Mel is one of the very few and very rare - who has the creative ability to act and direct in equal proficiency. His oeuvre is incredible and remains a grand testament to his ability. He has brought an abundance of diversity and dynamics to film that are unequalled in cinematic history !
I miss his aussie accent. I wish he went back to Australia and made more Australian films again. He much loved over there. I wonder why he doesn't do that? America pretty much spat him out and wants nothing to do with him again.
@@pnut3844able He's not an Aussie. He's American. Born in New York and grew up in New York. His family moved to Australia when he was 12, so he went to High School and drama school in Aus - but he's always been an American. He just picked up some of the accent in Australia.
@@redadamearthWhy are you Americans so hellbent on this? He lived his childhood in America. He lived his formative teenage years, and many years after that, in Australia. It helped form him. Mel Gibson has the charismatic glow. What makes no sense is the camera technology and editing technology is far superior today to anything back in the 1980s. But you watch the old movies and they have life. Their just so much better. What's happening to us?
I was a teenager in the 80s and remember it being an exciting time thanks to film. Going to the cinema was an event you got dressed up for and theatres were packed. So many talented and gorgeous stars. Everyone admired the gorgeous Mel Gibson.
I have got the whole collection of Mel Gibson Danny Glover and Joe Pesci in Lethal Weapon 1 2 3 4 as Patsy Kensit in Lethal Weapon 2 and I am dedicating these movie DVDS to my old school friends who are both sisters as I hope to see them both again very soon to Chris and Hester from Billyxxxxx
He learned it or gained the accent when moved to Australia when he was a young kid as was born in New York and could hear the accent at times in Lethal Weapon and earlier films like Mad Max in 1979 and films that came after that that were filmed and released in Australia before he moved to United States in 1984.

Mel Gibson attended school in Australia and college as well and began his acting career as films like Mad Max and Tim in 1979 and Gallipoli were made in Australia before moved to United States by 1984 when made his American debut in film with The Bounty and went to star in Lethal Weapon in 1987.
He wasn’t made to be a carbon copy of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger same with Bruce Willis as Willis and Gibsons characters were more human and not so stoic and muscular but they made their characters Riggs in Lethal Weapon and John McClane in Die Hard iconic when films came out in 1987 and 1988.
I imagine it's more taxing than you realize to put it all out there and try to convincingly BECOME those characters. It takes long hours learning new skills, language dialects, etc.
80s Mel Gibson is more charismatic than any male leading actor today.
The average charisma of 2020's actors, both male and female, is that of a dead fish.
No shit
He really was and he still is. He is very underrated and he is really such a great talent.
OMG..WHAT A PERFECTLY GORGEOUS MAN...Physically, Mentally, Intellectually, Creatively...GENIUS!!
I know! Handsome facial features and great hair. ❤ You don't see men with long like that these days.

His is a master director like Clint Eastwood.
Apocalypto is an amazing film
I miss his aussie accent. I wish he went back to Australia and made more Australian films again. He much loved over there. I wonder why he doesn't do that? America pretty much spat him out and wants nothing to do with him again.
I completely forgot he was an aussie until I saw this. I guess he lost his accent over the years. It wasn't a real strong one to begin with.
I think Mel was born in America , and went back to Australia when he was a bit older , and then moved back to America.

I’m Australian and didn’t even realise he lived in Sydney for a time. I watched this video and was like, what in the actual fuck is going on here?!
The GOAT
Mel should have stayed in Australia. We treat him better than Hollywood.
Well this aged poorly lol
@BRALLUS why? I agree with them
I'll never understand how you lose the Australian accent
He had to learn it when he migrated to Australia, so it will have been easier to regress.

A film (like his) takes at least half the year... not to mention that he already had a large family to manage.
