Great video and you make a good point about people being way too focused on specs and not giving watches a chance bc of it. Watch peoole enjoy the details but it shouldn't get in the way of enjoying a watch bc in the end 99.99% of the time water resistance doesnt matter and a watch running a bit faster isnt a big deal. If a watch makes you happy and if it wont break down on you then said watch is good to go!
Thanks Ed! Yeah I see people saying that they love the watch but a particular spec isn't good enough. There are always going to be deal breakers but a little less water resistance or a movement that isn't Rolex accurate aren't big deals to me if the watch is really speaking to me. And plus if a watch is fast it's a good thing in my book so I'm never late lol!
Agreed, but sometimes, specs are what make people happy about their watch. Like the deep divers that literally can only be used as intended by a couple of hundred people in the world
I'm wearing my Longines and Seiko in rotation. I prefer the Seiko though. I can't wrap my head around people collectively dismissing Seikos north of 1000 bucks. Maybe I won the Seiko lottery but my individual piece really outshines more expensive Swiss options with its intricate finishing and it also runs within COSC. My best purchase of 2023.
I have a new Longines Conquest Chronograph in my collection (lovely watch) and kind of compatible to the Hydoconqest. I also have a Sumo limited edition with a 6R range calibre inside, which has been truely awful from day one! You cannot possibly compare these two watches side by side. Yes a Marinemaster with an 8 series calibre, but no no no. I also have a Seiko 5 in collection and the 4R36 movement inside that utterly outperforms the 6 series in the Sumo and let’s face it we’re looking at a calibre that costs about £50 (UK). The ETA variant in the Longines is an altogether better calibre (and far more costly)!
You have covered many GMTs lately which I’m a big fan of. Would you consider reviewing the newly released Breitling Avenger GMT? A watch that has caught my attention these last few weeks and there doesn’t seem to be much fanfare or reviews on TH-cam of this new Avenger range.
Perfect comparisson, exactly what I was looking for. I will go for Seiko not only for the price but especially for the case and overall look. So an extra 100$€ for a better bracelet will still be cheaper than the Longiness.
Sure thing! The 39mm legend diver is super tempting and right up my alley for sure so I would want to check it out in person and do a video. That said I'll have to sell some watches before doing so lol!
It would be the MM200 GMT without a doubt bc of how connected I am with the overall design so the reasons for choosing it over the Longines are more personal. That said spending a year with the HC GMT would be more than ok as well! Which would you choose?
@@thewatchidiot I’d probably go with the Longines because of the clasp and I love the brand as a whole. I also love Seiko, but Longines and Omega are dear to me because my dad has given me a few of each brand throughout my life

IMO Longines is clearly better watch in almost every aspect, but I like Seiko's design more and never like this design of Longines for some reason (Probably the hour markers being circular at 6-9 and date window). That's why I have green dial version of this Seiko in my wishlist and will probably buy it. I wish I like design of Longines so that I would get this peace definitely, because there are tons of value packed in it and this watch is at the same league with Tudor, maybe even better. Also congrats to Seiko to have very nice design and well finished case and dial. Watch collecting is interesting.
For 95% of people a callers GMt is more functional. This will start to be more accepted when the travel GmTs work their way into the affordable watch world (already happening). As the fixation on ‘true’ GMT is mostly about snobbery given they are traditionally only in more expensive pieces.
Great comparisons. I personally think between the two, I'd likely pick the Seiko. I don't do much traveling abroad these days like I used to. And frankly I really don't even need a GMT watch, I just like the look of one. And with all that in mind, and the convenience of quick setting the date on the psycho, I probably choose to say go. And the Seiko has its own identity. Whereas this particular new GMT reference for the hydro conquest does look a bit submariner derivative.
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed the comparison! Lol yeah as much as I like to say I need to track other time zones it just comes down to me liking the look of the fourth GMT hand 😅 although tracking does come in handy every once in a while which helps me mentally justify it! And yeah the quickset date on caller GMTs vs the tedious date change on flyer GMTs is something that I think people often forget about. Not a big deal if it's always wound or in use but man when it's not....

I tried them both on last Friday. I really really thought I was going to buy the green one, but if I’m honest I was a little disappointed. The bezel and the face are two different shades of green, and it essentially looks black in a lot of lights. So I bought neither as I already have two black divers and didn’t need a third. That being said - the black one looks incredible!

Yeah if someone is able to chose btwn the two and doesn't have a specific connection with Seiko then the Longines would be a better buy. But for those with Seikopathy it's a different story😄
I am all in for the seiko and its not price related- Love the brand, looks, rugged reliability. Love the Longines, but the seiko is me. Why do you choose the longines?
Longines bracelet and movement are far better than Seiko... Seiko is trying to step up with this watch but loose bezel, unsigned crown, lack of easy push extension on bracelet are a big down. I mean lets accept it seiko's bracelet is horrible.
During this mm200 gmt release, many people said that the dive bezel + gmt function on this watch is irrelevant & weird . but finally longines imitated the dive bezel + gmt hands combination from seiko as well. no wonder after this, many other watch brands will make combinations like this 😂. & don't forget seiko wins this competition easily with its much cheaper price. But man, that Seiko is quite handsome! Thanks for the comparison.
First of all, I am a Longines HydroConquest GMT owner, therefore, I am easy to put Longines win on every round of comparison. The only point for Seiko to win is the price, USD 1500 over the USD 2775 of Longines that you can save a lot of money and even buy one more watch. For the GMT function, as you said, it is depend on your use. If you are a stable people, not flying around , a caller GMT has no harm for you.

@@CuriusOdus11 agreed, well said.
This dude said the movement on longines is 3 secs and seiko 7 lol but rated it 8 vs 7. Subjectivity says you’re a seiko fan boy. Longines movement should 9 and seiko 5
This comparison is a joke...
It's clear that you didn't spend any time to actually hear what he said afterwards before writing down your thoughts if that's what you gathered from that section ...smh
Longines all the way… Seiko’s these days are pretending
The bias...😂
I don’t get your issue with a flyer gmt , changing the date is super easy , in every aspect flyer gmt make much more sens. It s like complaining having a to big engine on a car because there are speed limitations.
For design seiko for acurscy longines
Great comparison. Keep up the great vids!
