flake and clear a shot since your recommending it so highly. I’ve got my Custom Coach I’m gonna paint soon and I want to throw some flake & pearls in some of the graphics and make it a real head turner!!! I’ve shot plenty of flake over the years and you did an outstanding job brother and earned ya a new sub today!! Can’t wait to make my rig sparkle again, thanks for the motivation!!

Looks great but u know on the 3rd n 4th coat u should have cranked that pressure up and let that Black Widow Glass It Out. I love how it spray at 25-32 psi but believe it or not when I accidentally had my regulator up at about 37-40 psi. Lord knows it laid that clear down. I had to stop and say well damn 🤯😂🆑
😂 I got a couple more plans for the fender so I wasn’t trying to wet it out too much but I definitely will be in the near future ❗️ appreciate you Fam💯
That works to put down a smooth thin film but it blasts the paint into the air and it will fog out the rest of the car. You can get away with it on a panel or a bumper. Its actually a way you can keep trash out of the clear if you're painting outside on a windy day. The paint is super thin though

I love flakes ever since I was little riding the cars (honk honk honk) at Cedar Point. That'll look real good wet sanded and buffed. I don't think you'll disturb the flakes or at least you won't notice it 😊

My bus is the old greyhound bus style that has the polished stainless steel on the lower half which helps reduce the amount of paint & clear I need big time plus I like the way it looks too. Those flakes look really nice PK but I think they would look a lot better after a flowcoat👌could you mix different colour flakes and would you see those colours after they were on the panel? I've never used flakes before so I'm not sure what you can do with them🤔 Thanks for sharing PK👏🙏👍
I agree John, I think the flakes would pop more after a flow coat and I’ll test out adding different color flakes and see what we get! There is a lot of different flakes out there so the sky is the limit on what you can do when it comes to do custom paint work 💯 always good hearing from you my friend 🙏🏽💪🏾

I just tried flake for the first time last weekend. I laid 3 coats of clear and let in bake in the Florida sun for 3 days. Used a da with 600 and then laid 3 more coats. Came out slick! Used the 3300 GTO with your recommended settings! Ty UPK! I wish you had a place to post our projects.

@upking The 0.04 and 0.08 flakes will actually shoot through a 1.3 nozzle. I am using the 1.5 in the A610 Mixing my flake in UPol 2882 urethane and2303 catalyst. I will take a look at grant seven
It has multiple uses and I prefer it over putting the flakes into the clear because it allows me to cut and buff the clear without having a issue of cutting into the flakes, it’s just my preference, you can put the flakes into the clear if you want

UPK, I really like that Chrysler Green PGN color. I just bought a pint of it to spray my lawn tractor. :) A very old machine but with a little new paint will look good. That color has some pearl in it already so no flake :). Going to practice on this project. Then spray some clear over the base. Following your videos.
UPK, I am sanding a project with my 8 year old son, it was clear coat that is coming off. I am using 320 grit. Do I need to feather chipping clear coat or completely remove chipping clear coat? Trying to get it primer by weekend, then glazing putty for dings etc.
I keep my gun upside down until it’s time to spray. I spray then turn it back upside down to keep it from clogging up. I have never had a problem and I shoot 015 and 008 flake. I and use a cheep Husky gun with a 1.8 needle

I definitely would wait a week to cut and buff it and if I’m going to do a flow coat I could cut with 600 or 800 now and then do my flow coat

You can feather it if you have clear coat that you know for sure has good adhesion outside of the chipping clear coat

If I strip a car to bare metal with 80 grit and a variable speed polisher, do I need to go back and hit it with a da? Or is that enough for adhesion?

I keep my gun upside down until it’s time to spray. I spray then turn it back upside down to keep it from clogging up. I have never had a problem and I shoot 015 and 008 flake. I and use a cheep Husky gun with a 1.8 needle

On camera its hard to really see the flakes like you said it almost looks the same !

I have a 21 gallon compressor in my shop along with my 80 gallon compressor

@@suspensefulness you can but you’ll deal with the issue of the pressure dropping while you’re painting, as long as you’re mindful of that you can do it
