Hello great video loved your explanations and I learned from your video! I was wondering what your opinion is on clip point blades and what they can do for whittling? Thank you.
A clip point, depending upon how pointy allows you to dig out round holes 🕳 and other details you might need, depends upon what shape you are trying to create. That's one reason why Whittler knives will often have 3 blades. One big sturdy one, and two small, either pen blades, or a pen blade and a coping blade. I like a clip point like that found in a Bowie knife because it has a point I can use like an awl.
I have the Oldtimer, about 3 years now at least they have gone down in price a lot, and got the Flexcut carving jack and it's tools were identical, so much it looks like the same manufacturer just different frames so sent the Flexcut back. I have one RR Canittler but would like more, and love some canoes w/ 3+ blades, and then there's the sowbelly 4 to 6 blades OMG! so cool.
Hey Sir, I love the video and your knives, but what I like more is that black mat? Is there anyway you could tell me where you got that please and yes, I liked and subscribed for you. Sincerely mikey
Thank you. I got mine from BladeHQ, but they are out of stock. Here's a link to the company that made it, also out of stock currently. www.knafs.com/products/knife-mouse-pad-edcknife-custom-shop-mat
@@WilliamsKnifeLife awesome! Thank you again, i have to get on of them, they are so cool. I’m new to wiggling and I’m just on a buying spree of all sorts of things. Hahaha
Sorry it took so long for me to find your question. Mine doesn't have a model number on it, but I can tell it's an early model, probably 3 digits. I'll try to find the number for you.
I love whittling and have a couple of Whittlers, but rarely use them (my SAK does most of the work). I would advise against that Schrade which you showed a screenshot of. I was given one and I'm not impressed by the steel. There are many whittling channels here on TH-cam - check out Carving Is Fun, for some great advice and lots of carving knife reviews. Stay safe buddy. 👍
Nice whittler collection buddy! I may still get that Frost whittler, I see it pop up on Ebay every now and then. Take care partner!
Thank you Knife Detector.
The smaller penblade are the best for whittling. Remove the the belly and sharpen it up. 👌
You are one of the people who actually does whittling & makes something out of it. I just make pointed sticks & a mess. 😄
@@WilliamsKnifeLife then leave the knive as it is and sharpen it up! 😁 And enjoy the slicing! 😁

Thank you Carbonite. I don't have a Canittler, but I want one after seeing Tobias reviews.
@@WilliamsKnifeLife that lucky bastage has a lot of cool stuff
I am looking at Flexcut I am interested in taking up the hobby. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Rusty Knife Lover. It's something I've been meaning to get into also.
I have the carving jack and the Whittlin jack. For a beginner whittler, I would suggest the Whittlin jack.
Nice
Let me guess, you found the "Gun Boat" (big canoe) ;)
I have been looking for the gunboat, but that's not the one coming in. The next knife should be here this weekend.
Love the whittler pattern, just don't have any!
They are not bad. I found the split back whittler interesting in how they made them.
Wanted to ask what brand that grapefruit shield congress knife is.

Are rough rider knives worth buying? Ive got 7 case knives but i dont like to abuse or lose them so they become display knives for me.
Try one. I think they are worth buying.
Where did you get the desk mat?
I think it was Blade HQ

Thank you Ivancho. Schrade used to be good, but the quality has gone down over the years. I'll check out that channel.
