All of those Rivian stations have the new gen 1.5 dispensers and show non-Rivian vehicle pricing (typically 32-33% higher than what Rivian drivers pay). I was happy to see the new NY site open up last night as I expect that will be the closest to me, unless they start to open older gen 1 sites. Thanks for the update, exceptionally useful as always.
@@anthonyc8499 Honestly, I think so. Tesla probably still has the highest vehicle count to charging stall ratio, but CCS was hovering around 40 CCS1 EVs for every 1 CCS1 stall for a long time. We hit a dry patch in charger buildouts (I think thanks to CPOs waiting on NEVI), but now that new stations are starting to be built at a reasonable pace, we should see infrastructure stay ahead of new EV adoption from now on. Of course, I'm also a firm believer that we've front-loaded EV demand in terms of travel and reliance on DCFC with >60% of EV owners making $100,000+ per year (less than 20% of the entire population). People who make significantly less than $100,000 a year simply don't have the money or freedom of movement to travel that frequently.
@@newscoulomb3705 You can use their website. If it's for everyone it reads "XYX number fast chargers on site" and if it's Rivian only it says "... for Rivian vehicles only"
I’m so happy that the Bismarck, ND EA opened! We’re heading right through there (and right by the Menards where the EA is) on the way to my in-laws for Christmas!
For 6 months since the chargers were first installed at the P/FJ in Sulpher Springs, Tex, I’ve been waiting, hoping it would open. Still nothing. Calls to the store don’t provide any information. So frustrating, it’s right where I need a charger going to the kids.
It's cool to see that EA has evolved away from their 4-stall builds and we're seeing 6-8 chargers now at each new station. The three new RAN stations are a welcome surprise and I can't wait to take advantage of them. We'll see a flurry of initial activity from IONNA but based on the earlier IONNA video, it'll just be 50 new stations over 2 years. IONNA and Rove both have about the same number of stations listed on their sites as open or coming soon.
That is only Sheetz. You are mistaking that for their entire rollout. I'd be shocked is ionna wasn't well over 50 stations this time next year. They are launching owned sites plus colocated sites.
I stopped at the Buc-ees in Sevierville, TN today. They have some Alpitronic units in cardboard boxes and they have some concrete trucks parked next to the Tesla Superchargers. I saw at least 4 Alpitronic boxes, but it’s blocked off pretty well with black construction material.
I grew up near there. Just the other side of Park Ridge. Not much in that area but industrial and the big concert venue. A few hotels of note too. I am guessing it will become a ride share hang out mostly, but still nice to take some strain off the systems.
Walter, The Tesla station in the Joplin MO Petro is Magic Dock equipt, but not enabled. The Buckees in Springfield was not Magic Dock enabled when it first opened up. I wonder if they open the station without Magic Dock enabled at the beginning, and then activate it later.
That magic dock location in Houston is interesting. Other than one of the original V3 magic docks in the Metroplex this is the only other magic dock location in Texas outside of a Bucee's after they flipped a lot of them off. And then the NJ location is surrounded by a lot of other magic dock locations, odd.
There is really nothing from my perspective I can add. I agree it will be a big win and the canopy will be welcome in the winter months too. Sometimes they linger though.
The new Tesla MagicDock station is odd since Tesla has cancelled both of their NEVI-funded sites they were going to build along I-40 in eastern Oklahoma because one of the stipulations placed upon the NEVI awards by the State of Oklahoma was that they be equipped with MagicDocks so that all types of EV’s would be able to charge there. So it will still be almost 200 miles from the Supercharger in Van Buren, Arkansas and the one on the west side of Oklahoma City, making for only 2 Superchargers on the entire length of I-40 across Oklahoma, one in Oklahoma City and a V2 in Westherford, where non-Tesla cannot charge either. Once again, Tesla is ignoring the middle of the country. I say this because Tesla is not building any new Superchargers across Kansas either.
Another great update. Just two things I'm personally waiting for now. 1: Someone, anyone (besides Tesla) to open up a charger or two in WV. 2: Kempower, will they ever land a large CPO contract? The rest seems to be falling into place nicely now as far as DCFC goes. As much as I look forward to these updates, I have a feeling that within a couple of years they will just not be needed.
Walter is there any value of making the charge point "stations" more "accurate" ? As they often (and rivian all the time) have 1 Station entry for each stall. Could you count for unique 'street addresses' for them? I guess you do that with rivian to clean their data up.
@@thenetworkarchitectchannel Fair enough. You would need to coalesce "Street address" & "City" too as there are multiple same street address in different cities. Public data added to by different organisations with no standards is a complete pain.
no, but the impression I get is they time things to when the power will be delivered. The one near me all opened pretty quick after the transformer showed up.
It just depends. There's a new V4 station in Seattle that has been under construction for over a year. It's been plagued with..."issues", but should eventually open.
There is really no reason to put in magic docks let cars with the now defunct CCS plug use an adapter.. Of all the new sites many are at car dealers, can these in a service area be considered PUBLIC,when they are not acessible by the public..
@@thenetworkarchitectchannelI did read that but that's not official yet and Tesla already has nevi sites underway in my state. Those stations would have to offer CCS to use nevi funds.
Good job getting rid of Blink. It is a garbage network. Probably time to get rid of BP Pulse, too. Would be great if you list amperage, voltage, type of connector, too. Thanks. Also, should specify J3400 or Tesla. Not the same.
I was tired of them. BP Pulse though is just getting started. They have gigahubs getting spotted on both coasts. TA also is showing big builds in progress. Thx for watching.

Are we getting back to the Happy Charging Times of 2021, when the infrastructure outpaced EVs on the road, or are those days behind us now?
Thanks, Steve. Is this a case of needing to download the Rivian app in order to determine which sites are open (and to activate the chargers)?
