Yesterday, I was convinced it was Sunday and nobody told me any different. All my family and friends played along. (I'm working way too much. But, it's tax time.) I kept saying, "Base Camp Chris hasn't uploaded, I wonder why? I hope all is well." Yeah, the laugh was on me! Thank you, to my dear friends and family!!! 😂 Cheers, Chris! 🍻
Same with me, I kept checking on the channel confused 🤔😂
Ditto!!! Wonder what's going on?
Ditto!!! Wonder what's going on?
😂😂
Once when I was 30 2005 i think. I had drank too much and fell asleep at 6 am Sunday and woke at 4 :30or 5 pm when the sun was going down (winter.) I thought i was late to work! Drove to work but there were no cars there. I sat there head pounding and hung over. After a minute i drove home and looked on the computer. It wasn't Monday morning! It was Sunday evening. I was so relieved that i could go back to bed and had 12 hours left to rest!
That one drawing has Minerva on it! That's where I live!!
I have a story that was told to me years ago but I haven't heard of any recent sightings.
~Enter Disclaimer~ Take this as you will, it was told to me by my XWifes 2ndAunt who was around 80 at the time.
I forget her name now, but this was when she was younger (1970's) She started off by saying that she was out in the garden one summer working soil, pulling weeds and she was singing church hymns out loud to herself when she heard someone almost mocking her or singing along in the woods. She said she stood up from working on her knees, off to her left about 75 yards away near the fence line was a HUGE ape like harry creature just standing under a tree watching her. She guessed around 7-8' tall. She claimed that it didn't spook her or seem to have ill intent. She described it as having a warm blanket from God himself holding her tight and having this feeling of I'm not here to hurt you. She said it just stood there staring at her with long brownish dark hair, large blank eyes but the face of manape. She said right after that it turned and walked back into the forest and she went on with her business in the garden and figured that was odd and the end of it. Not even a few days after that she was out in the garden again pulling weeds and singing her hymns when this time the warm feeling came over her as well as a being watched feeling, she stood up and looked and under that same tree and here sat this massive ape like man with his legs crossed and back up against the tree. She didn't feel in danger or scared even. More like this creature was very intelligent and yet very curious. She kept on singing and working but was careful to not really stare or make direct eye contact as she felt safe but still a bit uneasy. She wouldn't pay any mind basically, she wouldn't here it come or go she would just know when it was there and then not. She said as the summer went on she would leave apples and grapes on the fence post by the tree and as she would work the garden that same feeling would wash over her and each time there would be this creature, she said she could see that it would come grab the fruits and always stay in the same area and would never try to get closer or seem to have ill intent. I asked her how many times did she actually see this thing and she literally said this went on weekly for about 3 months! I get things were different back then, but my mind was blown. like no way! Then she told me that one evening she was outside and her husband pulled in and when he got out of the truck he was drunk and yelling at her, waving his arms around being loud and belligerent and when he started to approach her in this manner a stone came flying out of the woods and hit him on the back of the head knocking him out cold and bleeding. From my understanding she told him about the visitor, but he had never seen it or really believed her. She said after that his attitude and drinking changed from that evening like a light switch went off in his head. She described it more as he felt it was an act of God. (being church folk at that time) But from that evening on she never felt those feelings while outside and never seen the harry wildman again. Plus she said the fruit wasn't being taken anymore. Just one story I've heard and wanted to share after watching so many or Base Camp Chris! Love this is a platform for stories to be shared of our amazing planet! Cheers from Ohio!
My goodness Mr.Tim. This is one of the more remarkable stories I have heard, and of course the area around Minerva is famous for them like the Minerva Monster. Music hath charms to sooth the savage beast. I do believe the Aunt. I have heard of a few such cases, different of course. They definitely take more interest in women and your X aunt had a friend.
@@cbrippee I agree, the way she told the story was like it was a friend, looking back I wonder if it was a young wildman and not an adult
@@MrTim4pc They grow up to be adults faster than we do, hard to say. For sure it really took a liking to your Aunt and became her protector. Unfortantely her husband ruined it for her, but I am sure made her life better by ending his boozing. Thanks for this amazing story and it is one I will remember for many years.
There's a channel that has several encounters of females being snatched on prince of Wales island and it's nothing nice.

From the land of sky blue waaater, waaater,
From the land of pines, lofty balsams,
Comes the beer refreshing
Hamm's the beer refreshing~
HAAAMMS!
As soon as I saw the can, the song began to play in my mind,
Ahh... the good old days.
That's what I was thinking! I love it!
Same! 🍻
That sounds like something my younger sister would come up with.
Great memory LauraJa, I too so remember. My father use to buy it at only 99 cents a six pack.
Hamm’s beer???!!!! Really? That is a blast from the past. The bear popped into my mind immediately.
Where's the Schlitz tho?!
Hahaha JK♡
It is/was the cheapest beer you can get around here. It ain't bad, though. But I'm no beer connoisseur.
Mine too!

I live in Ohio. Matt Moneymaker, who started the BFRO, actually elected to go to college at the University of Akron because of all of the alleged bigfoot sightings he had heard and read about in Ohio. When he wasn't in class he was stomping around the woods here and claims he had his first ever sighting in that area. Salt Fork State Park in Ohio has had a lot of alleged sightings as well.
That dude's name fits him well
Yeah I'll never forget that credible couple who were standing over their fire drinking beer & they looked over to the shadows & saw a huge grassman staring at them. Many grassman nests have been found in that area too. Salt Fork state park.
I'm originally from south western Ohio in Preble County. I now live in Central Florida. My sister has heard some woops or howls in their woods.
Also my great grandma lived above the little cuyahoga river back probably in the 40s, my grandma told a story about her mom in the backyard doing laundry, the yard was on a hill overlooking the little cuyahoga. She said she smelled something horrible and seen a hairy man walking up the hill, she screamed, and it turned around and left. Wish I could have gotten more details
Holy crap! That was terrifying! You know what they say, you don't need to run faster than the Bigfoot, you just need to run faster than your friends! KH Chris!
😂
Your gonna want to trip your friend while running 🏃 and sacrifice him to Bigfoot 😂
I live in Dayton Ohio and we found a giant Hut back on our motorcycle trails and it looked really weird it was made out of all kinds of woven sticks and grass and stuff
I live about 25 NW of Dayton, in Arcanum. I have had one on my rural property at least twice back in late Nov. of 2013 and again very early June of 2014. An old neighbor had one jump out of a slight ditch and cross in front of his car at 2am late June of 2015, coming home to West Milton from the Honda Parts Warehouse next to the I-75 in Troy, OH. This took place just north of Ludlow Falls, OH close to the bridge one the east side of the Stillwater River at State Route 48 and Fenner Road. The size and fact it existed scared the living daylights out of Sam and he was so pissed as no one except me would believe him. And back in 2013 there were reports, I investigated one, just outside on New Lebanon, OH. Great find on that Hut, sounds like grassman work. I too am a motorcycle enthusiast, but strickly stay to the roads.
About 30 years ago, I was on a traveling nurse assignment in Cleveland. My apartment was in Akron, so that park was close by. After work one day, I drove to the park and started hiking, by myself. If I had known about the Ohio Grassman at that time, I would never have done that. Luckily, the only animal I saw was another human. Just thinking about the potential of meeting up with something like that, gives me the creeps!
Sounds scary to even walk alone don't know why people do,funny what you said jus a scary human lol watch out some are
Wow
I’ve only driven through OH that’s it
December of 2009 we were moving across the country from California. Driving through the I-70, just south of the Salt Fork State Park, which is a well known area for Grassman sightings. Along the side of the road was a very large deer carcass, which looked as though someone had reached into the rib cage and opened it up with both hands, ripping it open at the rib cage!
And we looked at each other and said, Grassman?
Cool! Thanks...🌲🐵🌲c
The " Ohio Howl" recorded by Matt Moneymaker in 1994 is one of the most famous purported Sasquatch vocalizations and Ohio is one of the leading states for reported sightings
They are most definitely there in abundance 👣
Where can we hear it online?
That's no bigfoot scream.
Oh no 😱 ! I hate hearing recordings of vocalisations of BigFoot. That’s very scary to me.
I remember being a child in Northern Ohio and hearing an animal call at dusk in the summer. It was such a lonely call that it made me sad. Years later, I heard the "Ohio call" and almost fell over. It was the same sad call I used to hear as a kid!
The best stories brilliantly told are on Base Camp Chris, I look forward to every Sunday 😀👍
yes true, on other channels stories about cryptids are way to creepy for me. But Chris has a very sympathetic way to tell those stories.
Me too❤️💕
Hello Chris! I always love your "campfire" stories. This one, being set in Ohio, brings to mind an experience I had about five years ago.
I live in rural NW Ohio where the landscape is a patchwork of open fields and wooded lots, wetlands, creeks, and reservoirs.
I often drive out to one of these reservoirs to enjoy the quiet and watch the waterbirds who dot the surface of the water. One beautiful fall evening I went alone and rolled down the windows and just sat in the car I had parked close to the water. As the sun was going down and I was fully relaxed, I heard a loud, angry, roaring scream from the woods next to my right . That was all it took. I turned on the car, rolled up my windows, and got the heck home. That sound was terrifying and like nothing I've heard before or since.
Interesting. I know the area you speak living a hundred miles south close to the 127. This is the least likely region of Ohio to find one, but I am sure they migrate through this area from time to time.
I'm from around the Toledo area - whereabouts were you when this happened? Just curious as I have heard of a few reported around some of the marshes near Lake Erie, just east of Oregon, OH. There's also a credible sighting by a kayaker cutting through a canal next to Missionary Island in the Maumee River. He reported it was paralleling him from just inside some scrub on the island's edge as he cut through, and also was throwing rocks in his direction...
These stories make my Sunday night! So well told by Chris. Absolutely look forward to listening to every new story.
Did anyone else think the kid reporting the story was going to be left behind by the two friends running ahead of him? Sounds like he was lucky to jump into the backseat before they pulled away!
Another great story, Chris. BTW nice editing! The drive out of the woods had a spooky feel and the dark silhouette that blocks out the "thanks for watching" was chilling. Have a great week. Looking Forward to the next video.
Chris I have this little story to tell. I live in NE Pa. Our home is on a mountain 2,000 ft. above sea level. Surrounded by woods and a state park. One evening it was dark my husband and our dog went down the front stairs off the porch took a left heading to the cellar. This incident he will
Not talk about it! I learned from my daughter and son-in-law. As they were heading to the cellar he looked up and saw a very big shadow leaning against a tree trunk looking at him about 10 feet away. Our dog did not bark he was not a barker and I guess he was not alarmed. I know it frightened him and this is not one of his character traits. He is a veteran of 22 years. Always in the woods hunting. Very smart and resourceful. He told them he would never go out again without his gun.
I think he didn't tell me for I might
be fearful. We have not had any occurrence since that I know of although one day this past summer I was watering my plants and felt someone there watching Never felt like that. Not comfortable. So I guess we might have a bigfoot in our woods. This happened about 6 years ago. Always enjoy your content very interesting. Have a good week. 🏕
Thanks for the story purrrfect...10 feet away is so close...OMG! very scary! C
Hamm's beer, I had one when I was a kid.
The barking stops when the devil walks the land!
Hamm's! Flash back to my Grandfather's watching baseball! Lol!
How terrifying to experience as a teenager 😳 I can’t imagine the horror of an experience like that!!
Chris, August 2 and 3 of this year are the dates of the 3rd annual Hocking Hills Bigfoot Festival in Logan, Ohio. This is a beautiful area in southeastern Ohio. The area has state parks, especially Old Man's Cave. I plan on driving to Ohio this summer and attending the festival. I have family that lives in the Hocking Hills, so I get to spend time in one of my favorite parts of Ohio.
You are a braver “Laura” than me!
Hocking hills is soooooo beautiful !!
The gorge where you find Old Man's Cave is gorgeous. I've never experienced anything in the area but it's not surprising at all that locals have.
On a side note, I'm fascinated by all of the evidence that the gorge was subject to torrential flooding when the Laurentide ice sheet melted ca. 12k years ago.
I live in the Hocking hills area
me and my son encountered 2 of these things at 4 am in the morning at Hueston Woods state park. It was at the campgrounds, we went into the woods to gather firewood and they threw rocks at us from the top of a huge hill. I swear everything I state is true. 100 % the year was 2012 and the month was AUG, Huston woods state park is located in Ohio, by Miami state university Oxford Ohio!!!
Some native Americans tribes refer to Bigfoot as The Hairy Man. Great story Chris. Thank you.
A great story Chris...I look forward to hearing your stories every week
I remember that beer 🍺, great story Chris...
Chris, it's embarrassing, I look forward to your weekly stories like a little kid but I'm an old man. I am not a believer but very entertaining. Thanks
Hah! Dear, Not a believer, I suppose to believe you'll probably need first hand experience... Just go hiking the right place.
Same, except I’m a little old lady and I do believe!! 😂😂😂
@@Beverly2020 Me, too Beverly. I’m an older person and I believe 😳
I lived near Cuyahoga Falls, south of Akron when I was little. Me and my friends spent much of our days playing in the woods. There are really strange things in those woods. We saw some odd creatures and sounds. It was just something we got used to and learned where not to go. We never talked too much about what we saw and heard because no one would believe us.

As a Northeast Ohioan I love CVNP. It’s the perfect getaway from the city and it’s so incredibly convenient and accessible (free to enter as well). I’ve spent plenty of time out in those woods incident-free (although I did hear a mysterious growl last fall). For an out-of-stater it might come off as underwhelming as a national park, so if you ever make it here, come with somewhat lowered expectations from the big west parks, and I wouldn’t recommend making a special trip. Combined with other landmarks, though it would be a great day-stop. The history, the railroad, and the canal/towpath trail really make the park stand out (not necessarily the breathtaking scenery). It’s also an environmental success story, with the Cuyahoga River fires (yes, fires) playing a big role in kicking off the Clean Water Act.
If you ever make it to Ohio, another must-do would be the Lake Erie Islands area, between Toledo and Cleveland. Put-in-Bay and Kelly’s Island are the highlights…when you get out to these islands it’s hard to tell you’re anywhere near the Midwest. Very cool location.
Looks like a good park...cool that its free.. a lot of history there. Thanks! C
I remember hearing about the time the Cuyahoga river caught fire!
Oh....! Finally covering Ohio, aren't we?
Well, it seems like the eastern half of the state is where MOST of the "Big Fellow" activity takes place. Northeast is a rust belt but Southeast Ohio is least populated with people.
Yes, the Akron-Cleveland area is active but the most famous case is the Minerva 1978 incident. Salt Fork State Park at the base of the Appalachian Mountains seems to be the most active area now...
Ashtabula County, Ohio has been a Hotspot, for many Decades, and continues to be, as well
Daniel needs to find better friends. LOL
I'm so happy to see you this evening,I wasn't sure if you were going to get a story out because I just can't wait for the new stories so thank you very much!!
I've been to the park many-times (quite-beautiful, with much to do recreation-wise for families, hiker's, etc)--I'm also friend's with the park naturalist, whom has put on Bigfoot expedition's & group gathering's at recreation areas with movie's discussing BF sightings there & elsewhere of the famous "Ohio Grassman!"...
Hello Chris! I am a Bigfoot and Grassman researcher that lives in Akron. I spend a lot of time in the CVNP. I research near that area and it is active. Let me know when you are coming to town. Our research group is Ohio Cryptid Researchers and we have some videos posted on our TH-cam Channel Exposing the Strange. Take care, David
Y'all should come to Ashtabula County! Plenty of activity; for Decades. I know of several; personally, including myself, and 5 years ago.
👋 Chris!
Cheers from Okanagan valley British Columbia 🇨🇦
😮 same here kelowna
My uncle was chased out of wooly booger cemetery in the 70’s by something similar. That’s in grove city, Ohio. All my life I’ve heard of a creature that lurks the Darby creek area and that specific cemetery. I walk it at night with a Pistol and have yet to have an issue myself. I catfish up and down that river. But I’m always cautious that day could come. There’s definitely things that lurk that are just beyond our understanding,
And i genuinely believe that.
I do too...Thanks C
Was getting anxious this morning here in South Australia..Wheres Camp Base Chris? Started to get worried. Then all of a sudden there you were. So glad you are ok. Great story. I was sure someone was going to trip and fall running back. Glad they all made it out! Have a great week Chris. In contrast to your very cold weather, we had 41°C yesterday 😮
KEEP HIKING!
P.S. Its Monday Morning when Base Camp Chris loads here! ❤️🇦🇺🦘
My family is from Brecksville! I used to live about 40 mins from Akron, near Amish country. I keep trying to warn my family but they don't take me seriously.
I bet those Amish would have some tales to tell if they did not keep to themselves. Especially on these old time farms that are kept so dark at night.
I almost forgot! Squatchin' with Chris Sunday. Thanks

Congrats Chris. You’re the first person on TH-cam from outside our region that pronounced the Parks name properly. Lol. I live in the area. Know all these roads well. It’s not the first time I’ve heard of odd things going on there. It’s a cool little park surrounded by Akron to the south, Cleveland to the north. Love your content, always look forward to a new episode.
Thanks Chris, what a great story 😮
You’re the best storyteller!
They may be not of this earth. Great story 😊👍
Hi Chris-another great video. Thank you.
I couldn't help but notice your Phillips 66 Sign. My father bought a Phillips 66 gas station in 1968 in the neighborhood he was raised in. Ironically the area was once called Phillipsdale today the area is called Rumford. This is an area in East Providence R.I.😊
Thank you for another great story. We appreciate all that you do!
Hi Chris, will we be able to see your mom and dad anytime soon? They are such a neat couple and I enjoy their visits to your channel.
Oh wow! I live only 10 minutes away from Cuyahoga Valley National Park, right by The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. I've hiked, biked and fished there many times. The Trail becomes a boardwalk where it crosses over the Beaver Marsh. Brandywine Falls is nearby and is one of the many waterfalls, and one of my favorites! I've walked a couple times going home where it was just turning dark and it really is pretty creepy at night! I'll have to watch out for the Grassman bigfoot next time I go walking! And the Scenic Railroad is a very popular attraction for many! It's really a beautiful park! Thanks Chris for another great story, this time in my hometown near Cleveland!
I'm from Ohio and I've had a encounter with something that walked on 2 legs that sure as hell wasn't a perso

Wow! Don't want to run into that Ohio Grass man! Fun to hear about him!
A beaver in the moonlight, ah the memories.
Love the old Chevrolet sign. Hot dogs Apple pie and Chevrolet.😅
I live right outside the park borders and have hiked and driven the area since the 80’s, on this trail, on these tracks but never encountered any traces of this Sasquatch. I hike the CVNP 3 days a week, often when it’s dark in the morning but no encounters. The park is heavily forested but sits between heavily populated areas. Also camped a lot in southern Ohio and western Pennsylvania when younger but again, no squatch encounters. You never know though…..keep looking AND hiking
i have, around 2-3 am one night. the wildlife preserve with the old graveyard. you know the one.
What did you see or hear? Lots of coyotes barking down there. I would like to sit at the Columbia Rd picnic area and just listen….. @@PapaBear-nt2mu
Come out to Ashtabula County , sometime! Plenty of Squatches up here
Once again, a good moment in time. Thanks to you for the these encounters.

I live in Ohio stark county and it's kinda scary after hearing about this story and the Youngstown story. I guess there's a lot of stuff going on in southern Ohio also. Maybe that's why I don't hunt anymore lol....so thanks for the nightmares ha,ha,ha
You ever hear Matt Emch's Y-Town Dogman Story!? I drove past that old Steel Mill, many times- used to live in Hubbard, now in Warren. It's a creepy looking place!
Ive been hiking in the cuyahoga valley my whole life, sometimes 7 days a week, have literally explored almost every corner of the park. Still no Bigfoot sighting for me yet but always have fingers crossed
Thx Chris! Was starting to wonder if u were putting out a video today, it's getting close to bedtime over here on the east coast, thx again!
It is very sad to live with a partner that does not believe you. This is a serious thing and to have a wife that is not sympathetic and verbally says you are crazy..I would not stay with that person.. The police and government personnel are aware of this swamp glassman. I am so happy you shared your story and I hope in the future our government will acknowledge these entities as well as Dogman. May you always be blessed and be safe my friend. I am sending you a hug from New Jersey.
The grassman exists and I know from friends that live in upstate NY that they have seen sightings of this frightening entity. There are so many sightings of these things and people can not live in denial about these entities living in the swamps of North America.
Yes! 100% How anyone can say they love, and trust their Spouse, yet basically, call them a LIAR, and refuse to believe them, is beyond me!
Your descriptions in your storytelling are so amazing!!! I can see, smell, hear as if I were there!! Thanks again Chris!! 🤩
Ohio, where I live, is rated 4th for Bigfoot encounters. Especially around Salt Fork State Park! They even have a bigfoot festival there! Also in Hocking Hills! 😊

Google maps with Google street view feature is a lot of fun and addicting. Thanks Chris it gives a good idea of the surroundings.
Thanks Daniel for sharing your encounter...at any moment I was hoping neither of you tripped on the railway ties....resembled that scene of Stand By Me, but this was real life running for your lives!
Wow thank you for the online description of the Ohio Grassman, that mound of dried grass looked like a beaver lodge of sorts. That was an interesting detailed sketch in that periodical . The famous Ohio howl is recorded there.

From the aggressive behavior of this creature I was at first thinking it might be a werewolf or a dogman until you mentioned the grassman. Of course any of these 3 creatures are terrifying if you encounter them. Werewolves and dogmen are even known to come into and prowl urban areas where they have been encountered in cities and towns. Sasquatch on the other hand seems to prefer forests and wilderness.
👋🏼😁😁Chris!
I remember the awesome tv commercials!
Look forward to these stories every week!! Thank you and keep them coming!!
Thank you Chris, I love your stories!
I live in this area. There does seem to be some strange things happening in the woods in the park at night.
key words: at night
You should just go sit out there, in the dark, and let us know what you find? Lol
I found a nest structure in Wisconsin even with big trees pushed together like a hut. I hunted out of it once like a hunting blind.

The Hamm's beer reminded me of my aunt and uncle's bar restaurant back in the day in Talmoon Minnesota. I really miss those times.
Great story Chris. You are such a good story teller. Thanks again!
Hey Chris, I noticed the clock behind your head and saw that it was a few different times, 1205, 710, and 1240.So I’m guessing you must edit your videos and do them over time. Just figured I’d ask about that. Another good story as usual!

Hi Chris. Good to see you! These stories keep getting freakier and freakier!! This really spooked me. Lol. I wonder if these creatures are half human and half animal. ? Thanks for a good story!!! Stay safe.

their athleticism, speed and strength, and their vocal/lung capacity is almost incomprehensible.
I live about 5 miles from the Cuyahog Valley Natl Park! You pronounced Cuyahoga and Akron correctly! Well done! ❤😊

I have relatives in Chillicothe Ohio. They are old order Mennonite horse and buggy style that is. When I was 12-14 not really sure my age we were visiting them at their farm. I remember being outside his shoe shop and I looked at one of the sheds posavly a corn bin. It was probably 13 feet tall. I remember seeing a shadowy figure peeking from behind that bin, it was tall and hairy. When I went to do a double take it was gone. I ran in the house. To this day I can still see it ant and it was over 30 years ago. I would guess it was 10-11 feet tall.
me and my son encountered 2 of these things at 4 am in the morning at Hueston Woods state park.
