I have no interest in Initial D without Keisuke. He is such an integral character to the story and just putting his attributes on Nakazato and Ryosuke is really half-assed. As he states in his first uphill battle in Tochigi, "I am D's ace".
The whole movie makes Bunta look like a crazy addicted alcholic and a non-caring dad when in the anime Bunta always asked Takumi what happened after the races, drank once in a while but not too much, and really cared about Takumi. He taught Takumi how to drive differently and taught him some amazing skills that really made him good. He helped Takumi be who he is today

I think they went with songs that people would actually listen to at the time to be able to sell them, just like how Michael Bay changed Bumblebee from a beetle to a hecking Chevrolet. That and Eurobeat is often considered more campy.

I hate how the movie changed every character, but the driving scenes were actually quite impressive. I wish there's a proper Initial D movie, but with the original story line and characters.

I really would like to see Initial D get another movie. Imagine a live action Initial D movie series with the correct characters/story, a eurobeat soundtrack, and the Drift King making cameos as Bunta.
Apart from how modern this 16 year old film looks, and how amazingly good the driving is, my favorite part is 4:39, when Ryoskue takes out his ear piece knowing that Takumis won before the race has been called.

we'll they actually did quite a lot changes to him in the movie, he is portraited more a brat (the gas station manager is somehow his father in this movie) than just a race car fan boy in the anime. btw the actor and his role here is pretty much a meme in Hong Kong
Depends where you watched it. It was filmed with each actor speaking in their native language (Jay Chou in Mandarin, Anthony Wong in Cantonese, the actress who played Natsuki in Japanese), and then they dubbed the movie into Mandarin/Cantonese/Japanese depending on the territory it was released in. The really should have gone with licensing some sweet Eurobeat tracks, though.

I learnt it the hard way and got myself a GTR so I can master grip racing all over again as it's way more superior" Live action Nakazato: *drifts everywhere like it's a GTS in a freaking GTR and so perfectly when the ATTESA should have bit him and speared him towards a god damn sidewall or off the cliff already* Damn.. 4:15 Nakazato’s reaction to the gutter run, and Takumi with that excessively serious expression looking out the side, is just gold. This movie was great in itself.
I still remember when the Initial D arcade game came out, and everyone had their "driver card". It was such a new notion. And when a good driver would challenge a rookie, but then that rookie ended up having a card already, lol.
Despite how this movie botched a lot of characters, it really wasn't that bad. Makes me wish for a live action show that actually adapts the manga/anime faithfully.

This felt like a really strange combo/passion project. Japanese franchise, Taiwanese main lead was a singer debuting as an actor, Hong Kong directors, Chinese/HK actors, filmed in actual Japanese countryside and they combined different things from different Initial D eras.
"Chinese/HK actors" so that's why @3:09, the lips sync was not good. It's because there were not speaking Japanese and they most likely dubbed everything in post prod.

This is real man, I watched this movie countless times growing up, to the point I know every dialogue by heart. But many years later, this version somehow still put a wide grin on my face from start to finish.

There are people stationed in corners with walkie talkies and they announce how the race is going. This is how it is in the manga and anime as well If you want a direct feed you'll have to follow them closely like Ryosuke did during Takumi VS Nakazato race. In MF Ghost there are drones providing live feed of the cars, so everyone can watch the race even from home

That’s because your father’s car has a different suspension height/ground clearance compared to an AE86, you dove too far into the gutter, and the gutter probably was deeper than Japanese gutters.
@@kyototomokui6676 driving into pits at high speed in corners is a good way to lose a wheel and roll, no matter the circumstances. No wheel is made to take lateral.force.on the rim, it will at best puncture, at worst deform it.
@@ineednochannelyoutube5384 An AE86 can do it because in Japan the gutters are a bit wide, and also not that deep. Plus, the AE86 actually was designed as a rally car, so it has rally wheels on it, which fit into the gutters perfectly. And furthermore, you’re supposed to *SLOW DOWN* before sliding the tires into the gutter, then accelerate through the turn and pop back out by turning in the opposite direction of the corner/hairpin/curve. Edit: forgot to mention that since the AE86 was designed for rally, it has some good ground clearance, which also helps with gutter running.

Edvaldo Moura yeah people always complain and say they ruined the movie but I don’t think this was actually made by the same people who made the anime, it looks pretty low budget. In which case they did quite a good job. But yes, no eurobeat is a disappointment.

They're actually Chinese actors with some of Japanese actors
Depends where you watched it. It was filmed with each actor speaking in their native language (Jay Chou in Mandarin, Anthony Wong in Cantonese, the actress who played Natsuki in Japanese), and then they dubbed the movie into Mandarin/Cantonese/Japanese depending on the territory it was released in.
The really should have gone with licensing some sweet Eurobeat tracks, though.

Despite how this movie botched a lot of characters, it really wasn't that bad. Makes me wish for a live action show that actually adapts the manga/anime faithfully.

The dude’s in an AE, he’s a speedy boi and things get slower for him the more the race goes on, Takumi is the ultimate racing machine
This felt like a really strange combo/passion project. Japanese franchise, Taiwanese main lead was a singer debuting as an actor, Hong Kong directors, Chinese/HK actors, filmed in actual Japanese countryside and they combined different things from different Initial D eras.
"Chinese/HK actors" so that's why @3:09, the lips sync was not good. It's because there were not speaking Japanese and they most likely dubbed everything in post prod.

キャラ設定が問題ありだよね
GT-Rが立ち上がりでふらついている箇所が気になったのと、どうせならグリップで走ってほしかった。けど、全体的にしっかり作ってあって、溝使ってインから抜くシーンのカメラアングルとスピード感は良かった。ドリフトに入る感じもとても良かったと思います。
公開日に仕事終わりにお店の先輩達を連れて映画館観に行って、DVDも出たらスグ買いました！懐かしい😊
今でも原作の頭文字Dは台詞全部覚えてるくらいマニアで大好きですが、そんな自分でもこの映画は良かったです。なによりも映像の疾走感はすごかったです。

映画楽しみました
原作との違いが多い点で批判されがちだけど、「時間の限られた実写映画」という枠の中に頭文字Dを収める上で脚本家は相当良い思い切りをしてると思うのよ。
良さが出るのに時間を要する「ミステリアスキャラ」の文太を癇癪親父にしたり、スタンドの3人をイツキ一人で表現してしまったりする事で時短しながら物語としての厚みを保ててるし、
対してナツキに関する描写に時間をかけることで原作のドロドロ感を気持ち悪いほどトレース。
原作やアニメをしっかりオマージュしたカメラワークと見せ方、なによりそのカット数からくる誰もが唸るカーアクションシーン。
頭文字Dの美味しさを全部詰め込みつつ物語に破綻もへたりもない。
個人的にはどえらい映画だと思う。

It always amazes me when the spectator’s only get glimpses 20-30% of the race tops, and still gets what happened.
well not to make you look stupid but you do realize they are going down a mountain path right and not just some tiny mountain ether :p like they can see them from the top going down.... that particular road is actualy quit famous.
There are people stationed in corners with walkie talkies and they announce how the race is going. This is how it is in the manga and anime as well
If you want a direct feed you'll have to follow them closely like Ryosuke did during Takumi VS Nakazato race.
In MF Ghost there are drones providing live feed of the cars, so everyone can watch the race even from home

when i was in college we tried that corner gatter move and my fathers car is broke, the rim almost fly and the alignment is a real mess.. and when i got home the rest is history

That’s because your father’s car has a different suspension height/ground clearance compared to an AE86, you dove too far into the gutter, and the gutter probably was deeper than Japanese gutters.
@@kyototomokui6676 driving into pits at high speed in corners is a good way to lose a wheel and roll, no matter the circumstances.
No wheel is made to take lateral.force.on the rim, it will at best puncture, at worst deform it.
@@ineednochannelyoutube5384 An AE86 can do it because in Japan the gutters are a bit wide, and also not that deep. Plus, the AE86 actually was designed as a rally car, so it has rally wheels on it, which fit into the gutters perfectly. And furthermore, you’re supposed to *SLOW DOWN* before sliding the tires into the gutter, then accelerate through the turn and pop back out by turning in the opposite direction of the corner/hairpin/curve.
Edit: forgot to mention that since the AE86 was designed for rally, it has some good ground clearance, which also helps with gutter running.

Edvaldo Moura yeah people always complain and say they ruined the movie but I don’t think this was actually made by the same people who made the anime, it looks pretty low budget. In which case they did quite a good job. But yes, no eurobeat is a disappointment.
