      I too agree with you that the explanation video is a must. I got so much out of the explanation video, it really helped me to understand what the song was about. I respect BTS for writing about that topic and representing the young people who are struggling with getting jobs and being able to make a living. BTS had the courage to write about it even if it was consider wrong by people in power for them to speak on this topic.

      Same sis! And sometimes I even get "mad" at the boys for always joking about Baepsae and saying things like "Army want to see it live because of Hobi's hip thrusts". Of course I know they are joking hahah but at the same time I would love to tell them how relatable Baepsae is for me, and for many people out there. How comforting it is to know that you are definitely not the only one struggling with this "adulting" thing. And how I love how sarcastic and in-your-face the song is! A very millennial/gen Z response to the accusations that are always thrown at us as a generation. Cocky, rebellious, sarcastic, almost stupid. It's just insane the power Baepsae holds.

As a single mom in the 90s working 2 jobs, I had it difficult, but the issues that made it hard for me are worse today. I know people are referring you to the DKDKTV "MV explained" for us non-Koreans but you're a smart guy and have been known to do your own research. There are obvious cultural references, as with a lot of BTS music, but with this song where the lyrics address obvious imbalances - generational, economical - I've watched your reactions before and know you dig into stuff like this on your own in order to put it into context based on other BTS content that you've reacted to as well. Each country has its points-in-time that impacts the culture, and music is one way that the generations express its own POV, which in the case of BTS, the local becomes global. The choreography "enhanced" the message in a cheeky way, each member interpreting the gesture in their own way - my personal favorite was j-hope. Whose was yours? If I could recommend a good live performance of this song, it would be 2015 Osaka - basically that whole concert, if you can watch it.

    Random piece of info: Sua's (Dreamcatcher) representing animal is also the crowtit/baepsae. Not because of any meaning behind it but just that she looks like one (round face, small, high energy, possibly because of her high pitched laugh as well)

    I loved your video reaction. Thank you for reacting and for taking the time to look things up. 55 yr old ARMY .
    I see people have mentioned DKDK TV. The thing that makes there explanation videos so nice is that they cover the entertainment industry on their news like channel . They live in Korea and give you explanation’s about Korean culture and and lyrics. All these songs written in Korean ( with some English) are initially written for fans in their country ( BTS’s country and the older songs before any American awards) and from their point of view as young men. So DKDK TV translates Korean information and explains their culture ( them being Koreans themselves) in a way that is understandable without loosing too much in the actual translation. Let’s face it something’s are just hard to explain. But they do a great job translating the lyrics and making them understandable for those who know nothing of both the culture or the actual language. ( again example.. some words have multiple meanings based on how or when they are used.)
    Anyway thank you again for your time and effort in the videos. Give DKDK TV a try and see what you think. It might go well with your explorations into the meanings. You know take it to the next level. All info is good info , because knowledge is power.💜

    **ARMY PLEASE HELP ME! Should I edit for SPOILERS?**
    You did a great job breaking this down, as I said under another's recommendation for an explanation video. A live performance (or 2 or 3, lol, since there are multiple iconic performances) definitely MUST come soon! A couple things become a bit clearer with these live performances. I don't want to give spoilers, but one of the contextual things you missed without explanation was in how they pronounced one phrase, which brought it close to sounding like a Korean swear word (changing the feel of the lyric, lol). They then emphasized this meaning with their choreo of aggressive pelvic thrusting. There are certainly those who don't look deeper into the meaning of the choreo, just as so many casual listeners don't try to understand the lyrics...their loss.

      @@evantesseract737 thanks for the feedback!🙂 The particular glee with which so many recommend the song to reactors (for the shock and titillation values alone) is irksome to me, as it seems to reinforce the stereotypes of the fandom being musically illiterate and focused only on the physical attractiveness of the members. Here we've got this brilliant stab, filled with nuance, at a societal problem, and we lead people to focus, with middle school level preoccupations, on crow"tits" and pelvic thrusts. Then we have to spend so much effort trying to redirect the attention back to the brilliance that was missed. SMH (Sorry I'm cranky. Looks like I've had too much "World" today and need to get back to my "BTS World" for healing) 💜

It's funny how you totally missed RM doing those thrusts the first time but got JK doing the move even though he was behind J-hope! The protest and social commentary elements are what keep me listening to BTS; and also the way they bare their souls in other songs. I'm curious, how come you saying f****** comes across clear in the audio but the word s****** is muffled? Is that a function of what is considered upsetting in the censorship?

    Would highly suggest you watch the explanation (DKDKTV) for this video in order to gain full understanding from a Korean perspective...it's deeper and more controversial than you might think. Lyric videos aren't really necessary then. A great way to do this kind of video is back to back with the explanation. For some reason there are reactors who avoid/ignore doing the explanations....I'm not sure why....but for certain songs...like Daechwita, Ddang, Ugh, Spring Day, etc., there's really no better way to fully understand and the reason I am ARMY is because of the brilliant songwriting and message. ARMY grandma

    • @WonderingWildWanderingRose
      @WonderingWildWanderingRose ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DGReacts we recommend the explanation videos not because *we* need to see it & understand, but for your own understanding. You did very well with a lot of the issues, but there were still a few things that you missed because of cultural context. Dkdktv isn't the only channel giving the Korean perspective, but they have tried to give a balanced view to non-Koreans that also shares a generational, cultural context and the perspective of how the song is understood/translated in its home of origin. If they have an explanation video for a song on their channel, it's advisable that you watch (even if only on your own time) as it's a fair bet that you will learn something from it. I've enjoyed your channel because you do think deeply, seriously, and intelligently about BTS 's lyrics, intuitively understanding the root message, and I believe most of us recommending further context do so out of appreciation for your efforts to get the most understanding out of your viewing. We hope to enhance that just a bit more for you.
