I completely FORGOT I BOUGHT THIS! Apparently I had bid $20 on it days before, and no one else bid.

  • Locker Nuts episode 613
I was headed to the dump with a truck load when I received a call from a local storage facility, which went like this:
Manager - "I wanted to see when you're coming to pick up the unit you purchased."
Me - "What locker? When did I buy it?"
LOL... turns out I won a locker I had placed a $20 bid on days earlier on an online auction website. Well, game on! Now the fun part.
It was a small unit, and that made for an easy clean out. However, good things come in small packages (sometimes) and this little locker quickly turns into a big profit!

The Orange stick with the rope in the end that you called a whip is a Parelli Carrot Stick used to train horses $60. new plus shipping. The thing you thought was a belt is a girth that goes under the horses belly to hold the saddle.. Nothing wtih horses is cheap and this is not 4H junk. Do Not take this to the market. You need help with this because you could have a thousand dollars plus to the right buyers. Try to find a used a horse tack shop but get help. You are not going to get the money from a flea market because it is specialized. You do better going to a western horse show.

The metal on some of the headstalls is probably silver much of that is better quality than flea markets if you check many times tack and horse stores do consignment sales for people

When I showed horses as a kid, my show tack was over $1000. That was without my saddle. Also, a lot of tack jewelry is 925. So check it for markings!! Great locker Mate!

Check the silver on the leather to make sure it's not sterling. Also those small pieces are braided into the mane. Like barrettes. Possible silver also. Not swap meet material.

I think you got yourself a show horse storage unit. All the buttons and snaps go on the halter to fancy it up. The rasp for the toes(lol) hooves. Jack: you are saying way too cheap on horse harness & bridles especially the leather studded ones. There is farrier supplies there too. I think this horse may have been a jumper doing barrels or fences. My husband's family had horses and one set of harness can go for big bucks. That silver show harness would be really expensive.

Can tell you as a horse owner all that tack (leather & metal) is worth way more than you are assuming.
Take it to a stable, tack shop or maybe even check with your local 4-H teacher. Don't just sell at market please

My sister use to show horses over jumps. You've found yourself a wonderful locker. Most of the etched metal is most likely silver. Please check it out completely before selling. You've got nice helmets and in another box was helmet covers. Most of it is show quality and worth a lot of money. You may want to have that on auction or ebay.

The Silver in the plastic bag is a saddle &bridle set for show. Depending on the circuit this gal showed, it could be silver! That braided leather stuff with the horsehair is a mecate, and it looked like a nice one. Don't you dare sell it for $10! In that near New condition, a cheap one is like $200. Nice find, Jack! Definitely price that stuff right.

Oh Jack, I hope you didn't take all the horse stuff to Stockton.
Do you realize how many stables there are in the Bay Area? My girlfriend, back in the 80's, who passed in 2015 at 49, had boarded horses there. I did a quick google search and saw at least 10 in the Santa Clara valley. Garrod Farms is still in business. I rented horses there a couple of times back in the 70s (sheesh, seems like yesterday).
There is some beautiful saddle blankets, bridles and training whips in that little locker.
If it was me, I'd do DeAnza, then Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. Most of that stuff is too nice for Stockton and I think people in the Santa Clara valley will 'pay up'.
Happy holidays to everyone there at the nuthouse (including mom!)

I sold a used pair of equestrian boots for $100 Jack & a child's helmet for about $40. Also stirrups can be very valuable depending on age, maker, etc. Don't take it to De Anza or Stockton, it'll be worth your time to research all those pieces, especially the fancier looking ones. A lot of the silver accent pieces are most likely silver.

Horse Farrier tools - Horses need their hooves trimmed and horseshoes placed regularly, a procedure referred to as “shoeing” a horse. The person trained to shoe horses is called a farrier. Farriers provide an important part of the regular care that keeps horses healthy.

Jack, you MUST do as everyone is saying. Take the Horse Tack to your nearest Riding Stables to be identified and then DO NOT try and sell it at a Flea Market. It should go to a specialist sale. At least that is what I would do with it here in the UK. Good Luck

Oh my, I keep seeing more and more. Bits sell used for 50 and up depending on brand. Chaps are very expensive. You might have close to 2 grand or possibly more. The professional saddle pad is several hundred new. John Lyons was a trainer who sold great items. I say, go for ebay. You have expensive items. Bridles looked great and go high even used. You had nice looking reins that sell high. Wow! I would love this one. 😀

You have several thousand dollars worth of tack and horse supplies. You need to take this and get it appraised, at least by 2 people. You are going to get lots of offers by lowballed. Things you are guessing to be $100 are 300-500. Auction it or consign it at a used tack shop. Ebay would be appropriate. Just get correct descriptions of items. A used tack shop will help identify and price it for you.

  • @carolineb3527
    @carolineb3527 ปีที่แล้ว

One of my grandfathers was a farrier, the other one was a blacksmith - the stuff (the tack) in that locker is not cheap. I'm English, that locker screamed "dressage" to me - there was even a dressage rug in there. Dressage screams "Money!". Show horses scream "Money!" Whoever owned that kit either worked for a stables where show horses were kept or for an individual owner of several horses. That also screams "money!".
As for prices, of course they vary hugely by brand and quality but you had some good items in that locker so I assume the rest was equivalent quality. Thousands of dollars of stuff brand new, still thousands when lightly used. Bridles, snaffles, boots, rugs, general tack, embellishments... ker-ching!
Don't take that stuff to Stockton, I can hear my grandfathers turning in their graves!

Ok ok looked a bit closer. Most of that stuff is for a rodeo princess, and some hunter jumper equipment. Yeah, 5-6 is low-end. I come from a long line of rodeo, so when I say you could easily action most of the tack for well into 10,000 range trust me. Go to a rodeo or equestrian supplier and get yourself a real and good price for it. Just look up Isabel who won Barrels Title and Peyton who got 7th at the quarter horse finals this year. The biggest female rodeo event. And their both rodeo princesses.

The two riding helmets will sell on ebay for between $200 to $600 EACH. Take your time on this. From what I see, the entire contents are worth between $2000 and $3000. Might be worth taking it to someone knowledgeable on equestrian tack and let them help you sell it. Or offer it to a tack store for them to buy it all in bulk for maybe $1200 so you can turn and burn. What a find.

Might want to look closer at the horse tact. There are some that are silver.
