    I'm currently starting to get into Motion Graphics in DR and when I saw in the Livestream that the shape nodes were introduced I was freaking out! It is getting easier and easier

    Another workaround with the sEllipse issue is Writelength*(-1/360) in an Angle-expression.

    Thanks Jay for a wonderful video on DR17, as much as I would like to upgrade to 17, I'm holding off until they release a update. I think the vector shapes is a great tool.

    Nice video, good to see you are feeding back to BMD so hopefully these quirks can be ironed out. Apparently Fusion Studio will now work with a Resolve Studio key too which is awesome and I'm defo gonna have to try that out. Maybe you can do a comparison video showing performance levels between the two? I've heard standalone is a decent amount faster.

    Thanks Jay, very interesting, that's look exiting, circle length for instance may be used for a lot of tasks.
    My main questions are related to previous version projects when using third parties OFX, for instance BorisFX, I opened with DVR17 a DVR 16 project including BCC animations, I think something went wrong and I have got a DVR17 crash. Do that's mean DVR17 is no longer supporting external OFX, or does the OFX management has been changed ? In the first case we have to keep an old version of DVR, remove the OFX importing in DVR and redo the job. Not easy, but possible, If third parties OFX are no longer supported, it's definitively complicated. Any way, did you read something some where about OFX third party ?

    Masks on merge nodes combining shapes don't seem to work. But you can add them direct to the sRender notes. Trickiest bit for me is jogging through the timeline with sometimes doesn't work or stutters. If I delete a piece of footage and then try and move forward 3 frames there'll probably be a 5 second delay, then it'll move one frame.

    Hey, I am really trying to use DaVinci Resolve Fusion for creating some small animations directly in DaVinci Resolve, however I am hitting the performance issues that you described. I am on a PC and in the latest DaVinci Resolve Studio version 17.4.
    Are you facing similar issues?

    Quick question tho, where can I find the "documentation" you mentioned in the beginning of the video?

      In Resolve go to "Help" (at the top menus) and then the first one -> "Davinci Resolve Reference Manual"

    The most frustrating part of DRF right now is, besides the occasional crash, the lack of proper timeline and keyframe management. Offsetting a layer’s timing is twice as difficult as it is in AE. The current keyframe icon is unclear and hard to actual click on. I really want diamond icons for keyframes.

    • @JayAreTV
      @JayAreTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How so? Just the use the time stretch tool in the keyframes menu.

    • @tripplejaz
      @tripplejaz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JayAreTV So the limitation with this is you cannot (as of 16.2.7, or maybe it was just my one project) combine it with a Time Speed node. So if you offset with a Time Stretch then say animate the speed of the clip after it's offset, it was bugged every time I tried it. Otherwise, yes, this method is the way to go.

      For Davinci Resolve using Mac, place the cursor in the Node area, click COMMAND, and the mouse's middle scroll wheel increases or decreases the size of the nodes. Same goes for adjusting the size of the image that you see in the viewer(s). I'm not sure what the equivalent commands are for Windows PC.

      Depends on the size of your screen , I use DVR in both my pc and lap and j can clearly tell the difference.

    I tested dr17 for 2 hours, crashed 3 times and 3 freezes, unistalled and I will wait for beta 3, because I do not believe beta 2 will improve those to tons of bugs. But was expected, that was the biggest upgrade to Resolve. I tried send reports on resolve, but 2 times said Check my connection 😂, but one time it works, I be able to report some bugs I found.

      Worked with 17beta. Zero crashes except on the fusion page. Other than that is quite stable.

    how about importing vectors... like an eps. Any chance for this?

    • @bendesignsmedia
      @bendesignsmedia 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about EPS, but fusion has been able to import vectors as SVGs for a while now

    • @Schmidtelpunkt
      @Schmidtelpunkt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bendesignsmedia But not as a vector format. Essentially it was the same as rendering out a bitmap before using them, making the whole process a way to somehow use illustrator data, but not really improving the motion graphics workflow in a meaningful way.

    I don’t know if this is a waste of time this being a 2 yo video but you really seem to know what you’re doing. Can you turn a picture of your head into something resembling 3D?
