i went to college with the game designer of flOw. it isn't just Sony's answer to Geometry Wars. it was actually an interactive thesis project, meant to explore the player's ability to control the flow of their interactive experience. like allenwhatever stated, Geometry Wars is a throwback to oldschool arcade-style shooters. completely different.
This does remind me of an old game called 'Spore' (that I actually loved for it's hypnotic qualities and the feeling of being in a microscopic universe) and also of a later game, called 'Morpheus', by Andrew Braybook for the C64, which I love for the same reasons. This is something no game-lover should miss, or any stoner for that matter- relax and play!
Honestly one of the best games I've played. And I'm not just some random simple-game-loving person either. I can appreciate things like GTA IV and MGS4 as well... But this game is just so... Natural? Innovative? Addictive too... -sigh- Wish I was a microscopic organism.
@JacobGibbz actually there was this one video i called "best video game ever" before 05 showing the creatures in the water and you could either grow legs and go on land or evolve in water. and also you didnt need to terraform a area so you could easily start colanies in and out of water and on moons not in the goldieloxs zone.
I've just completed this game, it's damn hypnotising and fantastic, and you PS3 haters can go chew on dirt. At least that way you'll be spending some time having fun instead of venting rage at a nice game due to it's platform.
Yeah definitely reminds me of Spore, except without looking interesting, having any control over the creature's creation, and probably doesn't eventually rocket off into space. Congrats Sony, awesome product you've got there. REALLY shows off the ps3's graphical power too.

Yes, there are more powerful "enemies" or whatever you want to call them that you encounter towards the end. They sort of chase after you if you piss them off. I have to say describing it just makes it sound awkward. It really has to be experienced. I guarantee it will be the best 5 dollar investment you´ll ever make.
even if it were copying, games evolve from taking past concepts from games and using them. I guarantee every major game you play now "copied" from some other game to get to where it is now, it's how games grow. But it is different when games rip off of other games
thats a point of view - you call it a monster, but still its just a 'living organism' and you are the intruder. theres always a choice to let it be and movealong :)

It's available for both PS3 and PSP. The PS3 version came out a lot earlier and this was the trailer.

That was ZX Spectrum 16k game where you fight lots of little microbes. It was simple, but fascinating.
This game actually gets harder and harder after a while. It's really relaxing after playing resistance with a few of my friends for about 4 hours.

There is no "goal", you just descend deeper into the pool until you reach the end, then you "play" through the credits.

this is like playing the spore cell section, but easier and calmer. And with less EYES!!
If you get pixle junk you can record yourself plyaing and it automatically up loads it on yout tube.. which i just tried and it worked very well
