I kinda thought it was gonna be something obvious but I didn't see this coming. This did something I thought they were never gonna do again. Try to make wrestling look real. I've missed that. I've missed when they tried making wrestling look real.

If he pulls an Ultimate Warrior and vacates the IC after beating Seth, that lets him carry his prestige to the WHC without really affecting the IC title. Plus, there's absolutely no universe where Gunther vs Seth isn't an absolute banger.

This was great for a few reasons:
1) Punk’s commentary. The dogs at the Rock, and basically referencing without saying it directly how this happened to him with the Rock, and the All Out fight with the Young Bucks. Get this guy on color if he’s not in the ring.
2: Rock’s “power point presentation”. Rock showed us the family tree, basically saying “here’s the lineage of the Bloodline”, and the implying that he and Roman are basically the heirs to their respective grandfathers. That was my takeaway.
3: The ending. Rock and Roman walk by HHH and Rock demands he “f-ing fix it”, followed by Roman disrespecting him. If HHH wasn’t on team Cody before, he is now, and how he manages things will be interesting.
4: The blending of reality and kayfabe. They made it clear that Rock is chairman of the board, and has a strong relationship with Nick Khan, whose name I can’t remember being mentioned on WWE programming in any storyline capacity.
Also- Rollins was great in his role here, and it was great to see Big E there too.
I totally expect Punk to confront Rock on the road to Mania and just revel in the glory he's vicariously living through Cody.

Remember in 02 the NWO had a handicap match against The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on Raw before WrestleMania? Is it crazy to imagine Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes vs The Rock and Roman Reigns on Raw or SmackDown? Imagine the ratings.
At this point I want Seth to be involved with the Bloodline story too somehow. Maybe the main event of WrestleMania can be for both titles, just not unifying them. I think we need Seth vs Roman again at some point, Seth vs Rock, Cody vs Rock...this could last for another year.
Wrestlemania 40 feels like a series finale to a show just amazing to look forward to.

UFC big fan and WWE casual fan here. I can definitely see the TKO/UFC influences now with these press conferences and beef building, swearing (even if censored) and casually mentioning TNA/New Japan on air (I remember this being taboo before). I think I’m gonna start watching WWE again regularly (at least until Wrestlemania lol)

I'm a casual fan that hasn't watched regularly for over 10 years. I tuned in a few times after Punk returned (mostly for his segments) and I couldn't believe I was watching a pre Wrestlemania conference yesterday. And it did its job. I'm gonna watch Raw on Monday to see what's up. The Great One is spot on when he says that this is the first time in a long time wrestling had been so intriguing. Good stuff.

As an older fan I've only been THIS invested in an angle since Pipebomb and before that it was the year 2000 when The Rock was chasing the title in the McMahon Helmsely era. That era was the authority storyline done correctly.

Give us Rock vs Seth at Wrestlemania 41 Night 1 Main Event. A 5-7 minutes match with Heel Rock winning (thanks to Bloodline) will be epic. Seth is injured so a 5-7 minutes match would be better than a 20 minutes one.

They could turn this whole thing into an invasion angle where Rock and Roman try to take over the company and Triple H figureheads a ragtag clique of people who don't really get along to fight them.
If they wanted to go crazy with it they could even bring in Jacob Fatu to bolster The Bloodline and put the spotlight back on Jey as being torn between the two camps, not because he likes Roman but because the stakes are so high he doesn't want his family to suffer. Naomi and Nia could be the vectors to bring the angle to the Women's Division and the whole thing could be a year of storylines. Drew and Punk forced to team together, Rhea or Gunther losing their titles from Bloodline interference so now you have a heel faction that was staying out of it teaming with Triple H's babyfaces for revenge, etc.
Basically do it like _The_ Invasion except with a coherent plan from the start. Culminate it in a huge Summerslam/Survivor Series show where The Bloodline is permanently destroyed in some dramatic twist like Heyman turning on them because he sees the ship sinking and he latches onto someone new like Bron Breakker to give him a huge star-making moment.
That’s actually a great idea in terms in sort telling…and also breaking a new star in the process

I'd like to tip my hat off to WWE for playing every wrestling fan (myself included) like a fiddle. They diverted our attention from the Vince McMahon scandal by scheduling The Rock vs Roman once Cody won the Rumble. They made us believe Cody wasn't gonna finish his story. And then they swerved the hell out of us with a GODDAMN PRESS CONFERENCE. They got us all hyped with a press conference.

This felt real, and thats exactly what made the ATTITUDE ERA so impressive during the 90s that the rivalries felt real like that ICONIC fight between Austin and Mike Tyson and this press conference felt exactly like that, and I have to be honest this real feeling it's exactly what it was missing in the last 20 years... 🤷
The best way to bring this story a good end is when a bid name like broke lesnar and seth rollins stand by cody's side to bring it to an end

What more interesting is, how people frustrated with Cody winning Rumble at the first and CM Punk losing it. What happened now, Cody winning the Rumble is one most epic storyline in WrestleMania history. Better idea then Punk winning the Rumble and face Seth or story about head of the table between Rock and Roman.

Honestly, I don’t want Cody to beat Roman at Wrestlemania. I just want Roman to continue holding it until he beats Hogan’s record..then lose it. That’s fine with me.
Here's my theory - Cody faces Roman at XL and when going for the pin solo interrupts of course, Rock comes out (or all ready there) turns on Roman and keeps outside interfaces out and Cody wins without distractions. Paul will be making the funniest faces during all of it.

Plot twist: This is building up for Triple H vs the Rock at WrestleMania for control of WWE.
Here's a story line. Rock gets pissed with Triple H for letting Cody face Roman. Rock challenges Triple H for a match at elimination. If Rock wins Rock gets to face Roman. If Triple H wins he doesn't. Triple H wins at elimination. So Cody faces Roman and wins. Triple H faces Rock at wrestlemania. Rock wins. Seth vs Drew. Rock n Triple H never faced off at Wrestlemania in a singles ever.
That press conference was exciting. I am going to WM 40 in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania so I am very much glued to the mores events .
"Almost real" is what wrestling always was before. This is getting back to old school wrestling and away from bubble gum, top 40 crap.
