I went through this with a bus driver that was taking us to Hakone in Japan. It was all downhill and in his mind he was reenacting a scene from Tokyo Drift. I was the living representation of the "guess I'll die then" meme.
Not to burst the bubble .. for those who don't know this is a video of Nikko Irohazaka. Children often have school trips here because of the very old shrine and historical monuments atop the mountain. The footage in this clip is sped up for comic value. Bus driver isn't speeding, but rather doing his best to get his bus through the seemingly endless hairpin curves this mountain is known for. The audio is completely edited, and it's not even Japanese (sounds like Chinese), the subtitles are English/Chinese. Kids often dread this school trip because many of them get motion sickness from the many hairpins even at normal speeds. The mountain is also the featured race point of Initial D 3rd Stage, home of the LanEvo team Emperor.
For those who don’t know, the audio in this clip is from another clip which a old mini bus driver driving recklessly on the highway in Hong Kong and the passengers was screaming for him to stop.
If anyone watching this doesn't know, this is a real thing that many bus drivers on mountain roads do. They have so much expirence on the road and with their vehicle that they pull this off with a straight face and 100% confidence. To tourist who haven't expirenced this before though, it feels like you really might die.

I got on a bus like this for the first time. The driver sped and drifted like crazy. Not to mention it was like 4am. I will say that I accepted my demise at that point. The genuine fear I felt was so overwhelming.. However, as a viewer this is hilarious 😂
@@michaelhice7636 Since it was my first time, I was very scared and anxious. I was sweating and I'd close my eyes whenever the bus took sharp turns. It felt as if the bus was flying. My adrenaline was over the roof at that point, it was crazy. Plus, you have to trust the driver doing all those stunts while the bus is pitch black around a mountain and construction area. Looking back, I'm glad I survived 😂
When we were on a class trip to France we had a driver when we were in the alps that was mad that we were behind schedule and took the tour bus onto a chained tires only path for cars and off road vehicles. It was terrifying. We had at least one wheel over the abyss at several moments and he used the datmn guardrail to steer at times. We got to our destination 3.5 hours early because we litteraly went over the mountain instead of around it.
He knows exactly where all four wheels on that bus are, the angles, the forces being applied, the shifting weight with the number of passengers. He has ultimate mechanical sympathy for that bus, and drives his boring ass bus route all day just to reach this stretch of road, and he is going to let NOBODY deny him of his 5 minutes of concentrated bliss.

My dad was on a 100km bus ride when another bus from a competition company went side by side, they began racing to see who gets to pick up more passengers on the road, the driver of the bus did not know there was a cop or soldier amongst the passengers, while the 2 buses were racing side by side at more than 100kph, the cop (or soldier) took out his handgun and pointed at the drivers head and said ' if you want to go to hell, don't take us with you', the bus slowed down.. This was back in the 80s when our country was ruled by dictator Marcos, cops and soldiers wore civilian clothes but always brought their sidearms..

This took place in Hong Kong. And yes i have actually been on one of these busses standing right at the front by the doors when the bus was packed and it is both a very fun and scary experience at the same time. The only difference was my driver didnt do it in broad daylight - It was late in the evening and I was coming home from somewhere to Tsing Yi so it was pretty late at night with barely any traffic so the driver was just living his former racing days. However - this happened to me YEEEARS ago and im not sure if the busses there have any sort of speed restrictions now or if the company fired all the ballsy drivers. Some of the taxi drivers there can be pretty mad too so if you want a proper rally experience without paying rally prices. Hire a HK taxi driver to take you across town.

Our tour guide introduced us to the driver(he was actually from the US) and said that he's one of the best bus drivers, in which he showed by turning and cornering along the mountain road smooth and fast. I won't ever forget that experience, probably one of the best memories I have when I was a kid.

They have so much expirence on the road and with their vehicle that they pull this off with a straight face and 100% confidence. To tourist who haven't expirenced this before though, it feels like you really might die.

I got on a bus like this for the first time. The driver sped and drifted like crazy. Not to mention it was like 4am. I will say that I accepted my demise at that point. The genuine fear I felt was so overwhelming.. However, as a viewer this is hilarious 😂

@@michaelhice7636 Since it was my first time, I was very scared and anxious. I was sweating and I'd close my eyes whenever the bus took sharp turns. It felt as if the bus was flying. My adrenaline was over the roof at that point, it was crazy. Plus, you have to trust the driver doing all those stunts while the bus is pitch black around a mountain and construction area. Looking back, I'm glad I survived 😂

When we were on a class trip to France we had a driver when we were in the alps that was mad that we were behind schedule and took the tour bus onto a chained tires only path for cars and off road vehicles. It was terrifying. We had at least one wheel over the abyss at several moments and he used the datmn guardrail to steer at times. We got to our destination 3.5 hours early because we litteraly went over the mountain instead of around it.

My dad was on a 100km bus ride when another bus from a competition company went side by side, they began racing to see who gets to pick up more passengers on the road, the driver of the bus did not know there was a cop or soldier amongst the passengers, while the 2 buses were racing side by side at more than 100kph, the cop (or soldier) took out his handgun and pointed at the drivers head and said ' if you want to go to hell, don't take us with you', the bus slowed down..
This was back in the 80s when our country was ruled by dictator Marcos, cops and soldiers wore civilian clothes but always brought their sidearms..

I was in Hong Kong (which is where this is) in 2020, I took a bus from Mui Wo to Tung Chung and it was almost exactly like this, it was fucking hilarious.

This took place in Hong Kong. And yes i have actually been on one of these busses standing right at the front by the doors when the bus was packed and it is both a very fun and scary experience at the same time. The only difference was my driver didnt do it in broad daylight - It was late in the evening and I was coming home from somewhere to Tsing Yi so it was pretty late at night with barely any traffic so the driver was just living his former racing days.
However - this happened to me YEEEARS ago and im not sure if the busses there have any sort of speed restrictions now or if the company fired all the ballsy drivers. Some of the taxi drivers there can be pretty mad too so if you want a proper rally experience without paying rally prices. Hire a HK taxi driver to take you across town.

@@Rose.Of.Hizaki I think this is quite the norm in HK actually. I remember my family trip there when I was a kid and everything was setup by the touring company. Our tour guide introduced us to the driver(he was actually from the US) and said that he's one of the best bus drivers, in which he showed by turning and cornering along the mountain road smooth and fast. I won't ever forget that experience, probably one of the best memories I have when I was a kid.
