Thanks Frank for choosing to talk about this epic topic 😅 As an INFJ female married to an INFP male I will share few insights on our differences: 1. We don't argue often but when we do he tells me: "Chill down. I am like the reflection in the mirror. If you smile I will smile back at you" BUT the problem is when I turn on my "absorb his emotions" skill I just can't smile back because I already absorbed his pain/anger. He has to calm down first so I can absorb the good mood and move on. INFP are mirrors and INFJ are sponges. 2. He genuinely loves people and has faith in them and seems like he never learns when a friend disappoints him. I always end up telling him: "Can't you see this person is toxic and won't change?" and he is like: "Maybe but he's my friend." INFPs' kindness makes INFJs look like villains.😅My husband just can't door slam whereas I love doing it. There is a lot more to share but this comment is getting too long I don't know who's gonna read it 🤓
Would loooove to hear more from you on this if you ever feel like going deeper. Also in an INFJ + INFP relationship and totally relating to the first 2 points you've mentioned!
Amanda Masterson Thank you 😊 Below is one of our usual conversations. *Watching the news. Terrible things happened. INFP: I can't watch this crap. Only hypocrisy and injustice! My inner peace is disturbed.😢 INFJ: Brace yourself. There are worse things to happen. You will see.😏 INFP: How do you know that? 😮 INFJ: Well, history repeats itself..(speaks for an hour about past events and how they are all connected)💁♀️ INFP: That's scary. Are you sure? 🧐You are so dark! INFJ: The dark side clouds everything. I think INFPs are like children (in a good way) in terms of how they see the world. Very unaware of the dark side whereas INFJs like to know more about it you know "for research purposes only"😅
I did the test and the result was I'm infj and then i did the test again after 2 days and the result was I'm infp ?? I'm more confused nw i don't know what type i am and i rly wanna know
Ok..so, I really am not sure what I am.. INFP or INFJ..I hate conflict, love identity and values, but I also love pattern recognition.. it's like I am trying to build a system to my life that would be a holistic approach.. I love to categorize everything - love collections.. but in real life, my life and room is a mess - disorganised. Also, I absorb people's negative emotions so much, but I don't express it. Also, I am not direct in my expression at all and I am never controlling. Tested both INFP and INFJ at different times in my life.. so, am confused. I am guessing that I am probably INFP, but not sure. Oh, and I don't blame others for my failures, it's almost always something I did or said.
Andreea Pescar I’ve had this same issue. I’ve tested as an INFJ and as an INFP as well. On multiple tests at different times. Certain aspects of the INFP traits fit with my personality and certain traits of INFJ fits as well. But for the most part, I’ve tested mostly INFJ. Soooo... I have to say I’m INFJ ? Lol
@@stefanmirica6485 The reality is that these tests do not have scientific backing thus why they are not used s a scientific way to measure personality.....I love MBTI, but I would take the tests with a grain of salt. Only YOU truly know what you are. Although its great to have a label so that you can then relate to others using said label, try not to get too hung up on it. The reality is that although he acts like what he is saying is scientific, its not. These tests are THEORIES just like attachment theory. Here is a quote straight from Pychology today "The scientific study of personality is indeed a valid discipline, and there are many personality tests that seemingly hold up to scientific scrutiny (thus far). It just appears that MBTI isn't one of them"....so as much as this guy acts like what he is saying is fact, its not.
i feel the same but completely the opposite. i feel like i have no forward thinking but also absolutely no sense of identity. i enjoy building my identity myself but i also feel like i 100% lack the drive to do something if i can’t see some bigger picture but i feel like it’s not forward thinking that motivates me because i am SO last minute and URGGG i could rant for so much longer but gd i feel you :,)
I think this is exactly how I know I'm INFJ, I can't tell you how many times I get blank stares from my girlfriend when I go off on explaining my views on any sort of existential concept
yea i when a look back at what i said or type even after a 100 backspaces lol . i feel like it was a compilation video on a subject but is 3 related subjects now and how it all works and if your following me we now know the meaning of life...
The type of “changing personality over time” that I’ve seen most in my clients I believe has come from the traits that were taught from their parents early on. Say a mom with dominate Fe instills strongly in her daughter that taking care of the needs of others (in typical Fe fashion) is just the “right thing to do.” Then later in life she gets to know herself better and is actually Fi dominant. Her initial answers on the test may have been reflecting her typical actions, but it just took her a while to realize her brain has different preferences that are equally admirable. Her personality type didn’t change over time, but it took her a while to figure out and accept her own innate preferences.
I think this makes perfect sense, I sometimes get typed as INTJ (but more often as INFJ) and it used to confuse me, but then I realized that up until my mid-20s I used to act and think of myself more like INTJ, because that's how my (probably narcissistic) mother has raised me. Maturing and becoming more of my own person has proved to me that I'm rather INFJ
So instead of people changing their personality type over time they just mistype themselves? I find it's easiest to type myself by doing a lot of self reflecting and finding which type I decide I relate to the most instead of taking the test and relying on that to give me results since the results change so much. Like I was on meds for a long time so I was emotionless due to those meds and always mis typed myself as INTJ as well as the tests typed me that too but eventually after coming off those meds I really evaluated myself and how I am naturally and I relate so much more and feel much more connected to being an INFP as I learn about myself.
"It's difficult to explain right now, but just trust me, it makes sense." 😂 Sounds like me trying to explain a deep thing that I'm passionate about to most anyone (INFJ here).
Things I learned from this video: 1. You cannot be two types 2. You cannot change types, but rather develop your other functions 3. Vox literally does nothing, and I mean nothing right, not even MBTI.
INFJs are actually closer to INTJs than INFPs when it comes to functions. I have a friend who I clicked with instantly on so many levels and now I understand why because he is an INTJ.
I am married to an INTJ and we have been married for 11 years and this is not true lol. I love him and we def compliment eachother, but we are VERY different, especially in how we handle emotions....opposites in fact. INFJ's and INTJ's are exact opposites in how they communicate and express emotions.
Great video. I always was typed as an INFP when I was in High School. As an adult, I test as INFJ, and that type really fits better. I think it's easier to be mis-typed when you are young and still learning about yourself. I imagine this is why many people think they can change type. I also think some of the more empathic types can be influenced by others, not to the point of changing types, but in how they answer questions in a test. My sister is an INFP and introduced me to MyersBriggs, and I'm sure she influenced how I responded to test questions. Of course as I grew as a person, I became more self aware, enabling me to be more accurately typed. Maybe that's just me.
I found out I was an INFJ in 2014. I was kind of a doormat. I was depressed, lacked self esteem, I hated being in my own skin. I’ve worked hard on core-confidence and I’m truly happy with who I am in 2022. Always growing, but very happy. I found out last month I’m still an INFJ. I’m still awkward in all the right places, and I still make the jokes that no one gets. I blend into the wall more often than I’d like, so yeah… still an INfJ, but smiling a lot more and giving less f**ks xx
Funny I listened to another infj and left the comment. I love you. Just learned the girl I was in love with is a narcissist and going through break up phase. Finding my personality type and narcissists it gave me all that I needed.
Ok, but, I struggled so long since I originally took this test when I was 12 and still learning about myself and got typed as INFJ, however, 10 years later I keep getting INFP In so many ways the two types are alike, that’s for sure; coke and Pepsi like Frank mentioned. But what really helps me distinguish myself and accept that I’m an INFP is my inability to “emotionally door slam” like the INFJ. INFP’s are more of a “leave the door slightly ajar just in case people change or the environment changes, or in case it’s a mistake, or in case they need us” lol
That's true. I've been told I'm an idiot several times because i don't slam the door and it seems like i just can't stop no matter how many times i tell myself that's the right thing to do, that's just one voice, there are 38399227 other voices that don't fail to tell me all the possible mishaps that could happen for the one I'm slamming the door on.
The door slam is just one of the things that could help you pinpoint a type (infj in this case). I think with infp and infj being so similar in a lot of ways, it's more about who do you resonate more with - so out of 10 situations would you instinctively, naturally act as an infj (or infp) in 6 or more? And I feel like that can change as well... ....or there might be things that you don't accept about yourself that make you want to change and in case of an infj I feel it might be the easiest way to change towards beconing this slightly less cold, volatile creature, infp? I'm not that deep in the mb topic but I feel its not exactly like learning a new way to do something, I feel it's more like listening to you second thoughts and eventually internalising that voice as your primary way to think about things... So maybe you were an infj and now you're infp? And maybe in x years something or someone will eventually trigger your door slam and you might slowly revert or change again? Do what makes you happy and don't let anyone define you xx If you read about the mbti, hope it helps you understand yourself better, but don't let it confuse you xx
I'd love an in depth video solely about the INFJ demon function and patterns of weaknesses/problems. That's the aspect of typing that has helped me most but I have a long way to go... Understanding my dominant way of thinking/feeling/experiencing the world has helped me enormously over the last year. It helped me see the damaging patterns in my relationship but also be more compassionate in accepting the clash of different personalities on an essential, non-blaming level. I don't feel constrained by the notion of being an INFJ. I see it as a useful tool to aid self-examination and self-improvement. The gift of this comment section is that you can see the positive traits of INFJs in action 🙂❤️ (I'm really sorry if I've missed replying to people recently. it sounds like you are using the knowledge you've gained from personality typing in a healthy way! i know many people use it as an excuse to never improve, which kinda defeats the purpose. good luck with your move! i know that is one of life's biggest pains in the patootie.

@@creepy_assassin6234 infps are dope...... If we had more infps this world would be a better place. You should love the fact that your sensitive because that sensitivity gives us the power to read people easily. We have a douche-mometer. Plus everyone has a type my sister and brother are ENFP, & ENFJ and they absolutely love introverts they find their awkwardness cute. And infps are hella smart we can be just as smart as an intj (aka elon musk, mark zukerberg) because we're rational feelers. Loving yourself is a process but once you get there it's absolutely amazing (talking from experience ). You've literally done nothing wrong to treat yourself like that.
I took a random mbti test online website and got INFP. My P percent was 51% and J was 49 percent. At fist I totally agree because I have many things related to INFP like always daydream a lot, overthinking, preferred hiding feelings and keep things private, love helping others and think too positive sometimes. The only thing that I can be related to INFJ is l always plan things out and want things to be settled. My life is scheduled and I have strict daily routine (which can be flexible sometimes). After I notice that many people mistyped as INFP and starting being curious and took mbti test again but in different website from the one I took before. The website have only 2 choices to choose (the previous one was strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly agree and neutral) I got INFJ. That made me start being confused about my personality type. When watch Frank James’s videos and look at mbti meme and I still think I’m related to INFP not INFJ. Thank you so much Frank James for making this video and making me know that when you got the result as a personality type doesn’t mean you have to fit with "all" that personality type’s characteristics. There can be differences based on each person’s lifestyle, culture, family backgrounds, ideologies, personal interest, jobs and how you grow up and many other external factors. I also realize that even though I like planing, I find it difficult for me to get things done as I have planned sometimes and I sometimes flexible to my routine. Also for my dad, he’s an introvert but his job makes him can be very confident in social situations and not being afraid of talking to a lot of people. He’s very great at working as teams and also can deal with people easily. He has a lot of friends and love hanging out with them very often but he just feel more comfortable when he’s alone.
You can be INFJ and live in your own little fantasy world 24/7... and as a result believe you are INFP. But only INFJ would dream they were both, no INFP would ever wish they were INFJ, and thus you have your answer. Also, only INFJ has the capacity to blend their compassion to become everyone, and have appreciation and love for every personality type. But then again, this is our sole unique gift, and why we are INFJ in the first place.
Allie B Yes but I'd be INFP to make life easier, not because I look up to them. May sound mean but it isn't. I look up to INTJs as well but rather not be one of them.
Kovacs Bea - How come you think it'd be easier as an INFP? Is it 'cause their 'S' function is higher up than INFJs'? I think they also have a lot of problems trying to fit into the sensory world but they don't feel 'detached' from it as INFJs do - more that they wonder where they fit in.
I’ve done Myers-Briggs Test roughly 4 years ago and has been an INFJ throughout the years until just recently. I was shocked to learn that I have turned into an INFP. I’m unsure if the questions on the test has ever changed but I feel it has something to do with outgrowing a certain flaw. As a previous INFJ, I’ve always been an absorbent sponge towards other people’s feelings and thus often get effected by them. I guess as time has passed, I learned how to outgrow my weakness and gain more boundaries towards feeling other people’s feelings too much. It’s also as a protective shield for thinking more about how I feel first before dealing with another person’s. Not only that, I probably learned to be more like myself, which is an INFP. Therefore, the test can also serve as an effective tool to grow and improve yourself as you go, so I have never imagined that I could change in a span of 4 years!
I just started watching the video but came here to find this comment. I had the exact same thing happen and I think that when I was going through a lot of emotional transformations (trauma and healing) I was way more sensitive "absorbant" of other's emotional energy. It seems like when I'm in a transformational/more emotionally motivated course. I've always flip-flopped over the years. When I'm doing "better" or am more firm with my boundaries and stable in my sense of self I test as an INFP. I test more often as INFJ but thought (because I have been actively healing my trauma) that I was a jerk because I don't seem to feel as empathetically drawn to fixing "wounded birds" as I used to be. Glad I'm not the only one that has experienced this confusion. 😅
Hey just saw this comment and it’s lovely to know your side of a similar story too! I believe our personality changes based on time and maturity. I’m glad to see my personality is more accurate now. Thanks for sharing!
What I mean by transparency is: does trauma effect an INFJ By acting with a P instead of a J and vice versus for an INFP. In other words, does judgement and perception get clouded when trauma becomes involved for the INFJ?
Thank you so much for answering my question. I grew up as an INFP During years of abuse and changed to INFJ after starting to heal and recover. I’m glad that ones personality is fluid and can change during times of crisis to adapt. It makes you wonder who we really are as people on this earth. I hope your journey of healing continues. Thank you for being an awesome individual.
This is a little bit old but I wanted to weigh in. I'm very in the middle of J and P, possibly leaning bit J. I think that in general mental illness has made me more J, since I struggle very badly with anxiety and the feeling of not knowing what will happen. Trauma has also made me resentful and a massive people pleaser, which are very INFJ thing. However, I also struggle a lot with the classic INFJ "door slam" (boundaries? who's she), and while I enjoy planning and scheduling I struggle to enact them and tend to just do whatever I want to do at any given moment. So while I think abuse made me start to lean INFJ, it definitely introduced some more INFP behaviors. I could think of more examples but I'm tired hah
Makes sense, thanks for clarifying. Just learning and definitely saw that I had some of both INFP/INFJ qualities, but now I see what I've developed over the years versus what is natural. MBTI seems like a great tool for practicing self awareness.
"the best thing is just to say all the bad stuff and when you feel more embarrassed then maybe that your type" hahahaha that so funny, you videos are the best.
I realized that my answers to some of the important questions were very much influenced by how I've been raised, my shoulds rather than my coulds. Frank, it's been fun thinking that I had something in common with one so awesome as yourself and your followers, but recently I'm figuring out more who I really am, an INFP. Knowing that about me is going to help me to work with my actual wiring instead of the wiring that I think I should have. I hope you don't mind if I continue to lurk here just for the sheer pleasure of your company. Love and peace, Annie
I understand that everyone says you cant switch types. All I know is that I was an INFJ most of my life. Every time I took the test I was consistently rated as an INFJ. I have no reason to lie. Thirteen years ago I hit an emotional wall in life due to unaddressed early childhood trauma. Ended up in the hospital in in-patient care, then out-patient care. Then ten years of therapy. I am a different person with different motivations. I not longer get satisfaction from planning, pre-planning, post-planning. I no longer derive my satisfaction only at the end of a project. My natural thought processes aren't hyper sensitive to what others feel. I am now for open with my thoughts. I live in the moment and am spontaneous. I enjoy the journey of a project and get satisfaction in the middle. When I take the test now I get a consistent read of INFP. Can prescription meds and therapy give a false read?
This is how i am today. It makes sense that we get INFP now because we're trying to change some of the fundamental qualities of being an INFJ which i have to admit is almost necessary if you want to feel more free as an INFJ in life. We're still an INFJ but we have learnt, (key word learnt) to live another way that is contrary to how we usually or naturally would. You can learn to speak French, doesn't mean you're from France, if you get what I mean.
yea meds can change you some some time they up your filter some knock it down if i drink a lil bit i can be more spontaneous and not spend the whole time feeling what evey one is and just talk n stuff but i need content not to much small talk i want to just to whats up with black holes or something deep
Oh, I’m sure they can change your personality. I think you’re one type the whole time.. it’s confusing. I hope you are doing well, you’ve been through a lot. I still don’t know what type I am..
I'm definitely just as much INFP as I am INFJ. I don't fit into any other personality type at all, only those two. But those two fit me so perfectly, depending on what is said about them. I get INFJ in most tests, and I definitely have all of the spirituality, the self-sacrifice, the empathy, the deep emotions. But I also hate following a schedule, and I hate routine and tradition. I get extremely obsessed with the person I love to the point where I need to be with them 24/7 and nothing else matters to me. Everything is about people, and my relationships with them. But I get INFJ 4/5 times and INFP the rest. Even using only the videos on this channel, I could be either INFJ or INFP depending on which video I'm watching. I have a very strong sense of identity. I have always known myself, my values, and my principles. And I don't go against them no matter the circumstances. But I still always put others first, and see the good in everyone, always able to see them for who they are. I can't say I'm more one than the other. I'm an INFJ who feels more like an INFP with every video I watch. I just have qualities of both, and they are just as strong and just as natural to me as each other.
Always take these tests with a grain of salt! But it's fun to explore these theories, the test was accurate about the patterns of my personality :) and I think it was useful for me to start having more interest in psychology. I guess humans love to type, in general, because it's simple and practical. I think we all win for discussing more. The topic of this video is a thing I've been "shallow" thinking the last 2 months. Thanks!
You’re right, I went through a phase when I thought I was an INXJ. As an INTJ I struggled with relationships because of my weakness in the feeling function, so I worked really hard to develop better empathy. I ended up getting clinically depressed eventually and came back to MBTI at around the same time because my Battalion Commander wanted everyone in our unit to take the test. I tested INFJ then but still identified better as a INTJ, so I thought I might have changed myself into an INXJ. Now that I understand the underlying functions better, there’s no doubt I’m an INTJ who just went a little too far trying to develop an inferior function. It’s good that I’m capable of being less of an asshole now and know better how to respond to other people’s pain, but I’m still happier and at my best when I’m either in my own world (Ni which we have in common) or when I’m communicating the seemingly cold hearted Te truth.
I took multiple tests online and got varying results. It showed that I exhibit both the characteristics of being an INFJ and INFP thus acquiring both the personalities. Now I'm confused and started to question myself who I really am. Can you please make a short skit about these two personalities only? Much appreciated, Frank James. Love from the Philippines! 🇵🇭❤️
Thank you, thank you. Yours is a voice of reason and clarity. This guy gets it and all of this needed to be said and repeated. It's not about personalities, it's about preferred or default ways of handling information. People are taking the MBTI and treating it like horoscopes or personality disorders and giving it far more power and meaning than was ever intended. Keep doing this. People don't realize that although there are 16 macro types, within each of those types are infinite possible ways of blending. It's like a left-handed person can train himself to use his right hand more often, he's still left-handed, and his natural inclination will be to use his left hand. This is a great video. I'd stay away from the language of "demon functions" and talk more about dominant or preferred vs secondary or unused. Something like that.
Agreed, a lot of the questions can be answered very differently depending on how you look at it. Like... "Do you struggle with saying No to people?" With strangers or people I'm not close with, absolutely not. With people I love, definitely.
I always score INFP but before taking the test, I saw a video about INFJ and I’m like this is definitely me but ended up scoring INFP. I think I am an INFP but I can relate so much with INFJS- like reading others like a book and absorbing other people’s emotions. I also love theories and learning new information in general and I just be “knowing things too” and I am extremely analytical and I am pretty good at math and I hate small talk. But I am also in my head a lot to the point I miss things right in front of me and hit myself a lot (extremely clumsy), empathetic, love nature, and I am extremely creative ( I write poetry) and I also look at things(problems) from all the different angles ( logical but also not logical), I follow my own idea of principles/ morals and always do what feels “right” to me. I need to find a job that satisfies me but that also helps the world in any way and people always feel better after they’ve spoken to me- I can truly nurture someone emotionally and I am a nonconformist too. I love psychology. I find humans and animals fascinating. Overall, I have had issues knowing who I am as a person because I feel like I am a lot of things. Sometimes I want to know so bad and identify myself as one thing but then sometimes I am happy and enjoy the fact that I can’t be put into a box. I love being unique/ different. Soo yea Do I sound like an INFP or INFJ ??? :) can anyone tell me?
Wow! This is just like me. I read the descriptions of each personality type and definitely thought that I was an INFJ, but I always ended up scoring as an INFP on the test. still can't decide which one I am 🤷♀️
I agree for the most part, although I think you're a little too beholden to the MBTI model overall. All models are just representations of reality, and all models break down at some point - at some level of scrutiny. MBTI is not a perfect representation of reality; it's just a model. But a good model still has tremendous explanatory power, and MBTI is a pretty good model (although I prefer going purely by functions). I'm an INTP who typed consistently as INTJ for the first 24 years of my life (and who sometimes "mistypes" as an INFP now due to a pronounced Fi function). IMHO I am inclined to believe that if I was answering the MBTI questions in earnest prior to age 24 and I typed as an INTJ, then I was an INTJ then. If I answer the questions in earnest and type as an INTP now, then I'm an INTP. But I agree that while it's possible to vacillate between INFJ and INFP in terms of your test results, they're really very different types. If you're "changing types" on a weekly basis the results are probably a failing of the testing methods more than anything.
Did you watch the video at all? Why take a model, then don't listen to what it describes and make it into whatever you want? If a test says you're another type than your initial one, it's a fault of the test. It's meant to give you a hint and does not a result that is the ultimate unchanging truth. If a took a test that said I'm a girl initially, then later said I'm a guy, I wouldn't say, hey guys I'm a guy now lol the idea of being one gender doesn't actually hold water. It just means that time, I answered the guy measuring questions more strongly than the girl measuring questions. A test doesn't hand you the ultimate, golden, holy unchanging truth.
@@PeaceLilies03 I find it hard to believe that people's cognitive functions don't evolve to some degree as they age. Most people at age 25 are not the same person they were at 15. Our brains are still developing. I don't approach rational thinking or emotional experiences or in general tackle life the same way I do now at 26. My life IS completely different. Edit: Therefore, as to Kelsey's point, if MBTI doesn't adjust at all then it is reasonable to doubt how well it functions as a representation of reality. Five or so years ago I typed as INTP. I now type as INTJ (consistently, on multiple sources and on tests that specifically test whether one is INTP or INTJ)...and it makes sense, because I have grown into a more decisive person, I have recognized and developed my sensitive Fi, and am more strategic as opposed to tactical (logical) with my Te. And yes...people can be one gender. People ARE one gender until they personally decide otherwise. Non sequitur tumblr-science comparison. Please note: my argument doesn't apply to day-to-day results being inconsistent. That's just an inconsistent person.

I’m still kinda struggling over finding which inf I am but I’ve had a longer time have the mindset of being an INFJ but I’ve always related to A LOT of INFP things but this video gives me an understanding that I can be an INFJ with INFP similarities or vice-versa
Your frustration amuses me because you're right and I understand that frustration. Nothing is perfect but the bracket exists for a reason. You may have moments you do something that is "out of character" but the core most of the time traits are generally the same.
I think it is possible to outgrow our types. If you compare: INFJs are stubborn, They are born with a boxes in their head, they know which toys goes to which box INFPs are like the clutter in the floor figuring it out all the time By continuous experience INFPs learn to group the clutter in the floor even making invisible boxes for them While INFJs learned that clutter can be necessary too, and leaving things without putting them in the box can also be an option That's it. I hope that helps
As an infp my feelings were always a priority I even thought I had ocd. So I'm sure I'm an infp. I can go against the world if I believe in something. Other times I'm shy or disinterested and to others I look arrogant bc I'm always doing my own thing in my own world. So I try to smile and I'm learning to comunicate better.
When I first took the test 5 years ago I was INFJ. This year I took the test again and I'm an INFP. Took it again recently and still INFP. Our personality types are mainly based on our upbrining and trauma personalities, therefore we can change from one to another. Edit: as suspected when I took it again the other day I was suddenly ENFJ. I just think these tests are not really broad enough to capture every aspect of a person and as our brain changes throughout our life nothing is definite
Sorry, that's not how it works. We are all born with a dominant function which starts to mature around 5. Our second function starts to mature when we're around 12. Our third function matures when we're around 20. Our fourth function matures when we're around 30-35. They are always there and we can tap into them, but they get more mature and start to balance us out as we learn to use them properly. We all have the other 4 functions too, but they are incredibly weak and never fully develop, but rather sneak up on us from time to time. The tests don't account for mental health, trauma, etc so it's very likely you were mistyped back then and when you healed from your past you we're in a healthier place to make a proper judgement on your answers. The first four functions of INFP and INFJ are literally completely different. INFP - FiNeSiTe and INFJ - NiFeTiSe. Your brain can't suddenly shift the entire way it functions. That would be like receiving a brain transplant. Also, fact to note, a lot of people with trauma and high levels of anxiety incorrectly type as INFJ because many tests skew those "personality traits" in it's favour, but that's leading into stereotypes which is how most tests are designed.
@@benjaminfast5496 I disagree. The brain continues to change throughout our life. It's called neuro plasticity. Trauma definitely affects the personality especially when it's developmental trauma.
I love your analogies... especially your Blue man group one.lol! You are naturally hilarious while at the same time, being highly informative. Love your channel! Thanks for all you put into it.
Thx. I'm stuck in a weird loop where I'm too trapped in my own world atm & sometimes I'm not sure if I'm not an INFJ but an INFP. It angers me that I might be an INFP, but that's probably just a symptom of this stage in my healing journey in retirement. You remind me of what I would look like as a guy with better parents. You make me laugh almost as much as I laugh at myself everyday. TY for being here.🙏😂
I mean, you can't fluctuate between the two types like that because they have their cognitive functions differently placed BUT you do use your shadow functions when stressed! ENFP may not be the shadow mbti of an INFP (it's actually enfj) but I do understand you totally haha. So you might be more people orientated when manic and then when you return back to your ordinary form you might be more self orientated (not selfish, just focus on yourself more).
I agree with you 100% that you can't change your MBTI type by time or development, but I do think an MBTI can change in situations where they suffered a traumatic brain injury or a major life or death crisis can change the wiring of the brain and behavior. I experienced this myself. I tested INTJ for many years and then after a near death crisis for me in the hospital where they even called a priest into my room to prepare me for passing away, after coming out of that and completely seeing life differently as a person, I started taking the MBTI test again and have tested INFJ ever since and that was in 2013. I was completely honest every time I took it and I still take it twice a year on average and I still am testing INFJ.
Really appreciate the video! I've tested for INFP and INFJ literally equally and it always confused me before. I knew that the system was a little flawed before and I'd like to know what kind of test you think is the best to clarify, if any. I understand that these things don't really determine every fiber of your being, of course. Just curious.
1)The Personalityhacker.com test is the most accurate. Still is not perfect. 2)Make sure you follow the instructions as to how to answer the questions. 3) After you do the test and you get your result read the personality description. Try to figure out if you feel is 100% you. Read also the others personality descriptions. 4)If you are not sure ,last thing to do is to start studying the different functions (especially defining your inferior function is really gonna help) OR if you have money to spend go to a professional. Me personally I kind of delved into functions and now I can tell pretty easily the differences. Hope this helped:)
The reason for this is because these tests are not 100% accurate (which is why these tests are widely not accepted as fact by any psychologist or psychological organization). Don't get me wrong, I love Myers Briggs tests and think that they are super useful, but don't get too caught up in what the tests tell you. There are many questions on those tests that can be vague and although they will ask the same question in several different ways to avoid error in that way, it doesn't always work. A great scientific way to do it is to take roughly 4-6 DIFFERENT MBTI tests and you will def get one of the types more often than the other. The most accurate site in my opinion is humanmetrics.
Sonia Di I've taken several tests before and they gave me different results every time. It was either INFP, ISFJ or ISFP. But I always thought that I was an INFJ, because it was the one that most suited me... I did the test you've sent and it says me that I'm INFJ... Should I believe it? 😅
the most accurate way to figure out your type isnt to take a test, those will always be flawed. find someone whos skilled at typing people and get a typing directly from them
I took the test and got INFP but months later I asked my intuition and got INFJ! lol! It really doesn't matter to me, I can't even remember the differences between them. 🥰
I've suffered with depression most of my life and when it's hitting hard, my answers to the questions are definitely skewed. I think there are a lot of depressed people these days and seems to me that would lend itself to a lot of INF-
I love your humour that comes out every so often and the way I can see your complex thoughts 🥰 I absolutely agree with you and love the way you describe it.
I took the mbti test several times and keep getting different results. I have such a hard time answering the questions. Mainly cause it depends on my mood and the context of the situation. Also I am such a contradiction. Has anyone else had this experience?
I have a hard time taking it Yes, but I usually get the same result"INFP" but the thing is I really don't see myself there as the stereotypical INFP, I'm sure I'm Ne and Fi but not sure which one is more dominant , I don't feel like a very principal driven person, I dunno
J your like me but I always come with INFJ simply because “we” (hate bieng exclusive like that) but we can imitate ALL 16 types and we are the only ones that can do it.......plus if you have a mood disorder like I do you could obtain many different results but if you stay true to who you know you are “That’s your Type”
Mariam El-Nazer if you go with your feelings about decisions in life even though you still use Logic in cases you are probably an INFJ but you must have (inferior Fe “extroverted feeling and dominant Ni Introverted Intuition) the J for living your life in a more “structured” way like the house needs to be neat and tidy and you generally don’t like mess because it interferes with bieng able to use your dominant Ni ect
This happened with my INFP friend cause she had a had very rigid set of rules I should say... I would suggest that you decide most of the questions based on what the questions actually imply rather than the context given. Like for example when the test asks if you want to be the centre of attention in a party, don't think about the fact that it's different if it's a party with strangers or that you would behave differently if they were your family. Instead understand that they implied whether you want to interact with people most of the time or if you prefer your own company. And if you are actually comfortable being the centre of attention. I think that helps a lot in helping you discover yourself.
@@Jelly-hq7ug Then we are three now Got tested several times as a INFJ 48% - INFP 52 % Sometimes can relate to be more P ( fun situations and light feelings ) and sometimes more J ( tough situations and serious mind )
@@tsl7804 maybe lol haha. I'm not as free spirited though.. so the INFJ is way more me now I think it through. Haha I remember wanting to be an INFP so bad too😂
Just recently had this conversation with a friend who thought she had changed her personality type. And told her the same as what you are saying here, you can improve on your faults and have some growth as you mature but your personality never really changes. You didn’t change what your mind does naturally and automatically, you’ve just made yourself more conscious of your natural tendencies and still have to put in work to go against those natural tendencies. If that makes sense lol
Pretty sure I’m two types and it’s been helpful to me so far because the struggles and strengths of each type were both things I connected to. I think I can apply the advice from both. I think I don’t fit perfectly into any category, and I don’t think I’m special for that. I think most people don’t fit into one type perfectly, as this video acknowledges there are overlaps, and some people maybe just have more noticeable overlaps. I think I could just pick a type but I feel like wilfully ignoring that another type fits me too just because it’s apparently not supposed to would be a silly decision. I’m apparently INFJ and ISFJ, and I’m open to the possibility there’s been a mistake and I maybe fit perfectly into a category and maybe the category I fit is neither of those. But they both make sense to me. I’ve been deliberately reading about the differences but the differences are often unclear. Like, apparently one type is supposed to focus on the big picture and the other on details. I’m not sure why I’m supposed to clearly prefer one to the other. It can be nice to look at the big picture, daydream about long term goals or how I would like the world to be, to strive to change systems in society for the better. It can be nice to focus on the details, to focus on editing someone’s writing, to focus on tweaking things rather than redesigning things, to focus on the smell of a rose rather than taking in the full garden. I think there’s the suggestion you either miss the forest for the trees or you get so caught up on the forest you forget to consider those individual trees. There are places suggesting you have to either be empathetic and creative, or logical and practical. I’m not seeing why these are meant to be contradictions, as some places suggest. I value data and making decisions in response to what is known, but I’m also often looking at how to innovate and what could be done in future. I struggle with a lack of structure and I also need room for creativity and to feel I have meaningful purpose. The profession I’m drawn to is teaching. Working in a highly structured work environment that requires a lot of data collection and responding to data. It also requires the ability to respond in the moment to unexpected changes (which is stressful but things not going to plan is always going to involve some level of stress, particularly when you’re legally responsible for others), and adapt lessons on the fly where needed. I’m also required to look long term and plan units that prepare students to be well-rounded people. I need to be able to look at the larger picture. I innovate in practice by responding to data collected. I feel like a lot of the traits being presented as if contradictions are in fact not. So maybe I’m just being mistyped and actually fit perfectly into one of 16 categories that all ~8 billion people in this world fit satisfyingly into. Or maybe these tests are just useful tools for analysing yourself and if you’re able to find useful advice from multiple typings then that means the test worked for you. I think that, when it comes to personality tests, what matters most is that I’m a Hufflepuff.
INFJ: Excellent description of this personality, same personality with different flavors LOL.. As a mature INFJ we/me stop worrying about trying to fix stupid..
You are so right about the Meyers Briggs test. 10 years ago when I took it, I was convinced that I was an ENFP I took some classes in Jungian personality type and learned that indeed I am an ENTJ. I think my psyche wanted to be an ENFP!
The last time I took the test, I had _four_ different types but lo and behold, I managed to narrow it down to INFJ and INFP as the types I related to the most. I relate to so many pieces of each of those types and I’m just trying to figure out which of those types I am and so that’s why I say that I’m INFJ and INFP because I’m in the middle of trying to figure out which of those I am
I've noticed that many people answer this tests according to who they want to be.. Not for who they really are. They're not being honest with them selves or have no self insight. FPs also tent to look up to FJs. And I guess wishing to be FJs. But It's pretty funny when you mention special.. all the FJs that I met always mention how rare they are! But also my ex FJ boyfriend was the most humble man I've ever known. I'm a very typical FP. Never doubted it, and proud of it.
Bimsy Firefly a true INFJ won’t tell you that they are one unless asked or are forced to admit it,because feeling so out of place and misunderstood to an INFJ isn’t something they want to let everyone know.(INFJ’s just......are) so all those you have met who say how “rare they are” are either self centred or are just “wannabees”.
Your explanation reminded me of my struggle to change my personality. For 30 years I tried to become an extrovert, and one day I woke up and realized I will never be an extrovert no matter how much I wanted to change. But I can become the most extroverted introvert possible as long as it doesn't drain me and cause me to become depressed. Thank you for your videos.
The thing is, last time I took the test I ended up very definitively INF, but I was 51% J and 49% P. So yeah I'm right on the border. I think as I get older though I'm becoming more INFP, because I used to score much higher on the J.
I was getting more INFJ, and sometimes INTJ in different tests so I made a list of questions and I linked it with how I was in my childhood and I asked my family about the different events that happened when I was young because I didn't want them to know about me learning typically and I got answers for most of the question... I think when you are young you are not influenced by the world because you are protected by your family so you will understand what personality you are born with from your childhood batter then when you are grown-up After all that I retook the tests and answered according to how I was in my childhood and now I know my type and it is INFJ I hope this helps ☺️
I truly enjoy your videos, I first took the MBTI about 30 years ago when it was administered by a co-worker who had been certified to administer the test. He determined that I was an ENFJ, albeit showing more signs of I than E. I later completed the KTS and found that I was an INFJ. I repeated the test maybe a dozen or so times, just for fun, since - and consistently came back as INFJ. However, I recently completed the test and scored INFP, I thought that maybe I had answered a question or two erroneously, yet repeated attempts at the test on different platforms showed me to be a INFP. I do have a background in psychology and studied psychometrics in University, so I am familiar with biases and how question presentation can lead people to answer differently - which is why I tried several platforms. Keep up the good work, it is fun, entertaining, and educational to take a look at how our main functions help us to perceive ourselves and the world around us.
I am an INFJ and love seeing how others are strong where I am weak. My son is 8 and though I don't know his type he definitely seems to be a strong Se. We go on a hike and I am carefully and slowly navigating my steps and my son is like a mountain goat. It's like he doesn't even have to think about it. I think it is good to see where one is weak and try to develop it.
I think what happens is the INFP inferior functions are more logical and control orientated. And when those are present or are showing it's easy for INFPs to think they're INFJ. However I was in an abusive relationship and tested myself shortly afterwards and got INFJ. It's interesting because I was robbed of a lot of the INFP and was surviving on my inferior functions which brought out a mixed result. After some recovery I was back at INFP. That's key. ESTJ can appear to be INFJ in a test if the inferior functions are dominating you at that moment. And mostly that's when you're in an unhealthy state of mind. (Not saying INFJs are unhealthy lol!! but a different result might occur because of other factors).
@@codeN_8 I'm saying one aspect of it might become more dominant and so when you take a test you might answer a question differently than if you were in INFP flow thus getting a different test result. The INFP is just an example but it could go for any of the types.
I'm the same way, almost half and half. just remember each of these letters is "preferences" so even if you're 51/49 your preference is the 51%. It doesn't mean you're incapable of doing the other things. Also, the test is flawed, it can't get every person exactly right, and sometimes it's hard to really be honest with yourself when answering the questions. That's why technically with myers briggs you're supposed to have an expert analyze it, so you're not self-analyzing, cause then this happens.
I'm still finding it hard to determine my personality type I got 51% judging and 49% prospecting. Pretty close, I feel like some things from both types resonate with me. I came across another youtube video about these diffrences, he gave an example of hosting a party, infj would greet people and make sure they are welcome, while an infp would study them from afar and make welcoming gestures. I very rarley just go up and talk to people, could it just be high anxiety, thus just another varient of infj type? Hope that made sense.
I realize this was written a year ago, but I’m on a personality type binge. In short, the test you used is shit. The difference between an INFJ and an INFP is more than J vs P. They literally share no functions, so it’s weird there are tests designed that way. INFPs are Fi Ne Si Te and INFJs are Ni Fe Ti Se. A ESTJ shares more functions with an INFP than an INFJ. Actually ESTJs share all the functions that INFPs have in opposite order.
You shouldn't be able to test that closely. No test should function that way. If it does, it shows flaws in the test. For that matter, all tests are pretty flawed.
It’s not about judging vs. perceiving. INFJs, XSTPs and ENFJs have the exact same functions in different orders (Ni, Fe, Ti, Se). INFPs are the reverse and not even in a complimentary shadow way as with ENFPs (another type quite similar to INFJs). I know you look at the two acronyms and think that only the judging vs. perceiving functions are different but the differences go still deeper than that (ever-so).
lmao, this is beautiful. I actually thought this way for a teeny little bit of time because of my own struggle typing myself. it makes me cringe now. it took me months to figure out which type I truly was, and sometimes I still wonder if I really am INFJ or if I'm just fooling myself. I used to be so dang confused between ISFJ and INFJ and I know that sounds crazy because of the cognitive function line-ups but oOf, my two best friends were split between thinking what I am and I'm just likE HELLO IDK WHICH I RELATE TO MORE. but yeh, I did some hella deep research two months ago and finally figured out INFJ was at my core; my Si really wasn't as high as I thought it was. also, *cough* I had been typed by the official and many other tests as INFJ tons of times, like and if that's not a sign idk what is. ofc, can't trust those fully, but still. :,,)
I’ve taken the Myers Briggs multiple times over my lifetime. 20s. 30s. 40s. And at 52 I can state for a fact, I’ve consistently been INFJ. I Have grown and matured BUT I’ve always been INFJ.

God, you're so funny and direct. I absolutely love the way you explain things but my favourite is you're sense of humor. I cannot find the proper words to perfectly describe what I mean 😂.
I've taken the test a few times over the years, I always land on INFJ, but on the test where it shows the percentage, my J is low single digits. I don't remember them all, but the last time I took the test, it was a couple of percent. It's always J, but it's right there at the edge. I've watched a few of these videos talking about the differences, and I've found that I can identify with some of both of the examples, it just depends on mood....and now that I'm internally proofreading, it seems mostly attached to feelings of depression, or emotional stress. Now, I'm not one of those people who's trying to be some kind of weird multiple, I do consider myself very much INFJ, it just seems like in moments of sadness or depression, (as a male, I joke about my monthly cycle, but that's the closest example that's easy to describe) some of the behaviors discussed in the INFP videos pop out. So, I guess it's a question that I have, really. This video does help, and I'm glad to hear honestly that you can't really be both. Makes me wish whichever part of the test was responsible for determining that J and P difference was 10 times longer and more thorough, perhaps I could more readily understand why I feel sorry for broken electronics when I'm depressed, and more anxious to shop for repair parts when I'm not.
I agree completely. I took the MBTI when I was 20 or 21. I am 44 now. I mistyped as INTJ. The description didn't make sense in many ways and I didn't look further. I took some different tests several years ago and typed as INFJ which made much more sense. I still like to read about the INTJ type because in a few ways I can relate. Demon functions? Lol. I guess mine would be E.
Nikki Docherty I typed INTJ, but every time I tried to get on a forum or whatnot, around other INTJs, I’d get creamed in thirty seconds flat. So... not INTJ. That’s how I knew.
@@wildrabbit1314 , I haven't ever been on an MBTI forum. This comment section is the closest to discussion I've ever had on the subject. When I was 20 and took the MBTI and scored as an INTJ, I was around someone who definitely had strong T, but I don't know their actual type. Me, being a feeling type who was about 6 years younger, and a bit impressionable then, i am pretty sure i was feeling his thinking functions, (INFJ empath). I believe this is why I mistyped. At least that's my theory. I am definitely INFJ. I have strong self preservation, strong individuality, highly principled, easily feel/relate to others, but harder to extrovert those feelings unless I am comfortable with it. I want to do good for everyone and simultaneously feel some caution about getting too involved in many situations. Reserved but open minded.
Nikki Docherty I could see that. My dad is ALL about logic so my thinking preference might be stronger than it would have had I not been raised by a Vulcan.
@@wildrabbit1314 , I can relate. I have strong logic also. I am strong in imagination and therefore my sense of reality is also heightened. Imaginative types can either be very realistic as well or completely lost. I am the realistic imaginative type. I have been around some very manipulative types in my lifetime. I find manipulation repulsive and detestable. They utterly deny my empathy simply because I don't allow them to abuse it. Its all about cutting off that cycle of manipulation and attempt at control. I stick to my own plans, ideas, beliefs, principles while remaining open to reconsidering if it is called for. Lol. My parents aren't treckies. They watch Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
Nikki Docherty I’ve never seen either of those shows. Lol. Most everyone is manipulative, it seems. I think they believe it’s the only way they will ever get their needs met in life. Sad, really.
When I’m drunk I’m an ESFP! 😜. But I got sober and now I’m an INFJ... or P... 😳. Believe you me I don’t think I’m special, just absolutely confused. I don’t really want to be either type. I’d rather fit into the world-be more driven to succeed-or at least be able to work for “the man”, care more about the “bottom line” and just not worry about all the sh*# that gets to me about the f’d up people and systems and motivations in the world. I really wish I could go back to the mothership (Starship Enterprise 😏) where we do things that make sense-technology, art and progress for the common good, acceptance of individual strengths, with a clear mission!!!
You say that INFP/J types think they are special, but actually, it is possible in taking the test to be borderline between P and J. And it is possible to take the test one day and score as J and another day and score as P. This happened to me. The first time I took the test, I scored P, but more recently I scored J. In another personality test whose name I can't remember, I also was borderline in some area of the test. It used colors and in one area I should have been blue or green but was actually somewhere between. I don't think I'm special (no more than anyone does), so I was bothered by your intro.
Are you possibly talking about sociotypes with the last thing? Yeah agree today I took a test that basically said I'm an XXXP xD (But I think I'm between an ISFP, ISTP and INFP) All my results except P said this, just switch with the appropriate functions, because I got 54-55%/45-46% on all of them except P: "Your energy style is a blend of Introversion and Extroversion, and as such, you are neither a true Introvert nor a true Extrovert. For the purposes of personality typing, you may call yourself an Introvert, as you do tend slightly to prefer this mode. However, it’s more accurate to say that you are a bit of both Extrovert and Introvert: you tend to use both styles somewhat equally, or you may prefer one style over the other depending on the situation." So it basically said I'm ISFP leaning, but pretty much only have a strong preference for Perceiving. And I agree with it, because when reading about the functions, S/N and T/F I felt are highly dependent on the situation. (Which I think is why in the past I would always get a different result minus the fact I was consistently I & P) Wouldn't a person with a high preference for a certain function have a different vibe from someone who uses a certain one almost equally?
Same because I’ve taken the test a few times over the last 6 years or so and each time it’s been 49%/51% for P/J and it will switch. I would get INFP or INFJ, and recently I got INFJ when I tested myself for the first time in 2 years. So I completely agree.
@@tanniapaolacastrohidalgo3449 Personally I like this quiz I feel like out of all of them: www.michaelcaloz.com/personality/ It actually gives you clear cut situations without the questions seeming too open ended. (Plus love how it tells you what order it'd place you for other types.) I think part of the problem with a lot of the other ones is a lot of the questions feel too open ended in a way. TBH even reading the functions I still felt like F/T were pretty 50/50 (I really don't feel like I have a preference in regards to this function) So I had to actually had to read comparison charts between the difference for each type I thought I could be to come to a conclusion. (And taking the quiz above basically agreed with my conclusions.)
i haven’t watched the video yet, buuut i feel like i’m both because i keep taking the test from time to time, i either get INFJ or INFP i think i keep switching between one and the other, and i relate to both of them so much.
I feel the same way too, I keep changing for some reason. Sometimes I act like an INFP and sometimes like an INFJ. So when I read about them I read about both of them.
Nah, my question has always been if you can be an INFJ and an INTP at the same time... cause my Ti is hella good and Fe drives me nuts. (Couldn't watch the video yet)
@Laure I know that I can't have both, and I'm pretty sure that I have Ni and Se, but I was testing myself for INTP for years. Sometimes I still feel more like that, because I can be so feeler-wise dumb sometimes, and I'm living more of a thinker-type life. It's pretty weird though, sometimes none of them feel right, but if I dig deeper, I'm absolutely an INFJ.
first and third function(hero and child) are both functions that share your intro/extro-version type. This makes them optimistic functions, and they are functions that initiate tasks. Of the two of them, the child function is the weaker but more spontaneous and optimistic. We get power from using them. The pessimist functions finish tasks and do not like to initiate them, and do not share out intro/extro-version type. These are the second and fourth function. We lose power by using them since they are not our type. This is why you like to think of yourself as INTP. The child Ti function is more visible to you than the hero Ni. And the Fe function is visible and draining, forced.
Old video, New comment. Frank you are very convincing and the edge is a good thing. Love the eye roll too. This is one of my favorite videos. I am INFJ and when I drink a cola beverage which is not often, I drink coke-zero.
Thanks Frank for choosing to talk about this epic topic 😅
As an INFJ female married to an INFP male I will share few insights on our differences:
Mel Lovi I’m an INFP female married to an INFJ male. The sponge thing is quite accurate. He can’t turn it off! But it makes him a beautiful person.
Abra Carr wow! I would love to hear the female INFP perspective on living with INFJ man. I know they are rare to find 😅
Amanda Masterson Thank you 😊 Below is one of our usual conversations.
*Watching the news. Terrible things happened.
INFP: I can't watch this crap. Only hypocrisy and injustice! My inner peace is disturbed.😢
INFJ: Brace yourself. There are worse things to happen. You will see.😏
INFP: How do you know that? 😮
INFJ: Well, history repeats itself..(speaks for an hour about past events and how they are all connected)💁♀️
INFP: That's scary. Are you sure? 🧐You are so dark!
INFJ: The dark side clouds everything.
I think INFPs are like children (in a good way) in terms of how they see the world. Very unaware of the dark side whereas INFJs like to know more about it you know "for research purposes only"😅
this makes so much sense

Oh, and I don't blame others for my failures, it's almost always something I did or said.
youre both..use it to your advantage
Andreea Pescar I’ve had this same issue. I’ve tested as an INFJ and as an INFP as well. On multiple tests at different times. Certain aspects of the INFP traits fit with my personality and certain traits of INFJ fits as well. But for the most part, I’ve tested mostly INFJ. Soooo... I have to say I’m INFJ ? Lol
@@johnnyllooddte3415 He literally just said you can't be both.
@@stefanmirica6485 The reality is that these tests do not have scientific backing thus why they are not used s a scientific way to measure personality.....I love MBTI, but I would take the tests with a grain of salt. Her personality type didn’t change over time, but it took her a while to figure out and accept her own innate preferences.
oh that is a really good point
Omg yes.. My mom is an infp so that makes sense
This!!!
Hhaha I felt the same there 😂😂

INFJs are actually closer to INTJs than INFPs when it comes to functions. I have a friend who I clicked with instantly on so many levels and now I understand why because he is an INTJ.
Yeah, and as an INFP I would make the observation that we are closer to ENFPs
Exact same scenario for me

Nice :')

Funny I listened to another infj and left the comment. I love you. Just learned the girl I was in love with is a narcissist and going through break up phase. Finding my personality type and narcissists it gave me all that I needed.
Ok, but, I struggled so long since I originally took this test when I was 12 and still learning about myself and got typed as INFJ, however, 10 years later I keep getting INFP
In so many ways the two types are alike, that’s for sure; coke and Pepsi like Frank mentioned.
But what really helps me distinguish myself and accept that I’m an INFP is my inability to “emotionally door slam” like the INFJ.
INFP’s are more of a “leave the door slightly ajar just in case people change or the environment changes, or in case it’s a mistake, or in case they need us” lol
The door slam is real when that door is slammed it's like you never existed
That's true. I've been told I'm an idiot several times because i don't slam the door and it seems like i just can't stop no matter how many times i tell myself that's the right thing to do, that's just one voice, there are 38399227 other voices that don't fail to tell me all the possible mishaps that could happen for the one I'm slamming the door on.
@@glamarcs9615 ya you keep momentos of people that leave you not when you leave them
Oh.. now I'm 100%sure I am an INFJ 😅
Do what makes you happy and don't let anyone define you xx
If you read about the mbti, hope it helps you understand yourself better, but don't let it confuse you xx

Lol i was exactly thinking the same while watching that part. I must be infp and should stop doubting it i bet.

But then again, this is our sole unique gift, and why we are INFJ in the first place.
oh, that's so clever! i think you solved the riddle with pure logic.
As an INFJ married to an INFP I can confirm this 100%!
Nah that's not right. I've heard a lot of INFPs want to be INFJs for some reason - quite a few of them really seem to admire and look up to INFJs.
Hey! Sixteen Type Stephanie here. Great video Frank!
🤣
Because the test is crap. Lol
The exact same thing happened to me😅
I like to think I’m just INFP with a couple INFJ tendencies

Question: how does trauma and abuse affect the transparency of the INF J or P personality types?
This would be very interesting to know.
INFPs become like Chris Nolan's Joker...
I relate
The exact same for me 🙂
Thank you, thank you.
This video and your personality made me smile. These longer videos show more of what you are actually like which is nice to see.

I don’t trust these tests that you do online. I trust my judgment more on what I am.

Your analogies are excellent and a few made me laugh. Thanks for clarifying this for me! And with respect you’re absolutely adorable.

@@lilianaj.1108same. I don’t understand 🧐
If you're "changing types" on a weekly basis the results are probably a failing of the testing methods more than anything.
well sedd
Kelsey M i like this a lot ;_; much respect this makes me feel much better x

If you compare:
INFJs are stubborn,
They are born with a boxes in their head, they know which toys goes to which box
INFPs are like the clutter in the floor figuring it out all the time
By continuous experience INFPs learn to group the clutter in the floor even making invisible boxes for them
While INFJs learned that clutter can be necessary too, and leaving things without putting them in the box can also be an option
That's it.
How do u feel u went from introverted intuitive to extroverted intuitive
@@Ntrinzc my attachment to other people changed as I healed my trauma.
Lol.. the tests are crap.
TY for being here.🙏😂
I have bipolar disorder and my daughter says that I am INFP when I am depressed and I am ENFP when manic. :D
Amy zzz same.
Same.
Yeah Frank's arguments completely fall flat once he reaches out beyond mbti! XD
There's a spectrum i guess.
Sonia Di I've taken several tests before and they gave me different results every time. It was either INFP,
ISFJ or ISFP. But I always thought that I was an INFJ, because it was the one that most suited me... I did the test you've sent and it says me that I'm INFJ... Should I believe it? 😅
the most accurate way to figure out your type isnt to take a test, those will always be flawed. find someone whos skilled at typing people and get a typing directly from them
Thank you! You are both informative and entertaining. I don't "love" a lot of people, but you, Frank... That realness though!
Just gotta say, love this line (4:30):
'you could be a poet,
and not even know it'
I took the test and got INFP but months later I asked my intuition and got INFJ! lol! It really doesn't matter to me, I can't even remember the differences between them. 🥰
I've suffered with depression most of my life and when it's hitting hard, my answers to the questions are definitely skewed. I think there are a lot of depressed people these days and seems to me that would lend itself to a lot of INF-
Exaclty. I have social anxiety so often times how I act is only based on my fear and not my real personality so its kind of inaccurate
“You can be a poet and didn’t even know it” favorite part. INFJ humor weeeeeee
I love your humour that comes out every so often and the way I can see your complex thoughts 🥰
I absolutely agree with you and love the way you describe it.
The “savior” function and “demon” function analogy really resonates with me - thank you for this video!
YES!! My moods change. I took an online test and magically became INFP---two points away from INFJ.
I am an INFJ/no-bs 😂 Yep, I suck at sensing so much. We get told we should work on this, but I refuse. Except when driving.
I took the test twice and got both types but I've done research and relate to INFJ drastically more.
Same here... I constantly get put as both types. I think it's because my judging and perceiving characteristics are like almost 50 percent every time.

It's good to see you fired up on this issue. It shows us what's important to you.
Frank James: You can't have two personalities at the same time.
Me: challenge accepted.
You can't
It isn't a challenge
It just isn't scientifically possible

I found you so hysterical and I really enjoyed laughing. I am an INF. I also loved the Pepsi-Coke analogy🌺
Oh because when doing the 16personalities test I alternate between F and P with results
Ohh man I so dig your style! LOL. Thanks FJ for bringing joy to this world. And yeah, great topic.
Seriously, thank you. You’ve so clearly enunciated what I’ve been feeling as some kind of nebulous frustration for the last decade.
The thing is, last time I took the test I ended up very definitively INF, but I was 51% J and 49% P. So yeah I'm right on the border. I think as I get older though I'm becoming more INFP, because I used to score much higher on the J.
That’s me too my F and P keeps changing but always boderlining depending on seasons of the year
That’s it. Border line. Changeling.
Yes for mee too!
I was getting more INFJ, and sometimes INTJ in different tests so I made a list of questions and I linked it with how I was in my childhood and I asked my family about the different events that happened when I was young because I didn't want them to know about me learning typically and I got answers for most of the question...
I think when you are young you are not influenced by the world because you are protected by your family so you will understand what personality you are born with from your childhood batter then when you are grown-up
After all that I retook the tests and answered according to how I was in my childhood and now I know my type and it is INFJ
I hope this helps ☺️
So an estp under stress flips *all* their functions...but an infp under stress only switches to j....
@@codeN_8 I'm saying one aspect of it might become more dominant and so when you take a test you might answer a question differently than if you were in INFP flow thus getting a different test result. The INFP is just an example but it could go for any of the types.
What if you score 51% on Judging/ wouldn’t u technically be almost half and half of INFJ/INFP?
Ana I love how I find armys literally EVERYWHERE!😂❤️
hAi armyyyyyy XD

Two Type Timmy is a tale for the ages. A child so special that he has not one, but TWO personalities types. Outstanding.
That ad feels kinda Rick&Morty inspired :) informative video though, thank you!
Yeah agree today I took a test that basically said I'm an XXXP xD (But I think I'm between an ISFP, ISTP and INFP)
All my results except P said this, just switch with the appropriate functions, because I got 54-55%/45-46% on all of them except P:
"Your energy style is a blend of Introversion and Extroversion, and as such, you are neither a true Introvert nor a true Extrovert. For the purposes
of personality typing, you may call yourself an Introvert, as you do tend slightly to prefer this mode. However, it’s more accurate to say that you
are a bit of both Extrovert and Introvert: you tend to use both styles somewhat equally, or you may prefer one style over the other depending on
the situation."
So it basically said I'm ISFP leaning, but pretty much only have a strong preference for Perceiving.
And I agree with it, because when reading about the functions, S/N and T/F I felt are highly dependent on the situation. (Which I think is why in the past I would always get a different result minus the fact I was consistently I & P)
Wouldn't a person with a high preference for a certain function have a different vibe from someone who uses a certain one almost equally?
Same because I’ve taken the test a few times over the last 6 years or so and each time it’s been 49%/51% for P/J and it will switch. I would get INFP or INFJ, and recently I got INFJ when I tested myself for the first time in 2 years. So I completely agree.
Yes I am the exact same way!
You all should just READ THE FUNCTIONS
@@tanniapaolacastrohidalgo3449 Personally I like this quiz I feel like out of all of them: www.michaelcaloz.com/personality/
It actually gives you clear cut situations without the questions seeming too open ended. (Plus love how it tells you what order it'd place you for other types.)
I think part of the problem with a lot of the other ones is a lot of the questions feel too open ended in a way.
TBH even reading the functions I still felt like F/T were pretty 50/50 (I really don't feel like I have a preference in regards to this function)
So I had to actually had to read comparison charts between the difference for each type I thought I could be to come to a conclusion. (And taking the quiz above basically agreed with my conclusions.)
Be as belligerent as you want - it's your channel 😂
When he said we can't change our personality over time, it destroyed me (I don't want to be an infp forever😭)
Thank you for making this video. The world needed it :)
i haven’t watched the video yet, buuut i feel like i’m both because i keep taking the test from time to time, i either get INFJ or INFP i think i keep switching between one and the other, and i relate to both of them so much.
I feel the same way too, I keep changing for some reason. Sometimes I act like an INFP and sometimes like an INFJ. So when I read about them I read about both of them.
also I don’t want people to think that I have a mental disorder lmao bc i’m totally fine 😂 I think that INFPs and INFJs are similar
Enfp is the INfj shadow and enfj is the infp shadow so your probably an Infj acting like an enfp or an Infp acting like an enfj
I enjoy your sense of humor and quirkiness; it's like looking into a mirror. According to the test, I am an INFP.
Nah, my question has always been if you can be an INFJ and an INTP at the same time... cause my Ti is hella good and Fe drives me nuts.
(Couldn't watch the video yet)
Réka Lévai sometimes I swear I’m INTJ, but then I come in contact with a real one. Lol.
@Laure
I know that I can't have both, and I'm pretty sure that I have Ni and Se, but I was testing myself for INTP for years.

That makes sense, thank you!
yes you can.. contrary to what a 20 something video king says..doc johnny
INFP 🙋🏼♀️ here! You are adorable lol your videos are making me crack up.
Old video, New comment. Frank you are very convincing and the edge is a good thing. Love the eye roll too.
This is one of my favorite videos. I am INFJ and when I drink a cola beverage which is not often, I drink coke-zero.
